Ricoh RDC-7 Digital Camera

Pros: Size, Style, Price, Picture Quality, Great Features, Ample memory, good software, USB connection, ....the list goes on.
Cons: Only that I didn't buy it sooner.

In researching this camera I frequently came up against the manufacture tag of this product as an "image capture" device. Rather strange sounding considering it is basically a sleek looking digital camera, but just wait till you get your hands...

This camera is really funny looking. It is very flat and unlike any other camera you are used to using. Aside from it's unusual appearance, there is a problem with it. The buttons and dials don't seem to be in the right places. If you are used to...

Pros: Swivel screen, great macro mode, good photo quality, interval mode, manual focus, document duplicator.
Cons: Difficult controls, slow autofocus, no aperture control, very limited shutter time control.

This was my first high-quality digicam, and it has definitely proven its worth over the time. I think I have no other camera that has been used as extensively, simply because I am now upgrading cameras much faster. Image quality is good, focus is slow, ...

Pros: Flip screen, Small stealth size, 8 mb internal storage, realview optical view finder
Cons: Battery consumption, recording wait with larger files, no lens support, remote control comes separate

The camera is the only camera that will fit in your pocket and include a flip screen.

A Close up mode, text mode, for document capture is worth the price of the unit, again Spy mode.

All-in-all I am a satisfied user. I find this camera, in its non-Pro Mode, to be user-friendly. I haven't used the Pro-Mode yet. I have been using the camera for 1.5 years - had to send it to the Ricoh's repair center in California twice for the same LCD (lost of image) problem. However, after having to spend time navigating through the automatic voice promts to get to the service department, I found the service department to be informative and courteous. Each time I use the camera in public, I get compliments on its design.

I have had this camera for two years, and it has produced many great photos, and stood up to children and lots of traveling. It is great for all round photo taking, and can create some truly fantastic still life shots once you get the hang of the pro photo features. But straying from the very easy to use point-and-shoot option is complex and a little frustrating at first. Also, this camera is not very well suited for fast action shots due to the lag between button push and image capture. Conclusion: High quality images, and solid workhorse that will blossom if you make the considerable effort to learn the features.
