Pros: great picture quality Cons: ease of use, poor sound quality, customer support
A great looking slick machine with 4 major defects:
Customer Support
Whatever you do, don't buy this camera. Although it has a great picture quality it is extremely hard to use. It took me a couple of hours, most spent waiting...

Pros: Image, portability, Cons: Hiss problem, small LCD screen
Let's start this review by stating what is WRONG with the VX2000:
1) When the 'Auto Gain Control' is turned off (and sound levels are manually operated) you'll have a terrible sounding hiss on top of anything you film. It's a well known...

Pros: handle, LCD screen, crisp video playback Cons: some buttons are confusing
I have been a camera man for about a year now, and this camcorder can shoot in almost every angle. It has a sturdy handle so a person can record while running while keeping a smooth and clean shot.
I have been recording my friends...

Pros: Wonderful picture and sound quality; LCD screen; three-chip CCD Cons: Pricey at over $3,000; bulky
In the mid-90s, Sony came out with the VX1000, a professional quality digital camcorder loaded with features and under $5,000. Sony makes claims that this is used professionally, by newscasters, independent (and even some major studio) filmmakers,...

Pros: very powerfull three chip camera, light weight compared to other cameras in it's class. Cons: The battery life is a bit short, I recommend two batteries.
Sony does it again with this three chip monster of a digital video camera. This camera brings power of digital video out of the closet and into your hands.
Features
There are quite a lot of features that stand out in this camera....

Pros: Excellent Video, Many Many Excellent Manual Controls, Excellent Low Light Performance, Cool Design Cons: Bulky, No 30fps Progressive Scan Video (only 15fps)
I still remember my first experience with camcorders. It was an old full sized VHS Memorex camcorder my family baught when I was 12. Now I'm 25 and boy have camcorders changed. No more analog, all digital now! Of recent years I have had an oppurtunity to...

Pros: Great quality Imaging, easy to use, great features Cons: expensive
I have had a lot of trouble with camcorders, from faulty lenses to broken circuitry and all this had happened without me even taking the thing out of the box. So when it came time to buy a new camcorder i thought reliability, quality, and a name to back...

Pros: Full manual control, custom presets, versatile, all controls in the correct position. Cons: Anodised finish looks "plasticky" and marks easily, no overide switch to maintain standby mode.
We use this camera mainly for recording surgical procedures, clinical conditions for teaching and medico- legal purposes.
Colour rendition and white balance are faithfully reproduced in even low light, fluorescent lighting, and markedly...

Pros: Low light shooting is perfect, ergonomically correct, crisp clean sound, long lasting battery life. Cons: No record button on top handle
This camera is amazing. I own a small film company called Growling Dog Productions. We make action sports videos. We previously had a smaller Sony for only the close up stuff. When I first got it I wasn't really sure how it was going to compare to the ...

Pros: The excellent automatic and low light functions- Quality and ease of use. Cons: Of course- PRICE
I must admit I am a skeptical buyer. I purchased a Sony TRV67 but returned it because I was unsatisfied with the microphone and picture quality. I then purchased a Sony VX2000 from National Camera and Video for 2,899. As a student interested in film,...

Pros: quality video & audio, lots of options, DV quality, size of camera Cons: price can be steep, you just have to search for a good one
As I read through others reviews of Sony's Vx-2000 camera I couldn't help but think that most of them had probably never touched this particularly camera before. I am currently working for a film production studio in MI, and all we have for our mini-DV...

Now that the VX2100 and PD-170 are the top billers of Sony's Prosumer line of MiniDV camcorders, The mighty VX2000 will be approaching lower and lower prices from most retailers and pretty much every reseller. So if you are in the market to purchase an ...

Pros: Great image quality. Cons: Tragic audio quality. Makes an otherwise fine product unsatisfactory and unusable.
Don't buy a VX2000. The audio "hiss" problem makes the device useless. Pity, because in other respects the camera is very good.
Checkout http://www.sonytheft.com and do a web search for "VX2000 Hiss".
Sony have got some spin about...
