Pros: Versatile, excellent sound quality, Plays lower than most other subs, Handles copious amounts of power Cons: It been superseeded, it's power hungry, won't play as loud as a dedicated SPL sub
*note,This sub has recently been superseded by the VQ series* Now... I wasn't going to write a review on this sub, seeing as so many people have commented on it already, BUT... I just have to tell every body who is looking at comparing this sub what ...
Pros: excellent sound quality, last forever, hit hard Cons: Push air really hard and require some box modifications to eliminate rattle.
I am a huge car audio enthusiast. Ever since my first car back in 1997, I have been trying to push the envelope on what my vehicles can do. My very first car, a 1995 Mustang started out with the most simplistic of sound systems, featuring a floating ...
Pros: Power, Hits hard, Clean bass, price, basically everything Cons: none that i can think of
These subs are simply amazing. For $200 a pair (bought on ebay), I don't know where you can find better subs. I currently have two of these subs hooked up to a jbl bp1200.1 amp and they POUND. I've heard many different subs that my friends have ...
Pros: Price,Performance,Construction Cons: None with the sub, Infinity no longer makes amps.
I recently purchased the Infinity Kappa Perfect 12 from Crutchfield. I can honestly say that they are the best subs for the money. The price on one sub was $199, which I know is a little steep (you can find them for as little as $119). Crutchfield did ...
I have bought 4 of the new model of Infinity Perfect 12.1's. They are awesome. I am running 275 to each one and they slam. The sound quality is perfect and makes the stereo listening experience excellent. All Infinity products are the way to go. I...
Pros: so damn loud, sounds good, not a bad price Cons: none that i can think of
i have one of these bad boys and i love it. there is no better subwoofer then the infinity perfect 12.1. it will handle all the power u would wanna give it(1400 watts peak) i would suggest teaming it up with a jbl bp1200.1 (1200 watts) and u will not...
Pros: Excellent response, amazing punch, built like a tank, very good looking, good warranty Cons: None that I can see
Please Note:
This is the second part in my overall car stereo review. Yes, I mean my car. This was one of the many parts that work together to make this stereo one of the best I have ever listened to, competition or no. This...
Pros: Solid performance, crisp and clear sound output, Will not fuzz out. Cons: Sometimes hard to find, but not usually.
The Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1 subwoofers surely live up to more than I had bargained for. I bought a pair of these from a friend, although they were a few months old, I have still have not located any flaws whatsoever as of now.
Pros: Hits hard, no distortion, smooth sound, exceptional power handling! Cons: none.
As far as I'm concerned, the Infinity Kappa Perfect is the best subwoofer out there for under $300. I don't doubt that it could hold it's own against some of the more expensive ones too!
As far as how they perform... I've got mine mounted in a...
Pros: Great low end extension and overall sound quality. High power handling and low distortion. Cons: It could have handled about 350 more watts RMS, just joking! 350 is extremely adequate.
The scientific world says that certain species of animals can hear extreme low frequencies of 18HZ and lower. Some emit these low frequencies for communication purposes and others to startle their prey before striking a fatal death blow.
The Infinity Perfect is a very highly regarded subwoofer. It's very nice looking, and sounds excellent. I have a JBL 600.1 hooked up to it, giving it 300 watts, and it has nice tight bass, and gets extremely low also. I've been into car audio for about 2...
Pros: Great Accurate Tone! Deep Bass! Cons: Pretty Expencive, Little Distortion.
This opinion is going to be down to the point. If you want the Best bass, and great tone, Infinity is the way to go. Currently, Infinity has three major subwoofers out there. The Reference Series: the economy series, lower SPL. The Kappa Series: little...
Pros: Hits hard and not very expensive for the quality you get Cons: The 96db rating is an in-car test
I recently sold two Rockford Fosgate 10's and a Kenwood 12 in hopes of upgrading my bump in the trunk. So I looked around and I found the Infinity Perfect 12. The price was set at $219 and I was convinced that I would hit hard with just one. I bought one...
This was my second sub to own and will be with me for a long time. The first sub I ever bought was a Polk DX. The sound was so horrible it made me research for about 6 months to find the best sub so the experience would not be repeated. Someone...
Pros: Great sound, plays low and loud. Looks beautiful Cons: No longer as advanced as when it was introduced
These subs play VERY low in a sealed box, and have the ability to put out pretty impressive levels of bass. I installed one of these in my friend's Sunfire running off an Infinity Beta Digital 100 (400 x 1 rms) amp in a 1.25 ft^3 sealed box. She just ...
Pros: Sound, Power Handling, Appearance Cons: None
This sub is by far the most impressive sub I have ever heard in a car that costs under $500. One of my friends has 2 12" hooked to a RF bd1000 and he is pushing 145 db at competitions. I only have one 12" hooked up to a RF 360a2, giving it near the...
My first sub was an Infinity Reference 10" which I was really impressed with. I found it quite difficult parting with it after it had provided so much quality sound. This was until I upgraded to the Perfect twelve. After much research into top line 12"...
Man if you want quality go for this Infinity. I loved it from the first bump!. So clear so loud and so worth the $300. If you are serious about sound and want to have a system that makes your friends jealous and your Grandmother wet her drawers, then...

Pros: Sound Quality, Performance Cons: price, but maybe not!
My car, like most cars out on the road today, had a rather horrible stock sound system. So I decided to upgrade. Now many kids today, when they get subwoofers for their cars, don't care how it sounds, as long as it's loud. They want "thump"....
I had it for 3 days and the filaments burnt up. Repaired that and then the voice coil melted. I only ran 285watts rms to it. There are better subs for the money out there. It did have great SQ and good bass extension but it just dosn't handle the power...
Pros: Sound amazing, looks great wouldn't have nothing but Infinity Cons: Too big for my car
Infinity Kappa 12in subwoofer are one of the best sounding speakers I have ever heard. Never had any of them blow like I have with other company's, if it was up to me this would be the only speaker company that should make them there's no dought about that. I have compared them to friends stereo systems and they also agree that they should have chose a different company, these are compition speakers to me I would have no problem putting them in one and being confident
Pros: Great, deep, responsive bass. Superb warranty. Amazing punch. Impeccable quality. PERFECT!!!!! Cons: NOT one that I can think of. I didnt buy them sooner! ;-)
I just recently purchased a pair of Perfect 12.1's and I must say I am superbly impressed. I am pushing them with a Viper 1200.1 and I must say they handle at least 450W clean as ever. I originally was shooting for JL W6's or Alpine Type X's but everything I've read about these speakers made me sway. Infinity has always been synonymous with nothing less than the best quality and they did not slack here! They beat low and loud! Crutchfield has them buy one get one free w/ free shipping so $180 out the door is definately a deal! Out of the 90-something reviews I have read about these subs NO ONE has anything negative to say!
Pros: Clean, tight bass, very effective even in sealed box. Cons: The cone material scratch easily, it's aluminum so protect your sub with a good grill.
What a good sub! Only one in a 1.0cu ft sealed enclosure installed in the trunk of my hatchback and I can believe how much presence this sub have! Got a pair of Infinity 6˝ coax. in the rear and a pair of component in the front, all hooked up on a 111w RMS x 4 amp, the sub is alone on is 283W RMS Infinity amp and It can stand making the bass for the whole system even in is sealed box! My old 10" was just not enough. Bass is clean, tight, can handle very low frequency without showing sign of weakness. I bought mine used on ebay for 50$, already broke up so It begin playing awesome at first listen.
Sound Quality and Tight Bass by grandv ,Sep 26 '05
Pros: Well built, amazing sound, and a true SQ sub. Cons: People in prison.
I have these running off a 600.1D Lightning Audio Storm and these things sound amazing. The clarity and low bass it hits is unbelievable. I was thinking to get some Alum12, Kicker CVR, or Alpine R's and believe I made a good choice with Infinity. There were some reviews were others said they blew after a few days or weeks. If you are running a 1000 RMS to each with the gain past full blast, then yes they will blow. They are more SQ, with some nice SPL. Not deafening, but very good. Music sounds like music with these and not to mention I run the comp 6000cs for fronts and rears 6002i, all Infinity. Also with a Clarion DXZ825 these subs are absolutely amazing. Run no more than 400 RMS
and you will just fine.
Worthy of its Name! Once Again, Quality Wins Out by martymcleod ,Dec 19 '03
Pros: Accurate sound, quality & reliability, audiophile specs., aluminum cone, heavy-duty basket. Good value too. Cons: What, cons? Maybe not the speaker you need for a tiny enclosure, but that's all!
Having previously owned only 4" Infinity components, I wasn't familiar with their subwoofers-but I knew of the reputation for quality; even their Reference series was above the average cookie-cutter brands out there. I sold my 2 MTX Black Gold 10" subs. and picked up a Perfect 12.1 used but in great shape. Nice speaker! Has great numbers where it counts: low total Q (Qts), power handling, and good physical construction. Definitely worth the money. Listening to pop, rock, or just average "contemporary" music is very enjoyable with the substantial low-end the 12.1 provides. Solid sound performance: "sharp" bass notes, with excellent reproduction of your sound source. Performed quite well with my Planet Audio hybrid vacuum tube amp with sealed MDF sub enclosure. I can't complain, and can't wait for more! It's hard to live without once you've owned one. Mine came with spec. sheet, usage recommendations, and foam edge seals. I think I'll have this one for a ~long~ time.
Had sub for 2 years.... by chit_dt3000 ,Mar 14 '03
Had sub for 2 years. Wire's from terminal broke. Resoldered wire but keeps breaking. What a shame. Sub looks brand new. Now throwing it in the garbage.
These are GREAT speakers and I would readily recommend them to anyone who is interested in the best possible sound for their car. I have a $2000 system and while it aint much, the Infinitys are some of the best speakers that I have heard(keep in mind I'm some what of an audiofile). For this price they cant be beat and to get a nice step up from them plan on spending another $150-200 per speaker. The frequency range is great through out and the clarity is phenomenal. I put mine in the recommended size box and while it is lound enough for me (1 running off a MTX81000D) I think it would be better to put it in a larger box. (rockford makes some of the better airtight boxes you can find)
Infinity subs are knoown for there combination of SQ and SPL and this is very true. At a bass comp this past summer mine hit 145.9 (2-12" perfect in ported box). They also sounded great but wearn't as loud in a smal sealed box as recommended.
I will never waste my money on another Infinity product again. It is a very weak standing sub if you put any sort of power towards it. I had a 12 perfect in the back of my Jimmy in a ported box with a 500 watt RF punch pushing it, and more amps running through my truck powering my components. I than bought a cap to go with the setup to get rid of the annoying headlight dimming. It hit harder and sounded nice but it didn't take 2 days before it smoked up and blew out. I than took it in under warrenty and replaced it in the box and at half volume it seperated out at the papercone on the backside like the glue was bad. I than went through 3 more the same damn way, I even tried a small sealed box. So in my book for such an expensive sub, and suppose the be the better out there it SUCKS. I have a RF now in replace of it and are yet to have a problem.
my first set of 12.1... by kenny_dt3000 ,May 23 '02

Bought one Brand New from... by rikter8_dt3000 ,Apr 06 '02
Bought one Brand New from Crutchfield. Running 2 12" subs (one Kicker S12D, and this sub) off of a Kenwood Excelon 401M amp (approx 1K watts @ 2 ohms). Popped the Infinity Perfect within the week in its sealed enclosure. The cone had separated from the voice coil assembly. It looked as if it wasn't properly glued. First time I have had a sub of this price and "Quality" fail. Replacement sub did the same. May have been a bad production run? So Im giving it a rating of 3.
