Pros: Good construction, low price Cons: Absurd dongle, it'll either work or it won't
This drive was one of my first attempts at using USB. In preparation, I bought a USB mouse just to be sure everything worked right. It did so I ordered the drive from www.onvia.com for around $200. I went with Sony due mostly to their name and the...

Pros: Great, Simple, Basic Burner. Best for home use and simple tasks. Cons: Seem to get lot off Buffer Under-runs, was hard to set up at first.
I was looking for a simple, basic burner for home use for my PC. I use it for burning cd's, making cd's, and creating back-ups and it get's the job done without any hassle.
There is nothing fancy about the burner. Speed (4x) is somehwat,...

Pros: excellent Sony quality, fast writing, very portable Cons: comes with poor software, customer support line is horrible
As somebody who always wants to have the most up-to-date gear when it comes to audio technology, a CD-RW was a must for me. As you probably already know a CD-RW drive allows you to create CDs from an existing CD or audio files, as well as create data...

Pros: Overall decent Product Cons: No Software Updates
The drive worked fine under Windows 98. I've had some problems with bad burns, but not too often. It takes up a great deal of relative desktop space if you're working with a laptop, and for some reason, the rear Pseudo-SCSI Adapter sticks out about...

Pros: Portable Cons: Buggy Software, Iffy support
I've held out on buying a CD-Recorder for years because I have little use for one except to tempt me to piracy - which I will never stoop to. However, support for CD-Text has recently become available on some CD-RW drives and I've always wished for...

Pros: USB, Mobile, 4X Write Speed Cons: 6X Read Speed, Mediocre Software
When the Spressa USB first came out, it was one of the only USB CD-RW drives out there, and there weren't many CD-RW drives designed for notebooks at all. So, if one had an USB port on their laptop, it would be an easy (and cheap) way of adding a CD-RW...

Pros: ease of installation, reliable burning Cons: slow burning speed, limited by USB bandwidth, software
Plus: ease of installation, reliable burning
Minus: limited burning speed, not the best software package
When I was in the market to buy a CD-RW drive 6 months ago, I was forced to buy an external unit since all the drive bays on my...

Pros: Ease of Use Cons: Poor Audio Software
I have been watching and comparing different CD-RW for six months now and finally found a deal I couldn't pass up. The Sony Spressa USB went on sale at CompUSA in June for an amazing $129.99. I had been seeing them auctioned USED for $160 and up. ...

Pros: Plug and Play, Quick and Easy Cons: External drives are slower than internal ones!
I recently bought a Sony Spressa USB CD-RW, I have been totally impressed by the performance of the machine, over the past two weeks. At my favorite local retailer,Best Buy, they carried the drive, but they discontinued carrying it to carry an Iomega...

Pros: looks nice, cool feet that u can color match to your iMac, and it's a Sony! Cons: just doesn't work for me.
All I have to say about this thing is that it doesn't work. ok, maybe on a rare occasion it does, but most of the time it doesn't I've only burned about 4 CDs with the thing successfully.
I used to have a top-of-the-line Dell Inspiron 7000 laptop...

Pros: USB, portable recording thats not parallel and 2x Cons: doesn't really work! damn the stats look good but public isn't duped.
Most people would collelate the brand Sony with quality, as would I. Seeing Sony was to come out with the first 4x cdrw USB recorder(at the time) i figured i would give it a try. I own two laptops, and having not only a 4x burner on them, but USB...

Pros: Dantz Retrospect support Cons: Poor Macintosh Support
This is a poor representation of Sony Electronics Storage division. While this drive may have solid roots as a SCSI device (most drive of this type are IDE/SCSI with a USB interface) it does not fair well at all at Macintosh support. It appears Sony...

Pros: Extremely easy to set up, use, and learn. Cons: None
So, you're out of internal space and you need a CD-R or CD-RW, what to do? The answer is a Sony Spressa external USB CD-RW. The USB connectivity makes it hot swappable (plug it in while your computer is on) and because it's USB, one simple connection...

Pros: Decent Speed, Few Errors Cons: Frequent jamming of Computer, Many restarts of Computer necessary!
I purchased my Sony CDRW Drive because it is an external drive, and because it uses the USB port. Both of these features made it portable, and ideal for use with my laptop.
This is a good buy for anyone with a laptop for a few reasons. First,...

Pros: Easy to install, Reliable, Plug and Play Cons: Slow
I've owned my Sony Spressa for about two years. When I was looking for a burner, the three main qualities I looked for were:
1) It had to be an external drive...I have a laptop.
2) Cost.
3) Speed.
