Pros: No beats were skipped Cons: -
I wrote an opinion on Pacific Bell's ADSL service that accurately reflected my disgust with that organization's disorganization. After watching them trying to get my service back online was like trying to watch someone change a tire with the car going 50...

Pros: Great staff, knowledgable, high availabilty, free mail and dns hosting, lenient policies
Cons: You may hit some long hold times if you wind up needing support.
***UPDATE: As of March 23 2001, Northpoint is dead. Their equipment has been purchased by AT&T, and Megapath is scrambling to get users switched over to Covad or Rhythms. All my sentiments about Megapath still hold true in this epinion.

Pros: great service Cons: no complaints
Northpoint took care of my inside wiring for DSL. They were very responsive and after my outside installation was done by bellatlantic, northpoint e-mailed me right away with a proposed inside installation day within the week. I was very surprised....

Pros: Good sales pitch Cons: Never got service
I ordered Northpoint DSL through one of their vendors, Phoenix Networks. The price was right, $39.99, and I was told that I could have at least 720Kbps. Additionally, I was promised a free modem (after rebate) and a voucher for a free digital camera....

Pros: Always on, theoretically Cons: Expensive, slow, unable to connect to most sites, useless tech support
Ordered DSL in July through the Northpoint website, and it was installed 3 weeks later.
First of all, PSN.net charged me a $75 processing fee that was not mentioned in the offer on the Northpoint DSL website.
Second, when I called...

Pros: nice, knowledgeable technicians, great uptime Cons: possible slow downs (may not always be a problem of NP!!!)
I have Northpoint DSL service (home) through a provider. Contrary to some of the other opinions read here, my install was rather swift.
I worked for my DSL Provider (doing DSL support) and I went through the process just like all of the other...

Pros: Fast if it works Cons: Customer service non-existent
The reason I got DSL _wasn't_ for 1.5kbps downloads ... no, no mbps, but kpbs... that was what I was getting yesterday.
It's a bit better now, according to the Northpoint person I spoke to "PSN has been having some trouble with their...

Pros: None Cons: Company does not communicate within itself, long wait for tech support
When I first began looking for a DSL ISP I noticed that many companies offered bonuses for signing up with their service. Northpoint-Phoenix had such a deal going: a free DSL modem with a year contract. I called Phoenix and began the long grueling...

Pros: More reliable than cable, Good Tech Support Cons: Not as fast as Cable for the money
14 Feb 2000 Update: Be sure that whoever is at your site to install the Northpoint line actually installs a wall outlet with Northpoint printed right on it! This wall outlet has a special 'loop-back' feature that, when no cable is plugged into it,...

Pros: Once its installed ITS GREAT! Cons: ONCE ITS INSTALLED (and happens to be running properly), its great
ADSL (Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line) is the best affordable method to gain fast access to the internet. At 400 Kbps, websites with even the largest graphics load in seconds, and online games become child's play. Northpoint is not the...

Pros: NONE -- THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH Cons: EVERYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF THAT IS BAD, APPLIES TO NORTHPOINT
I have dealt with a lot of companies in my life, and this is by far the WORST, most irresponsible, incompetent company that I have ever experienced. I placed my order through Phoenix DSL in May, and as of this writing (September 15), I still do not have...

Pros: PSN, quickly agreed to cancel service at my request. NorthPoint, demonstrated customer concern Cons: PSN, no support.
My experience is very mixed. I ordered residential dsl service through PSN (ISP) and NorthPoint Communications. The salesman (PSN) was the only individual that returned my email inquiries including Covad and two other companies that I can't remember....

Pros: Better than a modem! Cons: Constant maintenance/downtimes and a lack of communication.
Having ordered Northpoint DSL service through a promotion run by ConcentricDSL in November of 1998, I've had this service for roughly a year and a half.
A couple of points to consider before reading my opinion on Northpoint:
1) I...

Pros: Promises and promises. Cons: Heartbreaks.
Even today, I squeezed myself onto internet with my conventional 56k modem. At best, I get connected with 28k. Don't get me wrong, here. During the old BBS days, 14k was just enough for most surfers. However, this is no longer the case. With heavy...
