Very happy that it became available.

by avaloncourt , Feb 02 '03
Pros: Very reasonable minimum speeds. Very consistent service.
Cons: Communication with them can be rather confusing and contradictory.
I have Zoom Internet in the Meadville, PA area. I had previously lived within Meadville and had Alltel DSL service and Zoom Internet was not yet available to anyone. I had a less than pleasing experience with the Alltel ADSL service but it was my only...

A good ISP

by crash4sure , Jul 01 '02
Pros: Reliable connection, decent speeds, good pings to local routers.
Cons: None
Alright, first off let me clear up something that the guy a few posts down said about his 1.5"MB" connection he is supposed to be getting. There is a difference between MB(MegaBytes) and Mb(MegaBits). You get _upto_ 1.5Mb
Up to 1.5 Mbps (megabits...

They Have Problems

by 7403770075 , Oct 30 '00
Pros: It is better than dial up but cost 8 times as much
Cons: Issues with packet loss and customer privacy.
Well I will explain an earlier problem. Armstrong has a forum for there customers at www.avenueyou.com . I created a internet speed forum there knowing they would see it.
They replied to my comments in rude ways, never saying they worked there but...

Things may get better

by 7403770075 , Nov 16 '00
Pros: head office will respond
Cons: may have issues with customer web site forums
Just a few days ago I was told that the South Point area was getting 10 times the available bandwith in Jan. 2001 . So if this holds true the problem may be solved.
So since I posted the (over sold bandwith) message I thought I would update it.

Good enough, MUCH better than CoNcast

by tripforyou , Jul 14 '08
Pros: Great speeds, good tech support, stable connections, fair price.
Cons: It's cable and has limited up speeds.
In my area the current zoom 500 line is running at just over 8MB/s down; that translates into download speeds maxing out at 1100Kb/s which is reasonably fast. If you're not happy dl'ing at a tad over one megabyte per second, then you better have ...

by RTHperfect , Feb 11 '01
Pros: um, its fast
Cons: terrible service, not fast at night

by nunyabusiness , Oct 30 '00
Pros: none
Cons: slow
The service is slow. They told me that it would not get bogged down when I got it. That was a lie.

I have no other choice right now but when I do I may be gone.

If service gets faster I may keep it. Tech support said they...

Truly Fast, Reliable Connection

by mysterious , Aug 30 '00
Pros: fast, immediate connection, affordable
Cons: none so far!
My family already had Armstrong Cable TV Service, and we heard about Zoom from one of their adds. We had been using a second phone line plus paying for dial-up access, and the cost of Zoom cable access wasn't much difference in cost. Also, it was very...

Armstrong cable..why get it?

by poohnizzle , Oct 25 '04
Pros: Good speeds
Cons: Some bad support (not all).. Charging $350 to unblock ports seems very monopolistic.
Armstrong cable has been a great provider for the past few years, except for the fact that they do not allow you to get anything without paying an arm and a leg. The speeds I have been receiving over the past few years are really great, but when I go and ...

by tidbits , Jan 06 '03
Pros: Fast. Good installation.
Cons: Lack of information on service differentiation in bills and on internet.
I live in the sticks and am lucky to have cable service.
The local telco (Sprint) can only offer me a T1 line not even ISDN. I started looking at Satellite modems and nixed Direct TV's DirectPC and the other one which seem technically better....but...
