Pros: Toner lasts forever and has never malfunctioned. Cons: The price is steep but you get what you pay for!
I purchased this computer about four years ago and it has never failed me! I use it for my home office and do not receive a huge amount of faxes (generally only 20 pages a week or more) but considering I have had this machine for four years, I am amazed ...

Pros: quality of printing, ease of set up, price Cons: big foot print, only 20 pg doc feeder
Recently I purchased an HP1240 ink jet fax after my Brother multi-function mal-functioned but I quickly took it back to the store because of the poor printing quality. Instead I purchased the Brother Intellifax 2800. There is a $30 rebate until 2/26/05 ...

Perfect for Home Office Use
by llmixon ,Dec 27 '04
Pros: Reliable, simple and quality Cons: Toner and drums tend to be expensive.
I purchased this unit about 8 mths ago, when I took a sales position that requires me to have have a home office. I choose this particular machine based largely on price (149.99). I have found it to be a very good option for someone needed a fax machine to fax and receive packages of up to 50 pages.
This would not be a good machine for someone who needs to fax and receive several hundred pages a day. I generally fax and receive 500 or so pages a week, and it is all that I need.
Service is simple, and operation is functional.

Pros: Can make a phone call. Cons: Receiving failures; (especially when you really need that contract) ; cartridge PRICE! Service;
I bought Brother before and said to myself, I'll never do it again. Why didn't I listen. The 2800 sends faxes well enough but, for me, is completely unreliable in receiving them. Problems started 6-8 months or so from purchase, No help from the company. Cartridge is way too expensive. It does make OK copies. Don't know why Brother can't make a fax machine that receives faxes even partially well (def: 30-50%). Yes, I constantly reset it.
The previous MFC laser Brother also was a junker. Wouldn't receive well. I gave it the coup de grace, with some satisfaction, I might add. It was in a different location, as well.
I had an old machine that used the roll paper and it actually worked. Well, sorry to write these negative things. Better things to do with my time. Oh, I need to go buy a fax machine ......... again.

Brother Intellifax 2800 plain paper fax
by frankfriendly ,Jun 08 '06
Pros: Works ok for the current price
Speed dial is adequate
No glaring defects?
Cons: None to speak of.
Owned this machine for about 3yrs now. Bought it from a big box retailer with a coupon.
Great machine for the small home/office setup. (less than 500 pages/wk)
Speed dial is easy to use and setup.
Only a few small paper jam issues to speak of recently. I suspect them being operator error though.
Does like to eat toner and print cartridges. Could be from a few high coverage pages and stupid spam faxes though.

OK for a cheaper fax machine
by lauramarrs ,Jan 15 '04
Pros: Practical Cons: Not as many options avail. as a more expensive model
We use this fax machine @ work. I believe we purchased it around 2 years ago. It has been a pretty good fax machine. It has needed toner & drum replacement quite often (probably because we use it so much). For the price it's an OK deal.

Set it up, turn it...
by madjan_dt3000 ,Feb 04 '03
Set it up, turn it on, away you go. Even if you run out of paper, memory remembers all your faxes and will print them out as soon as you refill paper supply. I would definitely recommend this fax to anyone.
