The ever-improving price/performance ratio of consumer electronics stops for no product, including the JVC XV-723GD. Up until late last year, this DVD player, featuring progressive-scan output and DVD-Audio capability, looked like a bargain with its...
Pros: Outstanding Quality In The Arena Of Audio And Video !!! Cons: None, It Satisfies All Aspects Of High Quality Movie Entertainment !!!
Let's take a while and think about how generic brands are better than so called name brands. If you have managed to come up with a few points then you will understand where I'm coming from. JVC might not be as well known by the average consumer as...
Pros: Great audio and video, with a lot of features. Cons: Very few DVD Audios available, makes DVD Audio function limited.
This JVC player is perfect for the person who wants it all, but can't afford it all. The player has DVD-Audio capabilities for the best music you can hear. However, they are difficult to find, so that feature may be a bit limited. But even excluding...
Pros: Awesome Picture,Nice features, Low price for Progressive scan. Cons: Hard to find an XV-D721BK! Cheap, tiny, useless remote.
I'm hooked. I'm a digital junkie, I admit it.I bought the digital big screen ( Mitsi 55807 ), I already had a DVD player and I was stoked. THIS was going to be awesome.
It was impressive,no doubt about that. But my 2 year old toshiba DVD...
Pros: Excellent Picture and Sound Quality! Cons: Buttons on remote are too small & green text is difficult to read!
Wow! Where else could you buy a DVD player with all these features (DTS, progressive scan, zoom, strobe, shuttle jog & more) at such a great price. I was even more fortunate - the machine was on close-out at Best Buy for $259!!!!!
I took this one...
Pros: JVC can't be beat for price/performance ratio. Many Extras, Great Picture Cons: A little complex to tune to my liking, remote a bit unresponsive at times.
Took the dive for a progressive scan DVD player to match better with my capable TV. Amazing improvement. JVC was about the only one in my price range. If I hadn't purchased any products from them before, I might think this was a cheap knock off type...
Pros: will last you a good long time. Cons: hard to think of any
This DVD Audio player is today, the best there is. Its easy to hook up, you will enjoy everything this DVD player has to offer. It looks great, will go with just about any decor. (Gold in color.) You will notice one you hook it up how great it looks with...
Pros: DVD audio at half the price of other systems Cons: None
This player's picture and audio is excellent. If you have an HDTV and set the progressive scan on, the picture is amazing. On a Pioneer 53" HDTV it feels like you are in the picture. There are no horizontal scan lines to be seen as there was with older...
Pros: Progressive Scan, Component Outputs, and DVD-Audio. Cons: Horrible remote and non-vanishing on-screen Zoom indicator
This DVD Player comes with what has to be the most horribly-designed remote control I have ever used. The labels on the remote are not intuitive as to what they mean, and trying to use it to change a setting in mid-movie is a complete mood killer,...
Pros: Great progressive scan,
Great price Cons: Remote keys a bit too small and hard to differentiate by touch.
I had the Pioneer DV-434 for the last six months. I enjoyed the picture quality but somehow I wasn't sure I was getting the best picture quality since all other TRUE progressive scan DVD players to date are above the $800 mark. I know most manufacturers...
OLDER BUT STILL IN THE GAME! by schafercorp ,Mar 21 '05
Pros: Picture Quality and Construction. Remote There was a black version XV-D721BK. Cons: Dated design, and Bulky. Gold Color never caught on.
This was the high point of JVC DVD players, as far as reaching into the High End market. Since I have had mine for several years, and it is still playing fine, it for sure is dependable. Like many new JVC or Panasonic players, there are many Picture adjustments you can make. Nice feature.
Overall this is a great old player, that can be found very cheaply these days.
The downside, is Gold never caught on like silver so if you are one of those people who like everything to match, this will not. And I have to say, the poor thing is on the homely side, and big and bulky, totally oppsite of todays JVC players.
If you want one of the top of the line players, that was always reviewed highly by Pros, then if you see a working one, in good shape, this is worth considering. Even has a Jog Shuttle remote. Make sure you get one with the remote.
Similar player: Pioneer Dv-37
Note: Amount paid was when I bought it new, now in 2005, price should be in area of 50.00. Such is the way electronics go, retail is not high on used models.
It is a good DVD player, but unless you can use the progressive scan, and more DVD audio recordings become available, it won't be worth the higher price. It seems to have compatibility problems with some audio CDs, especially if written to 80 min. CDRs, but also a few commercial CDs.
