Pros: If it were more reliable it would be a nice zip drive Cons: Too delicate, unreliable
About two years ago, April of '98, I opted for the purchase of a SparQ 1 GB zip drive. I purchased the external parallel port model for about $200 and spent another $33 on a disk. If only I'd known then what is contained in this...

Pros: Cheaper substitute for a JAZ drive Cons: Slow transfer rate, cheap-looking cartridges
With Iomaga introducing its 1GB Jaz drive, out comes the newly rising company Syquest. The Syquest SparQ drive gives you high versatility with its 1GB removable storage. Cost only half as much as its competitors the Iomega JAZ, and its cartridges cost...

Pros: Easy setup, with a gig of space, each disk. Cons: Very fragile. Doesn't take much to ruin them.
I purcashed this product, to move mp3's from one computer to anthor. The best thing, is you can hold a gig of space on each disk. That is what attracted me to it. It is also faster than the external zip drive's. It is like a portalable hard drive. I...

Pros: ease of use Cons: higher prices for the cartridges now
I really love using my Syquest Sparq drive and $33 per gigabyte for removable storage seemed a great deal at the time of purchase. The price for other options at the time were comparable or higher. This was more easily upgraded, just buy another gigabyte...

Pros: Easy installation Cons: Eject mechanism doesn't work well, flimsy media, problems with the system reading the drive
About two years ago, I read about this
drive and I decided to get one.
I sold the Zip drive that I had at
the time and bought one of these things.
It seemed like a much better buy than
the Zip drive: they pretty much...

Pros: cheap storage, supposedly fast drive Cons: Problems with the drive, speed issues in conection to the computer(well duh, it's a parallel drive)
I bought a syquest SparQ drive when my computer had become so low on hard drive space it couln't even print anymore. It seemed like a great idea, because cartridges were so cheap, and it was supposedly a fast drive (unless I read is wrong, it was...

Pros: Large Storage Capacity, Ease Of Use Cons: None
Just got my SparQ at the beginning of this year and won it online from Egghead/Onsale Auction for $35.00 shipped to me. At first I thought it was something like a Super Disk drive, boy was I wrong. It is much more than that. Has a larger storage volume...

Pros: Fast, Cheap Cons: You may lose all data if drive fails, and don't expect warranty work.
SparQ. No other word screams horror into my ears, but lets bunny rabbit warm soak into my heart.
The SparQ was supposed to end all of my storage blues, and it was not supposed to be expensive. I had a 16gig IBM Deskstar, full, and not wanting...

Pros: capacity, performance, portability, price Cons: drive life appears to be under 100 hours
Perhaps the best, least biased, review I can make on this product is to
simply relay the saga of my dismal experiences with the Sparq drive.
It was the final product put out by Syquest before their unfortunate
acquisition by Iomega....

Pros: Easy to use, inexpensive Cons: Company is out of business
This company has been bankrupt for at least a year now. If you can find this product for sale, don't buy it. I doubt that you will get any support if you have trouble. Iomega bought what was left of Syquest, so if you already own one of these drives, you...

Pros: its a masochist Cons: its horrible
Back when this was a new product, i was thinking... i can keep buying hard drives, or i can buy one removable media drive, and then just buy disks. I heard about the SparQ drive, read about it, and compared it against zip drives (too small) and other...

Pros: None Cons: Junk
The Sparq sounds great on paper. Its almost as fast as a conventional hard drive and it has 1gig removable cartridges. The only place its great is on paper.
Originally I bought the Syquest Syjet which had a 1.5gig cartridge. Two of them were...

Pros: CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP Cons: Lack of warranty
Yes, I know the SyQuest went out of business last year. But I still find myself using my SparQ! In fact, I bought a pair of parallel drives recently on UBid for $29 a piece. No I know what you are saying, why can't I just use my Zip drive? Or, wait...

Pros: Fast, Cool, Removable Cons: Faulty Product by design
I purchased an internal IDE SparQ about 2 years ago. I thought that this drive would answer all my storage dreams and needs. I was in removable storage heaven for about 5 Weeks. Then it spit out a disk, I put the disk back in, and it spit it out again. I...

Pros: Nice Large storage cartriges Cons: VERY unreliable
I do have the Syquest SParQ drive with 1 gig carts. When i first purchased this piece of equipment i was excited to have a Large space to free up some hard drive space. The installation was easy and neat. The 1 gig carts. offered more than enough...
