Pros: Good clarity, styling, and fold out veiwer. Cons: At 3,200 you should use this camera for more than birthday parties.
If your semi serious about video recording or your just loaded and looking for a fun toy you came to the right opinion. The SONY DCR-VX2000 is the second in a line of camera recorders that started in 1995. The first, DCR-VX1000, was also a 3 chip...

Pros: Good picture and sound quality. Cons: Price
3,200?!?!?!?!?! What?! You have to be kidding me. I borrowed this camcorder from a friend and when she told me the price, I gave it right back. I'm not going to handle a device that costs one fourth the price of my car. It takes pictures though, freezes...

Still an Excellent Camera!
by distorshun ,Mar 09 '07
Pros: Excellent quality, great low light performance, very affordable. Cons: None other than the fact that it is a slightly older model.
I know I know, this review should have been written 6 years ago, but I'm here to tell you that the Sony VX2000 is still a great camera! I have 2 VX2000's which I use for wedding videography and find that they perform exceptionally. The picture quality is excellent, the low light (1 lux) is probably one of the camera's greatest assets in alot of the low light situations that you will run into shooting weddings. I have not had any problems with either of my cameras...but I do take care of them well and avoid using the deck to rewind, ff, etc. The prices on these cameras are excellent now due to the fact that it is an older model and most retail outlets are selling the newer VX2100. You can find a good VX2000 on E-Bay for $1,200 to $1,500...a great price for an excellent camera.

Sony makes another fine product!
by EARLSIMPSON ,Nov 08 '03
Pros: Price, features Cons: no XLR inputs
Summary: Outstanding camera for the $$$$
Review: I am just beginning to learn the features of this quality camera. But my initial impression is WOW! I bought it and the sony DSC72 from 6th Ave. They are an authorized Sony dealer and also had a great price. They charged my card two days after it shipped. WOW!!! Double boxed and everything worked out of the box. Full US warranty! Factory sealed! What can I say. I am a happy customer. PS// This is the 5th product I have purchased from 6th ave in two years.

Accurate, Fast, Great Feel and Fun to use
by hwillnow2 ,Oct 07 '03
Pros: Great feel and looks. Three ccd sensors make accurate color reproduction. Cons: Need to use the remote with playback since buttons are so small.
I am not a professional video guy. I am a professional still photographer. I purchased this camera to take movies of my grandkids. I wanted a serious camera with a real capabilities.
The feel is great, the image quality is sharp and if you don't care to use all the features you can set it on automatic and just shoot away. Sound quality is outstanding using only the mike on the camera. The lens shoots in very low light. I purchased the 2 1/2 hour battery the camera uses very little power even with the video screen open.
When in bright sun the camera tells you which Density filter to use, two of them built right into the camera. I get a lot of comments every time I use it. You don't even notice camera shake when playing your video back.
