I've been a user of Prodigy DSL since March 2000. The agreement I have with Prodigy is that I get to pay only $39.95 a month if I agree on their conditions not to cancel within the year. At first I thought "WOW! What a deal! Elsewhere I'd be...
Pros: Fast as lightning if you could ever get it hooked up. Cons: Hard as heck to get a hold of anyone that knows what they are doing!
Hi, my roommate was so happy to get her new Compaq P.C. bundled with SWBell and Prodigy DSL. She asked me if I wouldn't mind setting it up for her since I have been around P.C.'s since 1997 and even built the one I'm using now. I agreed and went to work...
Pros: DSL connection Always seems to be up. No Downtime yet. Cons: Connection times sometimes slower than 128Kb ISDN.
I had a lengthy, unpleasant experience installing and enabling DSL thru Prodigy. I recently switch from 128Kb ISDN to DSL on Prodigy. I shopped around for DSL and the monthly rate between SBC and Prodigy was the same. I decided to keep my Prodigy...
I've did weeks of research looking for a faster connection in my area. Over the last few months lots of big named ISPs have popped up offering DSL in my neighborhood. I chose Prodigy DSL over the rest because of the free installation charge, along with...
This has absolutely been the worst experience I have had dealing with my computer. I had always been spoiled when it comes to my internet connection at work. I am a tech support rep and even do tech support for DSL customers. So when I had the...
Pros: none Cons: major inconvenience in set up procedures
My family and I ordered Prodigy DSL. On Sept. 5 we were notified by email that a date had been set for the initial DSL installation. Because someone had to be here the entire day, my husband and I rearranged our work schedules.
On...
Pros: Ok computer for the money Cons: "Anti - Service" from SWBell and Prodigy
When the Ameritech (Michigan) operator told me of this "wonderful" deal for a Compaq with DSL service, my husband and I said to each other "We'll finally be entering the 21st century!" Then he said "I want Mech Warrior...
Pros: reliable, fast installation - Update on March 2002: Bankrupt DSL provider left me without service Cons: a little pricy - Update on March 2002: Disconnected without warning
I have been using Prodigy DSL for the last month in my home office. The installation was supposed to take 6-8 weeks but I was up and running in exactly 2 weeks! The technician who came out said that it should have taken much longer to install and that...
I have had Prodigy now for about 3 years and have recently went to the DSL server. I love Prodigy because I never had a problem getting on-line. We had AOL before and it was always busy!!! I could just scream! Plus, when you are surfing the web on...
Pros: fast fast internet, great customer service, easy to use Cons: expensive, hard to reconnect after power outages
I have no idea what I ever did before I had DSL. I love it that much. I'd so much rather not have tv service than get rid of my dsl. I'm that addicted.
We're actually hooked up through SBC, though our gateway webpage is Prodigy. I didn't...
Pros: Fast connection Cons: Very difficult setup / dishonest people / one year contract.
People be aware of these lowlifes who employ any technique to suck your money. To get service I called them (Pacific Bell provider of Prodigy DSL), they asked for my address and they got my credit card number (I made a big mistake giving it to them)....
DO NOT GET PRODIGY DSL by hudsoncruzsf ,Jul 09 '04
Pros: actual DSL connection is fine Cons: WORST SUPPORT STAFF EVER
I got suckered into using Prodigy dial-up with a 3 year contract and eventually upgraded to Prodigy DSL. The DSL service itself is fine, but they have, by far, the worst customer service department and billing department I have ever dealt with. It took me 6 months to even receive my DSL equiptment because my order kept getting "lost" in the system. Once I had it, I was double-billed for dial-up and DSL and that took forever to clear up. When I switched to Windows XP, they were complete inept at helping me set up my new connection. They simply could not do it. Now I have switched to Yahoo DSL, and Prodigy continues to double-bill me. I have called about all of these problems (each call taking about 3 hrs with all the transfers and disconnects) and sent letters, and there has never been any sort of response. They just have the worst support staff of all time. Literally. Stay away.
