Pros: Everyone I spoke to was pleasant Cons: Some serious communication problems
Ordinarily I wouldn't write an opinion about a single bad experience, but since several people I know have had the exact same bad experience, I am going to break my own rule.
I am online 9 hours a day at work and 3 hours each night at...
Whenever I write a review of something that already has been reviewed 30 times, I usually try to explain what new angle I am adding. I decided to write about Ameritech for a few reasons:
1. The service is so unbelieveable unrealiable I'm...
Pros: Great service and great price Cons: Below average customer service
*** Scroll to bottom for update 05-31-04 *** A little over a year ago I became fed up with a dial up connection. I started looking for a high speed connection and noticed that my telephone company (Ameritech) was offering DSL. I talked with some ...
Pros: I didn't have as much trouble with them as some people... Cons: Have you ever tried to find a job without a phone?
Note: I attempted to get Ameritech DSL, but it is not available in my area yet, despite the fact that it is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. This is about the trouble I went through just to get my phone turned on. I decided to post...
Pros: Good speed when it's on Cons: It's off... and they can't fix it
I am a tough customer -- a graduate degree in MIS and a few friends at Microsoft have done their dark business. I also understand that technology does not often happen the way it's supposed to -- but often does not imply weeks. And I believe that...
After the past couple months and reading through all the other reviews, I wish I had never heard of Ameritech. Unfortunately, the business has monopolized my area and I have no other choice!!!
Pros: Fast, and it's DSL, nonetheless. Cons: PPPoE, and outages on first day of use.
DSL and varients has been around for little over a year now. I once had DSL service with Flashcom, and with Northpoint going south (out of business), I had to look for another provider.
For those who don't know, Northpoint was the actual DSL...
Pros: good bandwidth and throughput when the line works Cons: horrible, horrible service, extremely unreliable connection
Our Ameritech DSL line was installed in May. The installation experience was average (I've been through a couple hundred telecom installations) and the installation timeline was reasonable.
Since May, the DSL line has gone out several times,...
Pros: Better than the 56k Cons: Too little time to list them all
Not having a credit card gave me only one option for getting DSL - Ameritech - because it is convenient to have it on the phone bill. But I'll tell you, I am at the point of having them come get this piece of junk I am paying an arm and a leg for!
...
Pros: inexpensive, extremly fast and painless installation Cons: poor tech support, HORRIBLE, aweful, bad, stupid bad horrible software, spyware, adware
I am a DSL veteran. I have had Flashcom before they went out of buisness, and I have PACBELL DSL installed back home in L.A. So, I was prepared for the worst when I desided to get DSL in my Chicago apartment.
Pros: none I can think of Cons: incompetent installation and service
I normally do not write reviews of companies. However, Ameritech is so grossly incompetent at managing this service offering that I feel a duty to warn others before they choose this DSL provider.
Pros: The modem didn't physically EXPLODE! Cons: Where do I START?
I subscribed to Ameritech DSL about a year ago, with little knowledge about how DSL works other than the fact that the speed was fast and I would not have to tie up my phone line anymore while online.
