Great little camera but it is just that. Let me clarify myself, I purchased the Toshiba PDR-M60 (2.3 megapixel cam priced at $399) and returned it for the Sony DSC-S30 (1.3 megapixel cam priced at $399) because the Toshiba's body felt cheap! The Sony...

As my first digital camera,... by matt_dt3001 ,Jun 16 '02
As my first digital camera, it is great! Not top of the line but it has everything I need; nothing I don't. Great clarity, landscapes and indoors. The original battery is rechargeable using an in-camera recharger and cord. Other brands make you buy a rechargeable battery - unacceptable. The rotating LCD is nice for fun pictures so you can view the picture as you take it (ie. at concerts or of yourself with friends). Megapixels above 1.3 are now available. Minor drawbacks: 1)LCD is hard to see in bright light. 2)Like most cameras, you'll want to buy a bigger memory stick. Overall, I recommend this camera to anyone - especially beginners.
I have taken a couple... by sammy_dt3005 ,Apr 22 '02
I have taken a couple thousand pictures with this model and love the overall results. It is small enough to fit in my pocket, lasts all day typically on a battery, great simple point and shoot digital with good picture quality in doors and outside. The telephoto capability is great for most all general applications, I have used it on travel for landscapes, at weddings, for baby photos, close up of automobile details and general everyday photos. I upgraded with a 64MB and a 128MB memory sticks and a second battery, which never lets me run out of power or capacity. This combination provides a couple days of good continuous travel tour shooting without a down load to the laptop. I have recommended this model to several persons and everyone that sees my photos are impressed. The only drawback that I see is it is difficult to see the viewfinder in bright sunlight and dark evening or in door places at night.
