Home Automation

by travelplus , Jun 19 '02
Pros: A good voicemail system for home or work.
Cons: An expensive toy. No dial by name directory.
I have had the Panasonic 2 line system since last November and I really enjoy its feautres. Even some companies fail to offer the features of this phone. Here is my own review from personal everyday use. I won't explain the answering machine in detail...

Awkward for Home Use

by justinm , Feb 12 '01
Pros: multi-line, sound quality and handset construction, easy to set up, caller ID
Cons: can't interrupt answering machine, poor paging, hard to transfer calls to other handsets
I purchased this phone system for use in my home. Though it is probably the best option for people who want multiple lines and cordless handsets, it is really designed for small business use and as such doesn't support particular home-use scenarios very...

Panasonic KX-TG2000B - Great Small Office Phone System

by KAR120C Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Feb 05 '02
Pros: Great sound and construction quality, ease of use and functionality
Cons: Can not use multiple mailboxes in answer mode.
I recently had to replace my office phone system to eliminate a barely functional Siemens multi-line phone. I also needed a new answering system. Our office has gone through a number of answering systems over the years. All have left something to desire. ...

You're gonna love it...

by jajacohen , Feb 22 '01
Pros: Easy to use, easy for non techies to use and learn to use.
Cons: No Mute button. Headset compatibility may be an issue for the base unit.
I have a home office and always had a problem when the business line rang and I was not in the office. I wanted a cordless phone for my business line but it was difficult to pick one because I could not find one that was feature rich.

Finally...

Quality good, features bad (not for the home)

by jedk22 , Aug 12 '03
Pros: Sound Quality, Handset Distance, NiMH batteries
Cons: Directory/Caller-ID, transfering, remotes "Stand Alone", no mute button
I'm kind of disappointed this expensive phone system. I used to have a Siemen's phone system, but the sound started to degrade after a few years, so I switched to this more expensive Panasonic system. The phone has a nice feeling to it. I like ...

Best phone system for a family

by boochi3 , Jun 27 '02
Pros: Easy to use, no phone wiring necessary for each handset
Cons: When a ringer is set to "off" you cannot page it
I have a home office and three kids (11, 13 and 15 years old) and this phone system is awesome! We've been using it for about 9 months now. The kids phones are set to not ring when the business line rings so they don't answer my business calls. I also...

Excellent small business/professional phone.

by SEMAJ , Dec 18 '03
Pros: Excellent small business/professional Phone.
Cons: No Mute Button! Base must be reset periodically.
Operating a small business or professional office and trying to find the ideal phone system is quite a chore. Custom phone system providers tend to offer products that are either outdated or don't offer the option for mobility within an office setting. ...

A bit much for home use

by louisd , Dec 27 '01
Pros: Very clear sound, well constructed handsets, multi-line, caller ID
Cons: Many complicated to use features, cost
The Panasonick TG2000B is a fully features 2.4GHz cordless answering system. Clearly designed for small businesses the system can be a bit complicated for home use.

My favorite things:
1) Sound quality greatly surpasses any cordless...

Pros: Good Business Phone; 2-Lines; Excellent Quality; Versatile
Cons: No Mute Button!
I have been looking for a good business phone that has enough features and with good sound quality. This model is an excellent home-office tool. Perhaps I am not using it as most people would use it. I have a second line wired to my office only so...

BAD BAD business choice!

by sthomas82 , Feb 02 '06
Pros: none
Cons: panasonic has temporary fixes to eat up the warranty time
Horrible- i have had nothing but problems with my system in my business. It may be fine in a home enviroment or in a business that does not require more then 3 handsets - but i purchased it because of its expansion capabilities. I am looking for a class ...

decent home office product

by lfinato , Sep 25 '03
Pros: Works well, easy to use, solid build
Cons: Other than what's noted above just plain too much money for what you get.
Having lived with a Siemens 2400 system for far too long I finally gave up as they offered no incentive for me to try their new 8800 system even after acknowledging the previous system is/was a dog. So after researching and ebaying I found this system in ...

Great Small Business Phone

by b4paces , Nov 09 '04
Pros: Battery life,durability,sound quality,answering machine pager,headset jack
Cons: Cannot put music or a pre-recorded message on the hold feature
I run a small, but very busy repair shop. I'm alone most of the time, and need the flexibility of a cordless. I really enjoy the headset jack, for those times when I'm put on hold and need to get other task done, I can move around with my hands free. ...

Pass

by wawalu , May 25 '03
Pros: good reception
Cons: batteries expensive; handsets failed after 18 mos; no mute
I paid too much for this phone expecting much from Panasonic based on prior good experience with a different model; handsets gave out after 18 months; they will charge me $75 plus shipping to replace handsets with reconditioned ones; but new handsets...

PanaSonic KX-TG2000B

by oceanbear , Dec 29 '02
Pros: Clear transmission - Easy to setup
Cons: No speed dial
I had a Seimens unit prior to this. The Panasonic outperformed the Seimens unit in every way. I was able to get as much as 200 ft. away from the base unit before static started to come into play. Had some problems using the unit with the D-Link wireless...

great soho item

by froggger83 , Jun 10 '02
Pros: sound quality, well constructed, eliminates need to run wires
Cons: poor handset battery life, complicated functionality
Bought this for my recently purchased home. The previous owners didn't have the builder put phone jacks in the entire upper half. Luckily a system like this only requires wiring for the base. I have used Panasonic cordless phones in the past.....

Functional Office Phone

by bedellr , Jul 10 '04
Pros: Base unit quality is good. The answering system, range and caller ID system are great.
Cons: Cordless sets not reliable, life is about 2 years. Features worked off and on.
I have used the phone system with 2 extensions approximately 4 years. I bought it for my home office so that I would not have to have jacks in all areas and could page one another. I like the features on the base unit. Some of the functions ...

Poor voice prompts & ringtones
by rmbracalente ,Nov 05 '06
Pros: Has yet to spontaneously combust
Cons: Poor design foresight. No mute...what were they thinking?!?
When callers select an extension by pressing (extension)#, the phone says to them, "pleasewaitamoment" and then begins emitting single "beep" tones as the extension phone is ringing. Problem is, most people don't hear the phone say, "pleasewaitamomement", but they do hear the beep & think they should leave a message. Then, they get really confused when they hear the next "beep" (assuming someone hasn't picked up the phone by then). I am constantly either a) picking the phone up & hearing the calling party speaking as if they think they are leaving a message, or b) tail-ends of messages beacuse the calling party was leaving the beginning of the message the whole time the phone was ringing, and all that was recorded was the end of the message once the answering machine kicked in.

Oh, and there's no mute button. Like, why would anyone buying a multii-line speakerphone want THAT feature :(

Worthless Junk!
by getbiz ,Mar 24 '04
Pros: 2-line
Cons: Lousy sound. Terrible battery life. No handset speakerphone. No mute button. Hard-to-read LCD.
I almost loved this system when I first bought it a little over a year ago. There were a few things not to love, but on the whole, there weren't many alternatives in the 2-line phone universe. I even added handsets less than 6 months ago. BIG MISTAKE.

New handsets fully charged lasted less than 20 minutes of talk time. Both new and old handsets developed what started out as a slight buzz and now the sound obscures most voices. It is not the line - I tested with both corded and cordless phones. Only with this system is there a problem. The answering machine message is as clear as can be, but the buzz comes through even the corded handset on live calls.

Proximity is not a factor as the buzz is the same whether the handset is 5 feet or 50 feet away.

I tried to contact Panasonic customer service and was told, "Sorry, it's out of warranty."

This is the second piece of Panasonic junk I've had the misfortune to purchase. Panasonic used to be a great name with great quality. Evidently it is no longer.

Why did I buy this?
by ksargen ,Mar 05 '04
Pros: Excellent features for small business, very flexible, does not require additional wiring.
Cons: Ours was born broken, apparently.
We bought this phone system, thinking it would be the perfect solution for our small business. I was so wrong.

First, it has transmission problems if you plug it in anywhere near anything else - computer, fax machine, lamp, you name it. Which means it really isn't going to like being in a small office with all of the above in close proximity.

Then the real trouble started. As of today, no one can use anything but the corded handset, because neither party can hear what the other is saying. Totally worthless. I have to go out tomorrow and buy a whole new set, because we cannot afford to have the phones out of commission for the weeks it will take to get this sorted out.

FORGET IT
by strezise ,Oct 22 '04
Pros: easy to use
Cons: doesn't work and no customer service support
If you need your phone- do not buy this one. I purchased this system and within a few months the separate handset started to fail- it could not "establish a link" to the base. Off it goes to the Panasonic repair center. It comes back with the same problem. Now Panasonic wants me to send the whole system back and do without a phone for 2 weeks or more. As a self employed person, this is unacceptable. I will never purchase another Panasonic phone- the phone stopped working within a few months and support is terrible.
