The campus is gorgeous. In fact, it's gorgeous all year long. Having been a product of mostly public school education, this is one of the assets of Santa Clara that is most apparent to me.
There's only one problem. The school is so gorgeous...
Pros: Student to Faculty Ratio is Perfect. Cons: The Cost is Too High for Many
Cut and Dry, the things you need to know are in several categories: Admissions, the campus, the religious issue, living conditions, Food, discounts/management of food points, classes/teachers,
I can't begin to tell you how wonderful Santa Clara University is. It's been a couple of years since I graduated, so I'm sure certain aspects of the school have changed, but I doubt it has changed significantly overall. And that's a good thing. Santa...
Pros: Beautiful campus, nice housing, great teachers and counselors, small classes, great administration Cons: The surrounding city is really dull. Pretty sorry student life there.
I took a tour of Northern California colleges with my high school when I was a junior a few years ago. We visited University of San Francisco, Santa Clara University, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, University of the Pacific, and UC Davis. Of all the...
Pros: near major city, good academics, small classes Cons: homogenous, small campus, too small population
you can probably tell from my member name that i chose to go to UC Berkeley (go bears!). however, searching for colleges, Santa Clara University was one of my top choices. Although I came to the conclusion that it just wasn't for me, it might be for...
Pros: Small School, wonderful faculty Cons: Big price tag
I clearly remember my first day at Santa Clara University. The students seemed to walk taller and more confidently than those at the college from which I had transferred. I later learned that students here had many reasons to be proud and confident....
Santa Clara University is a relatively small Jesuit university nestled in the Santa Clara Valley. The student body adds up to around 4,000+ with the commuter students, who actually make up more than 50% of the student population. This does not include...
Pros: Variety of Food Cons: Not necessarily the healthiest choices
Santa Clara used to have an "all you can eat" cafeteria which made the "Freshman Fifteen" hold true, however they have gone through a recent change where a wide variety of food selections are offered. SCU's Cafeteria resembles the...
Pros: Campus environment, the gym, numerous clubs, and small class sizes Cons: Not enough parking. The quarter system is tough.
Santa Clara University is an amazing school! In my years there I have received a top notch education due to the small class sizes and the professors' willingness to engage the students with the world around them. In addition, the staff in the...
Unless you can study with people running in and out of your room and have music blaring throughout all hours of the day and night, this dorm is not for you. With 11 stories of freshman running around (especially since this is the first time without...
Pros: Good location, courses in morning and evening, good choice of courses Cons: sometime classes are too crowded
I think that Santa Clara University is the best option available for those who are working full time in silicon valley and want to study part time towards their masters. I completed my masters in Computer engg. at SCU in 2 and 1/2 years while working...
Pros: great Jesuit education Cons: not too much diversity in student body
After two years at Foothill Junior College and a stint at UCSD, I began Santa Clara University as an English major in 1996. I was wary of the school's reputation of being a warehouse of prep school kids, and being a graduate of the CA public school...
Pros: Small school, Wonderful faculty Cons: Small school, limited lab equipment
I clearly remember my first day at Santa Clara University. The students seemed to walk taller and more confidently than those at the college from which I had transferred. I later learned that students here had many reasons to be proud and confident....
Pros: pretty lawns? Cons: low standards, not worth the tuition, unknown outside of the bay area
First of all, the quality of education has decreased tremendously leaving pretty much thenon-existent standard so low that I am to this day surprised that this school gets any sort of recognition. This really comes through in the type of students that are admitted to the university. I think SCU's admission standards are based primarily on the size of your bank account; I personally have met people who drive brand new BMW's and yet they can't formulate a coherent sentence when answering a professor's question. Other issues I have with this school is the fact that they were so greedy, they admitted too many students and as a result of which classes became filled to the brim so fast that it was virtually impossible to register for those that you needed (even if you are a senior ready to graduate and need only one class to do it). Finally, tuition is $11600 / quarter, regardless if you take 2 classes or 4. Hm......
