Pros: US$9.95/month; no ads; uses Windows' Dial-Up-Networking; great selection of access numbers for Canada and USA Cons: Not Free; One of the few Internet Service Providers which doesn't provide special software
FreeAtLast.com was the best free access Internet Service Provider I used during the Free Internet Access period from about 1997 through 2001. My only complaint about FreeAtLast.com was the fact that it ceased to exist. AT&T WorldNet Service worked well...
Pros: NONE Cons: Poor customer service
Poor tech support
Bad connections
Inability to connect
Dial up ISP service from the big guns (AOL, MSN, Earthlink) is getting up there in the $23-25/month range, and I began shopping for a cheaper but RELIABLE isp that would get me the bare essentials(good connection, email & newsgroup support without all...
Pros: Unlimited access/no bumping/no outages Cons: In Ohio only at this time
I have been using copper.net for about one year now and definitely will sign on again for another year when this one is over. This service does not offer a lot of frills, just great internet access at an affordable price. You get a E-Mail address, but no...
Pros: Good value, knowledgeable tech support, access numbers everywhere I travel, excellent connections Cons: No high speed options
I had signed up with Copper.net back in May of 2002. At that time I had been looking for an Internet service provider that would provide me with good, reliable connections, a good price, and non of those menacing pop-up adds. I believe I have found that...
Pros: Now Nationwide!
unlimited internet access,
email account,
affordable,
No ads Cons: NONE/Been with them since 1997
Copper.net Rocks at only $99 per year (that's $8.25 a month). These prices have not changed since 1997, and now six years later in 2003 it's still $99 per year!!! They also have Hi-Speed now for $149 per year. Check 'em out at www.trycopper.net
New to Copper but satisfied so far by stuckmojo ,Aug 20 '04
Pros: Fast Easy account setup, Reliable connections, None of the advertising seen on "free" services. Cons: None really (but its still a dial up service)
I recently signed up with Copper.net because I'm on a tight budget in my college apartment. I've had the service for about a month and thus far it is working fine. Copper.net has better connections the most of the "cheapies" and no advertising banners. It was easy to set-up (I like the connector file you download when you set up a new account). The have plenty of access numbers in my area - Western New York. Connections are OK and speeds are typical for dial-up. I'm not using the accelerator version. Especially for the introductory period (3 months for $1) its worth a try.
Pros: None Cons: The worst customer support I've ever experienced.
Their email support is absolutely terrible. They typically ignore emails--just flat out ignore them (they even tell you they will ignore them if in their opinion your email doesn't fit certain specifications.) If you want any sort of support from this company you have to call them on the telephone, and good luck getting through!
Within 5 days of signing up with them my account just stopped working. After numerous tries I finally got a response--and they told me I had gone over the 200 hour limit! When I explained to them that was a mathmatical impossibility (even had I been online 24/7 for 5 days that would not make 200 hours) they just went back to ignoring my emails.
I noticed there are a lot of positive reviews for them... the only thing I can think is that they are using shills to post positive reviews. I'd be willing to bet that most (if not all) the positive reviews listed on this site are from Copper.net employees.
Pros: Dependable connection, good price, good support, easy to install Cons: Non yet, hope it continues to run this well forever
I switched to Copper.net about a week ago. The setup was easy and fast. The price is good even with the Copper Hi Speed added on. I didn't realize how bad my old ISP was until I started using Copper.net. Had to use their support one time and got a quick responce and problem was on my end. But they told me how to fix it and that was that.
The E-mail works good, no frills but it gets the job done. You can Fwd. messages with attachments. You can add sub. folders to save messages to. Address book has an area for groups. You can put detailed information in the address book.
The HiSpeed does help for me, the phone lines(Verizon)to my house are real bad and a good connection for me is 28.8kps,so the accelator is a help. The Copper.net home page loads much faster than my old ISP
The web page is ok. It has the major news items and soprts events.
On the overall this is a real good ISP. I guess that it is not to well known yet. If it grows I hope it stays as well run as it is today
Awesome & Cheap Internet Service by coppernut ,Nov 24 '03
Pros: 30 day money back gurantee, free technical support, new extended hours, 3 months for $1.00 Cons: 1 email address provided additional email addresses are only $1.00 more per month.
Great & Cheap internet service. What more could you ask for.
This nationwide internet service is now only $1.00 for 3 months then $9.95 a month there after. And with a 30 day money back gurantee How Can You Lose !!!
I've been "copper" customer in Ohio (dial-up) for over 6 years. Over years the service is getting less and less reliable and slower. At the same time customer service became more unfriendly. For instance, lately they changed contract term requirements without any notification. As result, if you want to cancel their service you can get from your last month not more three weeks and if you wait longer you will be charged for the next month.
