Pros: No contract required, enabling painless cancellation (well, let's see)/
Website shows that system is down
Cons: Zero connection for most time/
E-mail system defective/
Technical Support appalling
Summary: With the level of competition in the market place (or even without it) there is no way that a company such as Telocity can survive. It provides a classic model of what is wrong with a company:

Pros: Decent speed, web space, static IP address Cons: weird proprietary router
Summary: I used to work for a large DSL company, a CLEC; and now for a very large high-speed data over cable modem company. I guess this gives me a bit of insight into how residential broadband should ideally be. That being said, DirectTV DSL's service in ... read more

Pros: No service contract; no installation fee (although a $24.95 expedited delivery fee for the gateway) Cons: Intermittent service; long help-desk on-hold times; no responses from homepage online support e-bot

Pros: The best looking gateway available from a DSL provider. Unfortunately, looks aren't everything. Cons: Inhumane, unreasonable customer service. Questionable business practices.
Summary: Unquestionably, undeniably the WORST customer service and the WORST buying experience I have EVER, EVER, EVER had. Hands down. And this is a lot coming from a technology consultant who is low-key, reasonable and patient (I waited 5 weeks for DirecTV ... read more

Pros: Fast, Free installation, no contract Cons: SDSL, Local Provider Rhythms went bankrupt
Summary: Was I ever pleased when my Telocity DSL (Now DirecTV) came up at around 800K. It's cool not to have to dial up every time you want to use the internet. It's also fast enough for a virtual private network with my office. Telocity also hosted my domain ... read more
