Pros: none cause the break and the company is out of buisness Cons: didn't pay $300 for it
I’d have to share that computer with 3 other people. I thought that if I bought some sort of removable storage then they would be able to download things and take advantage of the luxury of living in a dorm with a T1 connection.
I looked at...

Pros: Great idea, Especially if you are always on the go. Cons: Poor design, always jammed up, and then some.
I purchased a Sparq drive a couple years ago when I heard about how much space they could hold, thought I was in for a good deal eh? Heh not a chance, lol. I was at first, but as time went along I noticed that the disks were getting spit out, and one...

Pros: Fast, cheap, portable, removable storage Cons: Out lived its usefulness
Yes, Syquest is out of business, Chapter 11. They still exist in some form and claim they can still fix drives. Sparq drives can still be had and the media is still readily available.
The Sparq drive is, hands down, the best of the removable...

Pros: Cheap and cheap media Cons: The drive was buggy, and overheated frequently
I brought home my new external SparQ drive with high expectations. I had read the all of the articles about the drive and it seemed like a good idea. The drive was a breeze to install and operate on my computer.
For about two weeks...

Pros: none Cons: Bad support, Company can't be found
I have changed my mind about the Sparq drive. Although it was easy for me to install and get to work, trying to get it repaired has started to get old.
I bought the Sparq because it was cheap and had much more capacity than the Zip. Now I...

Pros: fast, east to use Cons: no support, win98 drivers hard to get
So what, the company is gone... but the product lives on, and can be had on surplus auctions for about $31 each... I have used one for spooling files to write to a CDROM and have also used it for backups in and of itself, in my opinion it works well. I...

Pros: Cheap, cheap, cheap current pricing Cons: Hardware can suffer from heat exhaustion
Originally, I paid the full retail price of over $200 for the unit (w/ 1 free cartridge) and $100 for an additional 3-pack of cartridges almost 2 years ago. Two years ago $300 for 4GB of portable storage was a decent price. Despite this product's...

Pros: none whatsoever Cons: a total waste of money and time
If you want to go totally bonkers while trying to do what the manufacturer bills as an "easy task", then this is the gadget for you. It's true it is easy to install, just flip the cd on your cd rom and watch it go, but then kiss your sanity...

Pros: Inexpensive on eBay, Yahoo, Egghead Cons: Unreliable, no longer produced, expensive cartridges
I wish I had read others opinions before my own experience with SyQuest. I also can easily understand why they are bankrupt!
The SyJet 1.5 GB internal drive I bought from an auction site is the most cantankerous, finicky piece of hardware I...

Pros: small, portable, removable hd Cons: slow, slow, slow
The syquest removable drive is relatively easy to setup. All you need to do is pop in the driver and plug it in to your parallel port (the actual hard-drive). The drive doesn't transfer at a very fast rate but it does get the job done. If you are...

Pros: Cheap, convenient Cons: Unreliable
I purchased this drive looking for a way to back up my hard drive and get some extra space. At first, it seemed like a great deal. The drive was $150 and 3 GB worth of cartridges cost $100. Now, that is fairly expensive for storage but when I bought it,...

Pros: Cheap, easy to use Cons: Could be a little faster
I bought the external version (parallelport) for this drive. Since it is on that port it is slower than Iomegas Jaz. But it is so much cheaper so it is worth it. The cartridges is one third of an JAZ-Cartridge and the same goes for the driver.
On...

Pros: unlimited storage, faster than other removable media Cons: flimsy cartridge
Ever wanted to copy some files over from one pc to another but the file won't fit on a diskette? This used to be a problem before the advent of the super high capacity removable media. The SparQ drive is one of those that allows you to store up to a...

Pros: amount of storage space, can run program from the drive Cons: unable to locate more disks
I purchased a Syquest SparQ drive over a year ago. The drive worked excellently at first. Simple installation, easy to use. I also noted that Syquest went out of business......... so no technical support for any problems. And they did arise. I had...

Pros: Cheap base unit, Cheap cartridges Cons: Installation issues for the unwary
I got this because I thought: This is the PERFECT deal. <$40 on auction and average $10 per gig after this. (SparQ internal)
When the drive came in the mail, I found out that my BIOS had issues with the drive, in other words, until I can...
