Pros: Relatively Inexpensive. 64MB on-board RAM expandable to 128MB. USB. Quality Stereo Sound. Cons: Primitive MP3 manager. Battery life average. No track name display. No radio.
When I first looked around for MP3 players, I went online and read several different reviews. Knowing that the average song takes approx. 4-5 Megabytes per song, anything under 64Mb wouldn't do, and those usually go for around $200 or more.
I bought the mp3 player because it was coupled with a rebate and selling for under $90. I'll take you through my brief time spent with it. I took it out of the box, and quickly began to realize why it was only $90. Most mp3 players are made of metal,...
Pros: Small, No moving parts, 64MB of space, light weight, easy to use Cons: only 64MB
I bought this because I wanted to listen to music while I am at work all day and I didn't want to bring my Discman and whole CD collection with me. This is a fairly inexpensive portable MP3 player and it has Voice Recording capabilities.
Pros: eye-catching Cons: hissing, loses first half-sec
I also get hissing on my DMP-120 player. Very audible especially if you're playing soft music. I use it at work sometimes so I don't want to play it loud in case the phone rings, a colleague comes over, etc., so I hear the hiss louder than the music....
Pros: None yet Cons: Did not work straight out of the sealed package.
I bought the DMP-120 as a Christmas present for my daughter. Unfortunately it would not even stay powered up for more than one second. I called D-Link and got a RMA # and sent it back on January 1st 2003 by Fedex (they insist on Fedex or UPS shipping)....
Pros: Very Compact
Doesn't Skip Cons: None really except freezes when batteries go bad.
The Mp3 Player the DMP - 120 is an excellent electronic piece. I is able to hold up to at least twenty songs. For those of you who don't know what an Mp3 play is, it is a thing(like a CD player but smaller)that takes the music you download from...
Pros: Upgrade to 128:) Low price, Light and Small Cons: None
I have heard about the bad hiss, but when I got one I found there was no hiss on mine. I was really glad. I hope they solved the problems. Its Small. CHEAP!!! Its only 64mb, but its cheap to get it to 128 mb also. Its real light and you can carry...
Minimal but does the trick by dosta_girl ,Dec 21 '03
Pros: Very simple to use, decent sound quality not too flashy or scifi looking. Cons: Interface program is a bit limited and there's some static during quiet moments of playback.
This is definitely not an mp3 player for those who crave a premium sound quality. Who this is perfect for are consumers like myself who wanted a smaller, lighter, and simpler version of a walkman. In my case this player was a double bonus b/c I actually got it for five dollars less than a brand new Walkman would have cost. Oh the glory of discontinued electronics.
Some people describe this unit as looking cheap. It is made of plastic, but nowadays so are the majority of mp3 players. It's a lot better put together (with a lot less moving parts) than some that I've seen though. I've had no trouble with the player holding data or catches coming undone...though I will say that inserting the batteries can be somewhat of a pain b/c the battery slots are flimsy.
The only real complaint I have is the slight static...but I don't notice it. I'm usually too busy gasping for air on the treadmill to pay it any mind.
All in all, this is... by kman5_dt3000 ,Dec 16 '02
All in all, this is a stand-up mp3 player. It doesn't have a ton of options but runs well (has taken a lickin and keeps on tickin). It doesn't save voice-recordings into a easily-used format (not .wav or the like). So voice recording is only on/for the DMP 120. I would like more "expandable memory" but for the price, hard to beat.
