Pros: Reduced background noise. Handset styling. Cons: Base unit is in 2 pieces. No 1 touch speed dial buttons.
The VTech 5831 is a 2 piece digital cordless telephone. It is one of the first telephones to utilize the 5.8 GHz frequency and can expand to add up to 5 optional handsets to bring the number of usable handsets to 6. This will allow you to put a handset ...
Pros: Uncrowded 5.8 GHz Band. Styling, ease of set-up, speaker-phone in handset. Cons: No answering machine included.
Two separate units takes more space. Long-term quality.
See 2004 follow-up addition below I recently set up an 802.11b wireless network in my home office. The biggest problem with WiFi is that it uses the same 2.4GHz band that many cordless phones use. So on a fairly random basis one would pick up the ...
Pros: This unit includes everything but voicemail. You should buy this one. Cons: None - I'm very pleased
After reviewing other Epinion comments and other 5.8 Ghz offerings, I decided to try the VT-5831. I'm 60 years old so I'm not prone to quick or subjective judgments. Short version; I'm absolutely delighted with this phone. Long version: I've read ...
Pros: Decent range, an impressive array of features, ease of use and oh yeh, cool styling! Cons: Vtech had an almost perfect phone, but ruined it with a lousy battery.
My first experience with this phone was when Bellsouth sent one with their logo on it. When I received my first bill for it, it promptly was returned as they had told me the phone was “just $30” not 6 (yes, 6) installments of $30!! Installments?!! On ...
Pros: Speakerphone in handset. 8 ring types for both base and handset. Cool design. 5.8 Ghz. Cons: No voicemail button. No Caller ID led indicator. Returned twice.
I finally got the courage to try a Vtech after reading about how they seem to be putting out pretty good phone products. The reason I purchased this model is because I bought a studio that only has one phone jack in a not so convenient location. So I wa ...
Overall the VT5831 is a very nice system that offers pretty much everything that you could wish for ... we are talking here full expansion, handsfree on but the base and the handset, nice clear display, features galore with an impressive set of options. ...
Pros: Stylish, Great Reception, Expandable Handsets available, Lots of Bells and Whistles, Value. Cons: No Answering Machine, Number saving could be better.
I recently purchased the Vtech 5.8 Ghz cordless phone with an additional handset for my home business. Before I purchased (like everyone should) I looked here for comments and wasn't overwhelmed with what I read. There are "issues" with it not being a ...
Pros: Tons of features. Speakerphone in handset. Cons: Sounds is not as clear as it should be.
A pretty descent phone. The only thing is that the range isn't so great for a 5.8 ghz phone. My last phone which was a Panasonic 2.4 ghz phone actually had better range. Don't ask how, maybe it had something to do with quality. Also the sound is not...
Pros: Multiple handset capable. 32 number memory registers. Handset speaker phone. Vibrating ringer. Cons: Poor range
First of all I'm a cordless phone junky and have to have the latest and greatest. My long range champ is an old Uniden 900mhz DSS EXS 9800. I have yet to find a 900mhz or 2.4gig that will beat it. Based on the hype of 5.8gig I thought the Uniden might...
Pros: Speakerphone in handset AND base station. Battery backup for power outages. Cons: Not true 5.8 GHz. Wall mount hardware is abnormal. No answering system built-in.
Don't be fooled by the terminology, because this phone should be called 5.8/2.4 GHz: Since this is a common marketing ploy, please allow me to share a little history. When the 2.4GHz phones first came out, I attempted to purchase a Panasonic ...
Not reliable- Not 5.8 both ways by f1isbest ,Feb 12 '04
Pros: Looks nice, good battery Cons: Terrible reliability and reception
After 2 months of ownership, we have returned it. We had 2 handsets fail, and always had interference. We have no idea why we had interference because we do not have a wireless network or anything else transmitting in this band width. We exchanged this product at Best Buy for the Panasonic 5.8(both ways) 5100m and 2 handsets. Which the new set works great.
Pros: No built in answering machine, not needed, good battery life Cons: Everything else, construction, call quality.
I've had this phone for over a year now and have found it a very poorly constructed cheap unit.
After a while the buttons don't respond unless pushed VERY hard. the headset jack provides awful quality compared to Panasonic. Call quality in general pathetic.
Overall very disappointed, you should really shop around, undoubtedly you too will be sorry
Really wanted to like this because it looks so slick. The phone is slender and feels like a cell phone. LCD screen has more pixels and is easy to read. Menu navigation was fine. Wanted 5.8 ghz to avoid wi-fi interference. However, this phone is dual band, so broadcast from handset to base is 2.4 ghz -- so this is not really a 5.8 ghz phone. The reason we finally returned it is the sound quality of the handset. The problem is not so much in hearing the caller or even what they heard at their end. The problem was a persistent echo that made it annoying to use the phone because you heard a slight echo of yourself speaking. Who needs this for $160 bucks? Bought a Uniden 5865 instead. Much better.
VTEC 5.8 GHz is an excellent system. It has crystal clear sound. Battery life never fails. It is easy to use and far preferable to the 2.4 GHz Siemens system I have. Only drawback is this is a single line phone system, and I have two lines. Still, it is far superior to anything I've used and VTEC makes great products.
Vtech VT2600 * 2.4GHz Extra Handset / Charger * Single Line Operation * Caller ID / Call Waiting * SpeakerphoneWill Not Work Without Base: * VT2651, VT2656, VT2665...
