AUDIOSOURCE AMP TWO - SOLID AMP GREAT PRICE

by Placidman , Dec 03 '00
Pros: Ease of Use, Price, Durable
Cons: None
Audiosource equipment has a reputation for making great products, and selling them at extremely affordable prices. The Amp Two is a fine example in that tradition. This unit is a stereo power amplifier rated at 80 watts per channel in stereo operation....

Magnepan pals

by tcranston , Dec 23 '04
Pros: Price, silent, blissfully transparent, auto-on, runs cool even when driving sub-4 ohms LOUD
Cons: No meters/LEDs (they're cool!)
I have owned a Three for the past four years, powering Magnepan MMGs. As some of you know, Maggies are notorious amp eaters, with their low (sub-4 ohm) resistance. My old 60 watt amp would heat up until the thermal circuit breaker cut it off. The ...

AudioSource Amp 3 - 150x2
by wynnytsky ,Jun 02 '04
Pros: 700watt powersupply dims my light on powerup :)
Cons: amp's signal detection is not sensitive enough -- low volume won't turn it on
I got a factory refurbed Amp3 for $216 and a factory refurbed Amp1 for $154 from thetwistergroup.com. I thought I screwed myself by getting refurbed when the Amp3 made my stereo buzz -- even with no input signal and the Amp3 *turned off*. Contacting support wasn't easy because North America has one guy handling tech calls for both Phoenix Gold and AudioSource. He's good though because the call lasted 20 seconds -- I knew it had to be a grounding issue and he confirmed this by telling me to get a 3pin-to-2pin plug adapter. I couldn't understand why not using the grounding pin would help but when I heard it play my music I stopped caring.

The back of my Bose 301s say 10-150w/ch and the Amp3 is a great match. It has always been my thing to make the most of smaller speakers with bigger amps. I have Bose 201s (my favorite speaker) stacked on top [and playing in concert with] the 301s. The 201s are plugged to the Amp1.

I'm so happy with them I'm passing my time writing this review and browsing ebay for more audiosource amps.
