THE Photo printer for most folks

by rogerngaw Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Mar 09 '01
Pros: Photo realistic prints, borderless printing, accepts roll paper
Cons: Have to use original inks from Epson
Epson has a long history of producing very high quality color inkjet printers. I think they have put all their past expertise to good use in coming up with the 870, 875 and 1270 range of photo-quality inkjet printers.

As an avid user of...

Top Notch Photo Printer

by surfdog4 , Nov 17 '00
Pros: Stunning Photos, quiet operation
Cons: thirsty for ink (not worse than other inkjets)
I've been using the EPSON 870 now for a couple of months, and although I have never owned a photo printer before, this one certainly beats any out put I have seen from other printers anywhere near this price range.

I shoot a lot of landscape...

Looks like the real thing

by hpvamp , Jan 30 '01
Pros: Gorgeous output, quiet, roll paper ability, tech support, fade-resist
Cons: Print head clogging, mediocre output on plain paper
I bought a Stylus Photo 870 when I realized my stylus color 800 just didn't cut it when printing photographic output. One look at the sample print at my local computer store and I was sold. The printer prints in six colors instead of the regular four...

Works Like A Photo Lab!!!

by artiste , Jun 02 '01
Pros: prints photos, fast and good quality
Cons: print settings problems
This printer costs $199 but it delivers in terms of output and speed. It produces 1,440 by 720 dpi resolution images. It delivers bright and sharp quality images. The speed of this machine is quite good. However, when it prints in the photo mode it...

Great Printer, Great Price

by paulwood , Jul 13 '00
Pros: Unbeatable prints
Cons: Costly inks
I've been researching photo printers for several months before I finally decided on the EPSON Photo Stylus 870, and I'm very happy with my decision. I've enlarged several of my photos at the kiosk at the local WalMart, and this printer far exceeds that...

Great Printer, Lousy Software Support, A little Noisy

by pjvreede , Nov 01 '00
Pros: See description below
Cons: See description below
Date: Nov 1, 2000: I love this printer, but I've had serious problems with computer freezes (Mac G4) after I print, and then either connect or disconnect my analog modem using Apple Remote Access. Epson tech service confirms there is a problem with...

by Jim_Battista , Oct 31 '00
Pros: Print Quality is great / Real easy to follow instructions!
Cons: None yet!
I had the Epson 640 which worked great!! I was just looking at some of the Epson new printers. After a lot off looking and a lot of salesman trying to push HP on my (I went through 2 HP's didn't care to try another!) I went with the Epson 870 The...

Better then the first..

by kurifu , Apr 28 '01
Pros: Fast, Precise, High Quality
Cons: Ink is expensive
We bought our Epson 870 about 3 years after the purchase of our Stylus 500. Unlike the 500 we have not thus far had any problems with ink drying and damaging the ink heads if not used within so much time and the ink level sensors seem to work a little...

Epson....I'd suggest shopping around...

by OrangeGurl , May 16 '01
Pros: Nice printing ability, hardly any paper jams, easy to use/hook up to your computer
Cons: Small ink cartridges
I just recently purchased a Epson Stylus printer to replace my older Lexmark. I decided to get a new printer because the ink cartridges in my Lexmark were exspensive. I purchased this quite happy with the outcome. It wasn't too exspensive, and printed...

Excellent photos!

by jt325i , Dec 15 '00
Pros: Awesome photo output
Cons: a bit slow for text but its not really meant for that. Costly ink cartridges
Works great under Windows ME. I use it for printing out photos from my digital camera. Use Epsons paper it's the best. Cartridges are a bit pricy but the black lasts a long time. The color you will go through quite a bit if you like doing 8x10 images. I...
