Pros: compact, long battery life, good sound, solid anti-skip Cons: noisy mechanism, no backlit display
The first thing to note is that this basic unit comes packaged in several kinds of bundles with "D" or "PC" shoved someplace in the model. It can be a problem determining what a vendor is selling even at a brick and mortar store much less online. There's...

Pros: Excellent portability, sound quality, and fun to use. Cons: A little fragile. Can be a little confusing to use at first.
Hopefully this review will help clear up a few questions about mini discs you might have and guide you toward being able to make an informed decision as to whether a mini disc is right for you or not, and also, is this the right model for you?

Pros: uses one AA battery
small, lightweight
up to five hours on each disc Cons: remote
I just got to tell you, this unit rocks! Just imagine being able to record up to 5 hours of music onto a 2 dollars disc. Also, this unit can record anything! MP3's, dvd audio, CD audio, you name it. And to top it all off, this unit uses 1 AA battery,...

Pros: Compact size, great sound quality, good battery life Cons: MP3 recording is awkward
I'm a real fiend for gadgets...from my scanner, to my digital camera, to my cd-rw drive, I am always looking for a new gadget. This past summer, my new gadget was the SONY MZ-R70 Portable MiniDisc Player/Recorder.
I did a lot of research on...

Pros: small, light, easy to use Cons: Non-LCD screen remote
Sony's website has this priced at $300. Don't be fooled! You can find this at most store for around $200. What do you get for $200? You get one of the best MD players on the market. This player is one of the smallest out there. It will easily fit...

Pros: EXCELLENT SOUND, HUGE BATTERY LIFE, BUILT IN BATTERY COMPARTMENT Cons: LOUD MECHANICAL NOISE, QUIET HEADPHONES, NO LCD REMOTE, LONG SEEK TIME
DO NOT BUY THIS UNLESS YOU CAN PUT UP WITH LOUD MECHANICAL NOISE!!! The main problem with this unit is that it makes constant mechanical noise. you can hear the disc spinning even when it's in your pocket with the headphones in!! This is not a fault, but...

Pros: price, versitility, sound output Cons: crappy recording without optical
When I first looked into the minidisc tech market I was astounded that this gem of tech hadn't gotten to become mainstream in north america. Later when I saw the prices of the equipment, I understood why. Mostly everything that had to do with minidisc...

Pros: Excellent Size Performance and quality Cons: Not the greatest headphones or remote
When I say this unit at Best Buy for $249 I dished out cash on the spot no questions asked.
First read my whol review. When I have something nice to say I say it and with force BUT when I have something NOT nice to say I say it to with even...

Pros: Tiny, inexpensive, great sound, great features Cons: Slow startup/fast forward/rewind, included remote has no LCD
I'm a complete newbie to Minidisc technology. I'd been reading about
MP3 players, and realized that to get a portable MP3 player with
a decent amount of storage, I'd be paying upwards of $600. A friend
of mine showed me his Minidisc...

Pros: small and lightweight but with a solid feel, good sound quality, anti-skip Cons: headphones, real time recording
***Note: First off, to make something clear, there are two models that are being reviewed on these pages. One is the MZ-R700 and the other is the MZ-R700DPC. They are both nearly identical except that the later also comes with a digital PC link...

I had known it by July - I needed to get a jump start in the digital age. I needed something to impress my friends and make me look "cool". (Don't laugh)
So I broke open the piggy bank, so to speak, and invested in a new Sony...

Pros: Affordable, satisfy all basic needs Cons: Style: Not the smallest MD player
This is the first MD player I bought so I am writing this opinion as a novice.
Before buying the MZ-R70, I've looked at other similar products such as MZ-R90 and MZ-R91 from Sony and other MD players from AIWA.
Well, I finally decided to...

Pros: Rugged, Tiny, Great Anti-Skip Cons: Expensive Hardware
I just got done using a Sony MZ-R70 on a film shoot. I have a MZ-R37 at home, and the R70 is basically the little brother of the R37. The R70 is tiny, it fits in the palm of the hand, and works on a single AA battery. I love MiniDisc because of it's...
