Pros: One remote to use Cons: None
You can stop looking! This DVD player will give you all that you need.
Just look at the price ....it's a Sony! Don't waste your money and time on low end names. Don't go crazy on over featured and over priced models either! You need not even buy...

Pros: great sound, great picture, Cons: expensive, unreliable
I bought this DVD player a month ago. I came home, set it up. The instructions were great, it was simple and easy, and it worked perfectly. I went out and bought a few DVDs, after I had rented and few without failure.
Then I was watching the...

Pros: All the basic features, works well with Sony products Cons: Unable to play CD-R/CD-RW media (for obvious reasons)
Congratulations go out to Sony on producing the entry-line but classy DVP-S360. The prices are really starting to fall down on these DVD players, and Sony is offering a $50 rebate currently (Feb-2001) on the purchase as well. The digital output is...

Pros: Excellent quality, almost never skips, small profile Cons: Sometimes the onscreen menu can be a bit confusing
I have friends who bought the comparably priced Toshiba and have problems with disks often skipping. I have only had one disk, which was scratched, skip in a few places.
this product is excellent. I wish I had waited another two weeks to get...

HORRIBLE DVD PLAYER, LAWSUIT SETTLED
by tai69 ,Apr 05 '08
Pros: None, this player freezes, skips & repeats. Cons: SONY settled a class action lawsuit for this player read my review.
This DVD player is really garbage, ignore the good reviews they were written back in 2001 when DVDS were new and they were impressed with the improvement of DVD picture over VHS video tapes.
I bought this DVD player years back for around $300. It has been very problematic. It is an older model so it only plays DVDs and CDs. It is very temperamental and the smallest mark or scratch on a DVD will cause this player to skip, freeze or start at the beginning of the chapter again. There is also the famous C13 error messages which means the DVD player can't play the DVD.
There was a class action lawsuit with SONY over several DVD players including this one. SONY settled it and anyone who bought or was given this model as a gift in the United States is entitled to a settlement. You can receive a $40 voucher or a refurbised Sony DVD player.

Sony DVP S-360 Audio abruptly stopped working
by arifhd ,Jul 31 '05
Pros: It has been a good DVD player for us until it lost it's audio Cons: If the repair is going to be expensive, one need to re-think buying a Sony
We have this DVD player with us since about 4 years. It was working alright and then all of a sudden the Audio stopped working--just can't hear anything. This was about two days back.
Has anyone else faced this problem and could you please give us an idea of what might have gone wrong? Is it worth getting repaired?

SONY proves, once again, completely UNRELIABLE. Stay clear from this product.
by ohm62 ,Jul 03 '06
Pros: Great feature set, as other authors mentioned...
Unfortunate it would hardly last over a year! Cons: Expensive. Waste of money, time (trying to get it fixed) and patience.
This thing started failing shortly after the warranty was over. Typical from Sony. Feature full (and expensive) but CHEAPLY MADE absolutely not durable. Now, it will only work with a few DVDs in my collection. Displays Error C-13 for most. Sometimes suddenly displays pixelized images then jumps back to earlier scenes... What a major piece of crap.

SONY DVPS360 Not very reliable
by jeff98226 ,Jun 27 '04
Pros: Nice clean design. Cons: Not very reliable. Burned out with very few play time hours.
Bought this model because of sony reputation. Very disappointed. Hardly used at all. Motor shorted out and is not worth fixing due to very high repair cost.
Will probably not buy another sony.

Great DVD player that does not last
by kaprod ,Apr 14 '04
Pros: Easy to use, good remote, looks nice. Cons: Doesn't last past its second birthday. Sony should be better quality.
I spent more for this DVD because it was a SONY. The DVD plays great, has great picture quality and the remote was simple to use and did not appear to be sluggish. I just loved it!
Then all of the sudden I would get C 13 00 errors on brand new DVDs. The manual states the C 13 error is a "dirty or scratched disk" which is unlikely on unopened DVD's. It recommended cleaning the disk. I took the player apart to clean the lens carefully to no avail. I noticed the inside had no dust accumulation.
Checking with SONY via e-mail, I was quoted a price of $136 to repair it. Thanks anyway! Even though I like SONY's products, I'll probably look at a JVC or Pioneer for my next one.

A pathetic piece of engineering!!!!
by vraban ,Jan 02 '04
Pros: Good picture, when it works Cons: Spotty performance, unreliable, short lifespan
I have had the DVP-S360 for almost two years. During that time I have had my share of frozen pictures, skipped chapters and the such and attributed it all along to dusty DVDs. All of a sudden I got the "No disk" message and the "C:1300000" error. Now it will play no DVDs at all. I have an old Panasonic that still works like a champ and has never given me the problems of this "sophisticated" player.
Sony customer support was absolutely worthless and downright rude. Bye, bye Sony...as far as I am concerned I will not purchase any more Sony products and will not recommend them to anybody.

Not a Good Value from Sony
by camus30 ,Dec 02 '03
Pros: Multiple video/audio outputs. Nice remote. Cons: Breaks quite easily, very expensive for price to use ratio.
I usually like Sony products because of all of their bells and whistles. Since I like to keep all of my A/V equipment the same brand, I purchased this Sony without thinking twice. It was bought in the summer of 2000 for $225. I was disappointed that it lacked some features that other DVD players have, such as a zoom function. Also, it will not play CD-Rs, which became a problem. The unit has only been used for 38 hours, and it recently began showing problems. Most discs I tried encountered the infamous C:13:00 problem. Now the unit will not turn on, it just flashes on for 2 seconds and turns off. I have replaced it with a KLH (Apex) unit for $20 that has a lot more functionality, such as MP3 playback and picture CD viewing (I was hoping this unit would be a second player in my house). I will be more careful buying a Sony in the future.

This DVD player is excellent...
by brooklyn_leslie_dt3000 ,Mar 29 '02
This DVD player is excellent for the price. The remote control is very easy to use and (with many DVD players) you can freeze frame, forward and rewind frame by frame, and play specific chapters out of the movie. The on screen programming is also extremely easy to use.
The hook up to my television was quick, and it was simple to connect with my stereo for surround sound and playing CDs.
