Pros: Excellent sound and Onscreen display Cons: Lacks main A/B speaker switch

Pros: Ummm... Cons: User-unfriendly multiroom function, digital input functions, poorly designed remote, general lack of foresight in design.
This thing tries to wow you with multiple digital inputs, high wattage, and lots of features. The problem is, accessing these features requires some training, and even then you have to keep referring to the cryptic owner's manual on certain items. The m ...

Aw, its not so bad?
by savatar ,Oct 01 '06
Pros: Quality Manufacturing and Components
Relatively InExpensive
Cons: Addmittedly a Beast; but manageable in the long term.
This baby is a beast; but it not so bad once you get the remote up and running. The controls are actually much nicer than the new models out there. Receivers have just gotten cheaper and cheaper over the last ten years. The huge volume potentiometer is really sweet.
Hey, once you get the remote up; what kind of complicated stuff do you need to do? Change Zones, Change Inputs, Adjust the volume can all be done at one stroke.

Controls too complicated.
by qzock ,Feb 26 '05
Pros: cheap Cons: impossible to figure out
I second the other review on this receiver. It is WAY TOO complicated for its own good. The manual is extremely hard to decipher and understand.
It took me over three days of reading and experimenting before I got some of the DVD >> digital coax >> JVC >> multiple speakers to work on Dolby Digital. I still have not figured out how to do the DVD >> digital coax >> JVC >> TV video. I am currently doing the video portion DVD >> TV directly, but pumping the audio through the receiver.
Once you get it going, it works fine, except when you decide to change the tone control, or to change the balance, or to change anything... you can end up with having to set the whole thing back again.
The manual is 66 pages long.
