Pros: Rapid installation, speedy download times of up to 1.8mbs Cons: aggressive sales tactics, inept customer service
AT&T@home is now AT&T Broadband Internet for everyone out here since @home went bankrupt. The service went out for a few days during the switchover, and after a few hiccups, it has resumed to its normal satisfying speed.
Pros: fast internet access that is always on. No need for second phone line Cons: nothing major, tech support can solve one small issues with my web site.
AT&T Broadband is the nation's largest provider of broadband services and delivers High-Speed Cable Internet, Digital Cable and Digital Phone - all through a single pipeline. Their network runs past nearly 28 million homes and serves more than 16 million...
Pros: You Don't Have Busy Signals Cons: Erratic Response Times Online, Limited Service Area
On and off for the past three months, I've been using the AT&T@home service at my father's home from his personal computer. After having used this service now consistently during my time that I have visitted here, I can honestly say that I...
Pros: It's always on, you don't get "booted", fast speed. Cons: They made me miss almost 2 weeks of my prime at epinions.
For my rating sake, ignore the title
I'd like to take this moment to welcome everyone to my first "Home » Web Sites & Internet Services » ISPs" review in my short but sweet epinions history. While I won't claim to be Nostradamus or even Miss...
Pros: Fast loading web pages, Always on, downloads are also super fast Cons: Tech Support, occasional downtime
How I started to use the Internet:
Back in the mid 90s, the Internet was the latest fad. Everyone was starting to e-mail everyone else, exchange screennames, go into chat rooms, and getting the latest up-to-the-second news. I had used...
Pros: Fast downloads, always connected , fair price Cons: Servers go down regularly
Let me start by explaining one thing to you, not unlike many of you, I spend an extremely large amount of time on my computer. Most of it is spent on the Internet searching for a particular program, plug-in, reference material, graphic material or...
Pros: dependable and excellent customer service Cons: only support their own browser
I admit it openly. I am addicted to the internet. The first thing I do in the morning is wake up my monitor, check my e-mail, and check my epinions balance. I constantly have my Winamp playing the MP3s that I've downloaded with Napster. And I had the...
Pros: Fast Cons: Unreliable & poor customer service
TCI seemed to be getting its customer service act together before AT&T bought it out. Both system reliability and customer service have gone straight downhill ever since.
Here is my latest horror story. As with most @home users,...
Pros: Can be faster than a DSL Cons: Connection speed varies from 3kb-100kb
I've signed up with rogers @ home almost 5 years ago when it first came out. Back then it was known as Shaw Cable. The service then was phenomenal. Back then I was a very satisfied customer and had no complaints but now is a whole other story.
...
Pros: CHEAP-FAST-ALWAYS ON Cons: easier for hackers to get in
WHAT I HAVE SEEN AND USED
Since I have been into computers since the early 1980's. I can remember connecting with Compuserve at a blazing speed of 1400baud rate. Just looked at my modem, that I used for compuserve, it was 300 baud. So I have seen the...
Pros: Always connected, super fast speed, no wait time Cons: Installation cannot be readily done by the average user
I started up with AT&T @Home about 3 months ago, and I have to say I really love it. I work at a University and we, like most University's have a T1 connection to the Internet. @home cable connection beats the T1 connection hands down.
Pros: very fast, always on, cheap if during a promotion Cons: slow to install, adds 3 more cords to your computer area.
1 hour and 45 minutes ago, my AT&T@Home cable service was completely installed successfully. However the previous sentence doesn't mean that everything went completely smoothly. If you are planning on installing a cable modem, there are a couple of...
After having dial-up internet for a large portion of my life. I decided to switch to cable. I was trying to decide over Cable, DSL, or satellite (Gilat), Cable was without any doubt the cheapest. It's very similar to the T1 connections I have at college,...
Pros: speed, speed, speed - constant conection - good customer support Cons: price, availability
Let's get right to the point. If you ever download anything
bigger than 100Kb (a large picture) get this service if you
can. It is not available in all areas, and it's about $40
bucks a month. I can't honestly complain about anything...
Pros: High speed, always on connection Cons: When the cable goes out the internet is out, Limited service area.
I had @Home and now that I have lost it I miss it.
I couldn't wait for AT&T cable to get @Home up in my apartment complex. I lived in one of the first markets they tested it in, Aurora, CO. I signed up for it in December 1999. The installation...
Pros: fast, no phone lines required, moderately priced Cons: unreliable
I spent my first three years of college with a 56K modem. Then I spent a summer with a T1 connection and realized that I could never go back. When I moved into my apartment this year, I decided that I had no choice but to get a cable modem.
Pros: Faster than DSL on download. Cons: Slower than DSL on upload.
Living in the Heart of Silicon Valley, I am one of the few people of the world that has the availability of a plethora of internet service providers that facilitate extremely fast internet connections.
Pros: Really fast, great for downloading music! Cons: Reliability
High speed internet connections. They seem to be getting more and more popular. There are many services to choose from. Sick of using AOL alone, we decided to get a high speed cable modem. it is great in so many ways, and other times i cant help but wish...
I have been an internet junkie for over 5 years now and still going. I have tried just about every ISP that has been offered nationally and offers a free month but one day my search was over! Yes that's right, I made the switch to cable and I don't...
Pros: always connected, fast downloads, Cons: tech/customer service support is terrible, frequent outages
I have 2 computers in my home and pay for that extra line. I pay roughly $54 a month for my two computers. I enjoy having my AT&T cable internet because there is no need to have a phone line (I use a cell phone only). It is nice not hearing a dial up. I...
Pros: Fast... oh Fast... yeah Fast... ewww FASTT... Reliable Cons: lil wait for techy support when needed... who DOESN'T have this problem however?
I've been a avid net surfer since 93 or so. I've had everything from a 9600 baud (okay - that was before 93 hehe) all the way up to a share of a T3 line and I have to say AT&T's @home service is by far the most impressive, inexpensive, and best...
Pros: Fast, fast, fast. 60-day free trial & free installation! Cons: What will I do with all my spare time? If I decide to keep (why wouldn't I?) I'll spend 40 bucks a month ......
OK, I succumbed to the free offer for 2 months trial, and free installation of AT&T's Broadband @ Home cable internet service.
Even though I have been with Earthlink for years, recent issues with poor dial-up connections, unreliable...
Pros: Speed!, cost, ease of use, special programs Cons: availability
After searching for the best internet service provider for the last five years, I have finally found myself perched high atop the mountain. I have been plagued by such distractions as low-speed connections, additional charges for extra time per month,...
Pros: Blazing fast, reasonable price, great tech support Cons: Temperamental
Well, color me spoiled. I will find it hard to move to an area that doesn't have cable Internet access. Going back to a 56k dialup connection will be like going from a 56k to a 300 baud modem.
Pros: Fast downloads, when it's working. Cheaper and much faster than the DSL in my area. Cons: Horrendous customer service, frequent frequent outages, every lightning storm results in an outage (UPS anyone?)
After a few years of being told cable net service would be available in "a few months" (waiting since 1997)I finally got hooked up. If I owned the modem and got cable TV service, the promotional rate I signed up for was only $24.95 for the first 3...
Pros: somewhat faster than dial-up Cons: slow speeds most days, bad customer support, poorly trained Techs.
I have had AT&T service for years now. I have the digital cable all over my house and I thought the package would be complete with cable connection for the computer. I work at home, and I have the option of playing on the net all day if I want to, so I...
Pros: Super fast when it works Cons: Doesn't work 90% of the time (I'm online 16 hours/24)
I've had @Home installed for five weeks now. During those five weeks, I've had long stretches (up to 4 days) when there was no service at all. The service has been available on about ten days in all. The longest continuous connection I've had was 4...
Pros: High bandwidth, no dial up necessary, simple and prompt installation Cons: High monthly charge, throughput is not always consistent
The AT&T@Home ISP allows the home user to connect to the internet at extremely high speeds. The service is provided through the same cable line that is used to broadcast television signals to a home.
Pros: Speeds up to 3 megabits/second when it worked.
Easy to use when it worked Cons: Hasn't worked 99.99% of the time since installed 2 months ago & AT&T doesn't care.
When I first had AT&T @home installed, I was pretty happy - I got fast speeds, and was able to use Napster all I wanted -- it was a groovy situation, except for the fact that my service cut off 5:30-6pm each night, and came back on at 9-11 am each...
"It's great when it works" is the common opinion. But when something isn't working, which is every week for the last 14 months, it's a nightmare to do anything but walk away and hope it'll be...
Pros: Fast, doesn't tie up phone line Cons: Customer service mediocre
I've had cable internet access through AT&T@Home for a year now. I had the opportunity to choose either DSL or cable when I decided to go broadband, and it really came down to price. Cable access for me is $29.99 per month (if I had AT&T long...
Pros: Superman Speed Internet connection Cons: Not connected that often
So, there I was, trying to decide what to get for broadband service; "DSL or Cable, that is the question..." At first, I was thinking about getting a DSL connection, but all the ISPs either don't have the service around my area or they could not provide...
Pros: fast, fast, fast. polite and knowlegeable service, easy installation Cons: some long waits on support calls, occasional short email server delays
We had our AT&T@home installed about a month ago, and I am so pleased with it. On our old ISP we were considering ourselves lucky, even with a 56k modem, to get download speeds of 2 kb/s...now, on Napster I've clocked my downloads at 350+! (update:...
Pros: Sites load almost instantly, Fast downloads, helpful tech support Cons: Installation hassles, customer service didn't have correct information.
I saw the constantly running TV ads for this cable internet service, and immediately knew I needed it. It looked too good to be true, so I was very skeptical, as I usually am about anything. The deal I found advertised was for free installation and the...
Pros: Fast, fast, fast! Cons: Repairs are an ordeal, not much communication between local/national offices
Out here in the backwaters of the Midwest, broadband connections are few and far between. Before moving to Dubuque, Iowa, in September 2000, I lived in a small town of 4500 with a single ISP providing dialup service through a modem pool that wasn't up to...
Pros: Sometimes VERY fast Cons: Most times average or not working effectively
After several months with @Home service in two separate North American cities I can safely say that the speed you achieve really depends on the area you live in. Now based in the Bay Area I have found that there are many days, especially...
I have had my high speed connection at home for 6 months now. I was only able to convince my wife to get the service because of the current promotion at the time. Now it is nearly impossible to keep her off the computer.
If you are thinking of using AT&T@home, please save yourself a headache and don't do it! At first I was looking forward to the high speed internet access, but it soon became clear that it was going to be more trouble than it was worth. When the...
Pros: Faster than modem, frees phone Cons: Expensive monthly and installation fees
We made the jump. We have left the conventional dial-up modem age. No more busy signals or having to choose between gossiping on the telephone or surfing the net. Now I can do both! Since we got our cable modem about 8 mo. ago, it seem like an...
Pros: Very fast, always-on connection, generally reliable Cons: Email and Member Services sometimes slow or unresponsive
I was connecting to the Internet via a 56k modem out of my home, but frequent dropped connections forced me to look for a new ISP. AT&T @Home was offering $30 per month for the first 6 months. Between the price and the advertised connection rates, I...
Pros: speed (when working) Cons: server, email often down, poor customer service, expensive considering level of service
If AT&T@home did *not* provide high speed access, I doubt they would still be in business. I first went online in the early 90s, when 2400 baud was top of the line. Since then, I have used ISPs of all sizes, from national companies like AOL to...
Pros: I cannot say since I have yet to get service! Cons: Installation process is very painful and long
JUST the facts - for those seeking JUST the facts:
Installation for ATT@HOME was scheduled 2PM on Monday September 11, since installation can only be scheduled M-F 8AM to 5PM same hours I work I took a vacation day.
Pros: Capable-high speeds/available-better then dsl/Usually Lower cost then dsl/Modem is included Cons: Bandwith could be better/Customer support very poor/uptime could be better
AT&T@home is a wonderful product. The lack of service that is offered could be better. When calling during peak problematic times the chances of your call being answered are slim to none. The regular floor of reps can be most helpful for billing. The...
(This is about "AT&T Broadband" in the North Suburbs of Chicago)
I traded in my trusty Ameritech DSL service for AT&T Broadband Internet ("Cable Modem") and upgraded out "analog" cable TV to Digital cable at the same time. I was prompted by a...
Pros: Wonderful speed cruising the net Cons: Unreliable email, lots of outages, no customer service answers
This is one product that I can honestly say I love and hate at the same time. I have to spend much too much time on the internet. At&T@Home saves me a lot of valuable time. The speed of the downloads, the quick connect to the web pages, the...
Pros: Fast, cheaper than DSL, downloads too fast to handle Cons: sometimes unreliable, not se great support
Anyone who is a serious internet junkie or game player has ooed and awwed at cable and DSL internet at least once in the sad, pathetic, online life. At least I have. Well for a long time I had a phone internet that drove me up the wall. This ISP was one...
Hello, I represent approximately one hundred students at the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, IA. Our local division of AT&T / @Home placed a free computer with a cable modem in every school in our area, including our university. In exchange, they...
Pros: Fast service when it works Cons: Poor customer service, unreliable performance
Due to AT&T@Home's lack of telephone operators, they do offer a chat interface. I figure that someone on the other end would spend just as much time on the phone as they would typing and usually you are calling because you service is out.
Pros: very fast, reliable, barely went down for maintenance Cons: cant network computers together through service anymore
When I discovered there was a faster modem than the 56k, I was astonished. IT was back in december of 99' when I began to get into Napster. Frustrated by how long it took to download a 2 minute song, and how long it took to view webpages with loads of...
Pros: Professional installation, blazing fast speeds, quick service Cons: Interent settings should be given up front
When I lived in downtown Seattle I had US West DSL service, and I loved it. I could not imagine going online with a slow modem connection again. But, to my dismay, we purchased a home outside of the city and found out that a DSL or cable modem provider...
Pros: Can be fast, always on (except when it goes down) Cons: Shares bandwidth and ATT@Home doesn't have the best service
Although ATT@Home boasts speedy installs and high speeds, you'll find that you may not be dazzled. It's not that every customer finds them selves with a worthless service; it's just that some do. Unlike Dial Up ATT@Home is a cable connection. Staying...
Pros: FAST, FAST, FAST Cons: occasional downtime (not too much, though)
I'm on the internet all of the time... so I can't tell you how excited I was to find out I was eligible for AT&T's @Home service. You certainly couldn't argue with the start up price. Free installation and the first two months free.
Pros: speed Cons: frequent outages, awful tech support
I have been a customer of AT&T @Home for a little more than a year. In that time I must say that the only positive experience I have had is that the service is very fast when it works.
The initial rollout of the service in this market was...
Pros: Faster and less expensive than DSL. Cons: Ordering, install, and transition issues.
For 1.5 years I was with Telocity/DirecTV DSL. Due to their Chicago area line provider (Rhythms) going bankrupt, I checked on my options for broadband internet, and @Home looked to be the best choice. Less expensive than DSL, much faster download...
You know that your computer never seems slow until you find out that you can make a fast connection. Remember your first computers. Seemed really fast until you tried something at 300mz or faster. Remember when you had 4mb...
AT&T @home is the greatest thing I have found! How incredible to download off the net in seconds instead of hours. No disconnections, no busy signals, no interruptions by persistant phone callers, no fear of thunderstorms & lightening strikes,...
Pros: Occasional Internet Connection Cons: Unreliable connection, ridiculous customer service
Well, on the one hand, we've been hooked up to the Net by AT&T @ Home for several months now, so, I cannot say the service (in every sense of the term) has been worth finding a better/cheaper connection. To be honest, the price is right, at least for...
Pros: Better than dial-up. Cons: Abysmal customer service.
As I type this opinion, I am on hold with AT&T's customer service hotline for the FIFTH time in a week and a half time period. A red mist is descending over my vision.
My woes began in October. AT&T apparently failed to debit my...
Pros: Very Fast Internet Access Cons: What You've Come To Expect From AT&T - Inflated Prices & Incompetent Customer Service
My experience with AT&T Home has been up and down, to say the least. The ups have been great; the service is fast, fairly reliable, and cheap for the first few months. The customer service and value after the first few months have been less...
Pros: Speed!!! Cons: Remote e-mail access is limited.
no, I take that back...you will love it. It is worth paying a little extra (there are a lot of cheap "phone in" alternatives out there). The first convenience is the fact that our phone line is never busy when we are on the Internet (trying...
I've always thought it would be great to have a Unix workstation at home so that I could do my number crunching and data analysis in my bathrobe in the comfort of my living room. So I took the bait when AT&T advertised their offer of free service...
Pros: NONE Cons: Horrible Customer Service, Un Informed Technicians, Non Qualified Technicians, Lots of service down time with no compensation
Ok Here is my rant for the day since my cable modem was down all yesterday and this morning. This is not the first time this has happened with @home, it was down for almost three days once when I first got it and it wasn't until I called back 5 times...
Pros: Fast Internet access Cons: poor customer service
I have to say up front that I had a bad experience with AT&T at home so this is not going to be a good opinion. The overall connection was good and really fast, but the problem was getting the service installed. I scheduled the service to be set up...
My recent change of address has been the worst customer service nightmare any customer of any company could ever hope to avoid. What should have been one simple, 10-minute phone call and one quick service appointment has turned into three weeks of...
AT&T has apparently not learned that they are not the only game in town. I suspect that this is a holdover from the days that when they were. High speed access is a wonderful thing...something you can quickly become addicted to and find you don't...
Pros: Installed by AT&T Cons: Very bad customer support, field installers, and service.
I recently relocated to McKinney Texas from Gainesville, Florida. I am a computer professional and internet access is a must have in my job. In our previous location I used Bellsouth's ASDL offering and I was very satified with both the speed and...
Sure, broadband is great. And the speed is pretty much unbeatable at the prices they offer. Just don't expect everything they promise and prepare to have installation hassles.
My story from installation to now goes something like this: Call...
Pros: Kind technicians (due to their independent contractor status) Cons: Service, speed, reliability, customer service
Telephone companies have a reputation for being decidedly anti-customer service. This is, of course, for a good reason: they can be. Yes, even though we have "competitors" in the telecommunications industry, typically your house is served by exactly...
Pros: Blazing speed almost all the time Cons: Possible install issues/Lack of communication on scheduled downtime
I like to think that from personal experience, I have some pretty good insight into @Home's service. I'm going on 3 years with their "high speed" internet access. Yes, that's 3 years. I was one of the first in my area to have it.
Pros: Cable is always on, so you don't have to connect or disconnect Cons: The more people there are using cable in your area, the slower it will be
I had the AT&T@Home cable service installed about a month ago. I was very pleased with the results. I could get in and get out quickly. While I had a 56k modem, it would take at least three minutes each time I just wanted to get to a single...
Pros: FAST FAST FAST, Great customer service, Excelent connection, Definatly gotta have it! Cons: Some times down, long waiting list to get it
Let me start by saying that I absolutely love toys, the second somthing new comes out I HAVE to have it. So obviously when AT&T's @home Broadband service came out in my area and after a little research I had to have it.
I will admit the time...
Pros: speed speed speed Cons: need to have cable TV
I am often impatient with machines, and had delayed purchasing a home PC in part because I had grown bored surfing slowly via dial-up. I was annoyed by the Promise of the internet versus the Reality. Information was not instantly accessible. You...
When I subscribed to AT&T@home two months ago, it was because they were then offering free hook up and a fee month of service. Sounded like a good deal: I saved about $190 from the list price. However, shortly after that, they offered a free hookup...
Staying...
I have been a subscriber to @home now for about 6 months now and I have to say I really like it. It has the potential to be a very big company, but first all the bugs has to be taken out. Many times the network will be down and you cannot get online....
Pros: You have the comfort of dealing with a "familiar" brand name Cons: Speed is erratic; Customer Service is non-existent; they lie, delay and waste your time
I began using online services with Compuserve in the 80s and was an avid, loyal diehard dial up customer when I was offered the magic of broadband as a beta pilot customer in Culver City, in about 1997. I became an instant convert and paid them about...
Pros: 99% uptime Cons: Long customer service when down that 1% of the time
I've had 2 or 3 problems with ATT in the 3 years I've had them as my ISP of choice. One was the purchase of a new computer and I needed help reconfiguring my system. Waiting a long time on hold (almost an hour) for assistance - all to find out that on...
Having a need for connectivity I started using the service as @home ... I also connected two other places that I visit often using the service. To give you a little background, I am a network server and software expert who has worked on many of the...
Pros: TECHNICAL HARDWARE IS BRILLIANT! Cons: HUMAN SOFTWARE IS DEFECTIVE!
Bite the hand that feeds me? BITE the hand that feeds me? I'm ready to chop the goddam thing off with a rusty ax and feed it slowly through a meat grinder. Oh, hi there. Just got back to work after waiting three hours for the @Home folks to show up @ MY...
Pros: Fast and reliable Cons: None--well, I wish it cost less
About a year ago I wrote a scathing review of the horrible customer service at my then-ISP, MediaOne. Since then, ATT bought them out. What a difference that has made in customer service. A year ago it took several weeks to solve my problem (and I was...
Pros: Stay connected and travel at the speed of life! Cons: Sometimes it is down a lot, and sometimes you will loose your email.
I have been a subscriber of AT&T @Home, broadband cable service for a year now and in that time I have reached some varying ideas, opinions and feelings of this service.
Since I work online, at home, I am very dependent upon my...
Pros: None Cons: Lies from inept customer service folks, outages
I had my cable tv and internet access through AT&T for a year in West Roxbury, MA. After the AT&T@home split, the service disappeared completely, and permanently. After spending nearly a week trying to get the service working again, I left for RCN (for...
Pros: Speedy at times Cons: Slow the rest of the times, tech support sucks, always down
At&T says they are fast, and they are, but they are always down, and their technical team just isn't fast enough to repair things. What I've noticed is that its always their DHCP server, man you guys have got to fix that server. When more users...
Pros: Fast Internet Connection Cons: You will be addicted
My family has had At Home since November 2000. Now it is with ATT BI(Broadband Internet). In the past we would have outages for as long as a week but we were automatically refundend for our outages with no hassles. Another time ATT accidently disconnectd...
Pros: When it works, it works well. Cons: Awkward bundled software; unhelpful tech support.
I'm loving the current deal, where AT&T @Home is only $19.95/mo until the end of 2001. After that, it goes back up to $40/mo, which at the moment I'm not sure I'm willing to fork out. Right now, I can enjoy telling myself that there are fools out there...
Pros: Fast, Always Connected, simple to use Cons: NONE for the last five months!
========================
UPDATE July 9, 2001:
========================
Wow! Not a single episode of downtime since my last update - and still VERY fast! Awesome!!!
What - you haven't taken the plunge yet? Go Get Some!
...
Pros: Customer support is superb, quality is excellent. Cons: What will happen if AOL takes over?
Before Broadband, I was on AT&T Worldnet (dial-up) which was a fine service as well. But times have changed and it was time to move on to faster service.
For the price of $45 per month using my own modem, it was well worth it since this is...
Pros: Good price, reliable internet connection Cons: Mail server downtime, ill-informed level 1 tech support reps
I remember years ago watching a CNN story about new-fangled "High Speed" internet access. This was about the time AOL,Compuserve and Prodigy all were building up steam and I remember thinking to myself as I dialed in on my ZOOM 24Kbps modem,...
As an employee and technical agent of AT&T@home I am also a user and have to say out of all the services I have used for online @Home is one of the fastest and most well presented. I get amazing speeds and execellent service with them. Also the...
Pros: When it works, its not too bad Cons: consistent outages, unreliable service, speeds not as fast as you'd expect, service not reflective of high price
I've been using @Home for over a year now, and it seems like the service has been gradually worsening throughout that time. I stick with it mainly because of the lack of high-speed alternatives in my area, but I would not recommend this to anyone. ...
I have tried all the dial up ISPs, and even DSL in the past and Cable beats them all hands down.I use to wait and wait and wait for downloads using dialup and then sometime I never complted the.It use to take minutes and sometime hours to get...
Over a year ago, I enrolled with AT&T broadband for highspeed cable service. Under the terms of the plan that I was offered, I received 2 months of free service. I took off a day from work to enable AT&T to install the service; however, the service...
Pros: Faster than dial up, but not worth the hassle Cons: EVERYTHING Tech support is horrible Customer Care doesn't care
Well I could go on for hours about how horrible and disappointing this service is, but let me begin by saying I was disconnected for not paying my bill, according to ATT Broadband my bill was 56 days past due, only problem with that is I had not had my...
Pros: I am still thinking and cannot find any... Cons: Poor customer service, slower than 56K modem too often
I have never experienced such a bad service by any big company in the USA. The cable modem internet access through @Home is very slow. That is when you are lucky. My cable has been down for 25 days now, and still I don't know when it will be back to...
Pros: More free time to play with your dog Cons: Constantly Out, Support team are volunteers from local high school.
Service Outages all the time, Tech Support gal didn't know what DHCP was. They raised the price 6 bucks last month. I haven't even had it working properly since they installed it. I've had "ticket" in their system to figure out why my connection goes...
Pros: I haven't witnessed any yet. Cons: Tech Support and Installers are hands down the worst I have ever encountered!
A month and a half ago I moved into a new house and was unable to continue using my AOL DirecPC Satellite connection (due to a mountain blocking my view to the south)
After a little research it was obvious that AT&T’s @Home was the only game in town...
Pros: Fast, customer service vastly improved Cons: Outages can last days
When I moved, I had to give up my DSL line for a cable modem. I wasn't sure what to expect since cable modems share bandwidth on a local level, where it's hard/expensive to build up infrastructure. Additionally, I live in an area rife with computer...
Pros: No dial up, free phone lines, FAST Cons: A few reliability issues
I have had AT&T @home since it came to town. I happened to work for them at the time, so I got it at a discount, and with free installation, so I won't comment on the cost at that time. I knew immediately though, that it would be worth the cost if I ever...
ATT @home service was God's gift to the computer nerd... well the patient computer nerd. I've had the service for over a year now and can only complain about a few things. First thing is the problem with the slow upload speed... I mean, come on, I...
Pros: Super fast connection that is on all the time! Cons: Poor customer service and too much down time.
I really love having AT&T@home because it is so fast. I have such a fast connection that I can get on, check a few emails, check my Ebay auctions and be done in 10 minutes. With dialup, it used to be an hour long ordeal! First you had to dial up, get...
Pros: FAST! cheaper than dsl($40 month with leased modem, $30 if you have your own)free installation Cons: took a month to have it in, could take longer depending on how busy they are!
I love the cable modem itself, i can get up to 400k in downloading with this baby!! Normaly around 120 or so though. When they came to install it, this guy said they would have to come back in a week to re-route the cable because it was too wimpy of a...
Pros: 56 times faster than my dial-up Cons: um...none
After a couple years of struggling with ULINK as our
dial-up ISP, we decided that we could spend half the money (second phone line + ISP fee) on a connection that was 56 times faster. We had to wait a couple months for the connection to our area...
Pros: Fast, constant connection Cons: A bit pricey
It was an inauspicious beginning with AT&T. It took three tries to get me wired up and working properly. In all fairness, I already had a network card in my system and it took a bit of figuring to get all the parts to work together.
Pros: Very fast, cheap, always on Cons: Service is regularly down, tech support through the phone is almost impossible
I've had AT&T @Home for more than a year now, and while I love all the benefits, such as speed and always-on connection, the unreliable service makes me want to switch to another service. I can literally say that in the year of service, it went down at...
Pros: Cheaper than DSL, faster burst speeds off-peak Cons: HORRIBLE customer service, much slower than DSL at peak times, frequent outages
I recently moved to the North Dallas area from Tampa, and found myself needing to do some research on my broadband choices for my new home. After comparing Verizon's DSL to @HOME's cable service, I went with @HOME cable. The price was cheaper ($39.95...
I just got a cable modem around thirty days ago, needing the speed for two reasons one being the fact I just started a company by the name of internet connections and a web page to with it see www.internetconnections1.com I needed the extra speed to down...
Pros: Fast, fast, fast Cons: e-mail server is unreliable
I'm overall very satisfied with my service. I love being connected all the time and it's turned me into an even bigger internet junkie than I was before. I love how having a cable modem gave me a final excuse to get rid of my land line. I love not...
Pros: Good speeds at first. Cons: Downtime, poor support, miserable speeds, unreliable, untrustworthy.
I've been with @Home for a year now, and it has been quite a rollercoaster ride. Unfortunately, it has been a downward spiral ever since Shaw was replaced by Rogers in my area. Throughout the period in which Rogers took control, there have been...
Pros: Fast when it works Cons: 5 months to get it working?!?
I had the @Home cable modem installed five (yes, 5) months ago and the company has failed to establish a consistent connection in that time. It took 20-days after the modem was installed for them to get the connection to work the first time and it...
Pros: None Cons: Bad customer service, slow speed, the worst customer service ever
My wife and I are convinced that AT&T is run by Satan!
I called AT&T to sign up for their service during a promotion of theirs. They sent me to Circuit City for help buying a modem. At Circuit City I bought my modem and signed up for AT&T...
Pros: Fast connections during offpeak hours Cons: downtime lasts for days; email not delivered
A balanced opinion from me would include all the nice comments about a LAN connection to the Internet: always on, fast (except during peak hours), quick downloads (uploads are at ISDN speeds), and access to all the features you would expect from an...
I've been reading the epinions on AT&T @home. Bad Customer Service, non-existent modem service. I haven't run into any of that. I use AT&T digital home phone service as well and have NEVER had an unpleasant experience with them.
Pros: Speed, Less download time, No wasted time connecting to server and Great customer service. Cons: Not Available in all locations.
It's hard to tell you in words. I live in a location that local phone lines only allow a 28k connection speed. After the connection of AT&T @Home the difference has been outstanding! As you surf the net, pages change like you have a remote to the...
Pros: faster, more reliable Cons: a little expensive, may cause a program error
I recentlly got at home service about a week ago, and I can tell you it's so much better than the service I had prior. I used to have Snap, a free service, so I could not complain about that, but if it was not for free I certianlly would have not...
I rate this pruduct a 5/5 on the "internet scale". AT&T@home is a very good service and allows your upstream to be higher than any other "modem" connection. I download files off someone of my speed or higher at almost 120K/sec,...
Pros: fast when it works Cons: email unreliable, awful support
With email problems the last few days I have been able to experience just how bad the service and support can be. Chat technicians are surly and smug, and I have received contradictory advice from different ones. I have been disconnected twice (they...
Pros: Fast when it's up Cons: Unreliable, incompetent tech support
I have had this service for about a month now. I moved to a city from a rural area, and was excited about finally having access to high-speed Internet.
At first, I loved it. That lasted for about four days.
Pros: it was available Cons: outages, horrible customer service, can't get free from them
I subscribed to ATT@Home about 7 months ago (in Chicago). While there were sporadic outages (a couple of minutes) frequently the service seemed fine. However, in October I had a major outage. Ultimately my service was out for about 9 days. This can...
Pros: Fast download speeds; generally reliable. Cons: Horrible customer service.
51 days. That's how long it took AT&T to get my cable internet up and running. I called them on Nov. 1st to make an installation appointment. The earliest one they could give me was two weeks later on Nov. 14th, so I skipped my morning classes (twist...
Pros: Fast Connection - Not down that often Cons: Email is unreliable. They have even lost some of my email.
The ATT@Home cable connection is very fast and not down that often. However email is unreliable and is down frequently. I have even had email lost by ATT@Home. I have never experienced email problems with other ISP's so ATT@Home's sub-standard email...
Pros: fast, reliable, fast, easy, fast, fun Cons: AT&T is too big already, down with monopolies!
Once you go fast, you'll never go back. (That would be a great slogan for a cable modem company!)
I have had @Home for about a year and I love it. It has only been down a couple of times, one of those times for a couple days. The customer service...
Pros: fast..reliable.. no congestion.. Cons: long wait on hold for the technical support if you need it
I been a att cable user for almost two yrs. In the beginning was some problems but with the improvement of technology, ATT has also grown and develop a better system. It reliable, fast, and saves so much time of waiting to download the pages from the...
Pros: Speed, homepage features, automatic updates Cons: Cable more likely to go out than phone lines.
I have been subscribed to AT&T@home for just a little over two months now and I appreciate it's performance more each day. Access speed is, of course, the number one plus. Subscribing to a multitude of free newsletters, it often took me up to...
Pros: Speedy as lightning Cons: Email problems, speed varies, poor customer service
Well, what can I say... I was paying $19.95/month for 28.8k access (that's all I can get in my area, a suburb of Seattle 'out in the boonies' and too far from the phone company to even get 56k).
Pros: Extremely fast, always on, no commitment, no set up fees Cons: none
I am extremely pleased with my AT&T at home service. I came from Dial Ups which include Earthlink, AOL, Juno, various local providers. I have never experienced anything like it. The service is fast, and the connection is constant. I have never had a...
I got AT&T @ Home about six months ago and am fairly happy with it. The connection is very speedy and what I really like is the setup that they give you with your own opening page where you can put whatever you want on it. On mine, everytime I get...
Pros: very fast speeds Cons: slow service department
I have had ATT@home for about a month now and so far I love it. The speed is great, and so far I have not experienced any down time. Installation was fast and they did what they were supposed to do when they said they would. However...my sister lives in...
AT&T @ Home cable internet services are reliable and respectable. I don't know much about all the other connections, but I do know this about cable: you are always connected. This product is very useful to me and my family. We use it to get on the...
Pros: I will never know! Cons: Bad customer service, connect problems
I have had such a problem with AT&T Home. I'ts been 11 days since installation and I don't have access. I have called tech support so many times. They don't call me for follow-up customer service. They sent out quality control to inspect the...
Pros: Its cheaper than cancer. Cons: Deceptive lieing Indians.
It sucks like Cancer and is twice as hard to get rid of. Cancled after 1 day, they trew the switcher off. Now I have Verizon with James Earl Jones High speed internet is great but dont be confused. AT&T/COVAD does not work. Verizon does. I have ...
AT&T @ Home is nothing short of great. The cable connection is fast reliable and full of content as well. If used in conjunction with a home networking product, multiple IP addresses can be issued with no additional charges. In other words,...
IMHO AT&T @home is horrific. I had it installed for about 3 months
and the service worked for approximately 5% of that time and never
for more than 24 hrs. in a row. The main problem was loss of carrier
on the cable. The phone tech...
Pros: Fast download, always online Cons: Frequently not working, installation problems, outrageous tech support fees
I can understand that computers are a complicated business to be in. That is why I give considerable patience to people in the computer industry. It becomes a problem, however, when they take a few tries to fix things that are broken, and then charge you...
Pros: always on, far better than dial up! Cons: Transferring service is a pain, frequent outages, mail problems......
UPDATE 2/4/02-
We recently moved and took our @home (attbi) service with us. So let this be a warning you may or may not get directly from them - if you transfer service you will lose your log in names and e-mail. No, I'm not kidding. I...
Pros: Amazingly fast connections Cons: None that I've found
I have recently acquired an AT&T@home connection and I just love it! Being a very impatient person, I have tried everything to make my connection faster, from software gimicks and downloads to new and improved hardware, and nothing has even come...
Pros: Very Fast (consistantly 1.4 MB), Always On, Good Customer service Cons: Can occasionally be slow at times (down to dial up speeds)
Finally ATT brought broadband to my area! They exceeded my expectations in very way. Only took 3 days from the day I initially called to have it installed (on a Saturday, no less!). The tech was an hour EARLY! Install took about 2 hours or so, and...
Pros: FAST! Cons: My computer froze up many times!
When I were offered the opportunity to try AT&T@HOME for free for a month I was looking forward too a great experience. Unfortunately I was disappointed in this service. It was fast but far too often my computer froze up! What fun it was to have...
Pros: Fast and reliable connection Cons: No confirmation via e-mail on installation date.
Pop up Go-Hip Ad bars
This is the 4th after I had @Home installed. I'm definitely VERY impressed with the speed. Like what was claimed, web surfing is never the same again. I can now get multimedia rich content via the internet and I don't have to wait for the downloads...
I have used some of the best and worst of the dial up isp's in my time, but nothing prepared me for the revolution that is broadband service. I had just bought a house and was feeling the crunch so I was using some free isp's. When at last I was fed up...
Pros: cheap internet, friendly & helpful tech support Cons: - late installation, no rebate, repeatedly missed scheduled service calls, intermittent service
Horrible experience that lasted 2 years until we wised up. We decided to go with AT&T DSL and phone when we moved to Vernon, CT because they were the cheapest and seemed like they had decent ratings. We tried both the Pro and Elite DSL services ...
Pros: Quick to receive. Easy to install. Cons: Internet connection breaks down at least twice a day. Customer support is bad.
I've a contract with AT&T for the wireless Internet since Nov. 2006, and now I truly believe this is the worst service provider ever. Don't even mention, that they have never send me the rebate check for their DSL modem, it is nothing to compare with everything else. First, Internet connection may stop at any moment for no reason. Just imaging, that you're teleconferencing at this time with someone far away.. Second, multiple calls I made to their customer service, resulted in nothing - they just kept persuading me that the line is on all the time, everything works fine and so on. I'm really disappointed with them.
Would not recommend at&t by headphones420 ,Aug 20 '09
Pros: The internet speed is good Cons: The service and the companies internet service is horrible
If you honestly can, do not get AT&T. Internet speed wise, its fine for normal web browsing and downloading ( I have the elite service) but their customer service and service in general is horrible. My internet just randomly disconnects atleast 20 times a day, 5 minutes before writing this, the internet disconnected for 20 minutes. It is honestly such a friggen hassle to just keep on trying to reconnect on a supposed 24/7 dsl service, and if you game, forget about it, nothing worse that losing connection when your mid game. I have called at&t multiple times due to this issue, and the first time, the guy didnt even show up, i literally stopped my plans waiting for the guy, and he didnt even show up. I called them up telling them, and then they were more careful, but the guy just checked the connection and left. The third time, again, no sign of the guy coming, and my connection is horrrible.
when it works, it works well by raychouu ,Apr 20 '09
Pros: Cheap, provides okay internet Cons: disconnects too often, unreliable
The main problem here is the ability for the connection to work. Many times during the day it would disconnect for a few minutes. There's nothing wrong with my modems or cables, it just simply disconnects, sometimes leaving me with 20 minutes of no internet. I know 20 minutes doesn't seem that long, but remember, it happens mostly everyday and around six times a day on average, and when your trying to complete a project, it's pretty annoying. The AT&T staff was also late on installing it, and kept postponing the date. The advantages of this internet provider is that it's cheap. The speed's okay, could be faster (sometimes it takes a while to load some pages) , but I'm not complaining that much. Overall, it just disconnects randomly way too often.
