Pros: Excellent product Cons: Customer service not great
These are excellent earphones, the best I've ever heard. I have no complaints about the product per se.However, about three years after buing mine, the sound in the left earphone became intermittent, which turned out to be because one of ...
Pros: Great sound, clarity. Comfortable (when you get used to them). Easy to pack/carry. Cons: Need to clean after every use. Expensive filters.
I've had these for almost three years now, and am constantly going back to them. So far, I've yet to find a pair of headphones or other earbuds that produce the clarity of sound these do. The bass is light, but easily detectable. I've ...
I bought the etymotic ER4P's to use as stage monitors for live music performance and to use as a reference system when I program sounds. Since we mix from stage (no sound man) I needed ear monitors that sounded a lot like the the very accurate, very flat ...
Pros: Crisp clean sound. Can't believe what comes out of these little guys! Cons: See the bottom of my review. Just a couple, but not enough room here.
I purchased a set of these headphones to use with my iPod. Just amazing... Every time I plug these in my ears, I'm blown away. I read a few reviews complaining about the lack of bass. Here is the answer to those complaints in a nutshell... "With these ...
These Head/Earphones are simply the best for the price....If you want to hear amazing music and tune out the outside world then buy them...yes they cost 200 to 230.00 but who cares.... when you go through all the trouble of buying an expensive mp3 ...
Pros: Superb sonics, small package, complete kit, lightweight, better fit among Etymotic products Cons: Price, getting used to its in ear location, cleaning, learning curve to insert properly
I recently bought an ER6i as my introduction to the Etymotic's line. I was utterly amazed by the improved listening experience it gave. h

Pros: Clarity, stereo image and definition, isolation Cons: The cord and the cost
I enjoy listening to music through a good pair of headphones. I wanted a pair that would be of high quality, portable, and inconspicuous to wear. Ive tried the earbuds that come with walkman stereos, but they dont fit well and fall out of my ...
Pros: Sound quality, comfort, noise cancelling. Cons: Price...but you soon realise they are worth it! Microphonic cable.
This is a product that you have to try for yourself, rather than listen to other people's opinions. Some people will find them uncomfortable or won't have the courage to insert them deeply enough into the ear to get a really good sound. I tried them and ...
Pros: portable, clean sound, not active noise cancellation, price Cons: cord (but it's really not a big deal)
I am a true audiophile. There is nothing that I love more than powerful, crystal clear sound. Aside from these headphones, I own a Klipsch 4.2 surround sound system for the computer($350) and I have 2 Infiniti Kappa Perfect 12.1 ($350 each)subs in my ...
Pros: Extremely accurate and musical
Very portable
Comfortable
Not expensive looking Cons: Expensive, but a bargain compared to any other headphone of similar sound quality
Over the years I've owned around 70 different pairs of headphones, from cheap to rather high-end, and I used to think I just had a compulsion with buying phones that would go on forever. Each set had it's own unique sound and I used different sets ...
Pros: Beautiful, acurate, detailed, crisp, live sound. Great sonic isolation. Comfortable plugs. Cons: terrible cord "rub", expensive, gotta get used to the in-ear style
Etymotic ER4S - $330 retail $220 street .. These sounded unbelievable, very comfortable, not too hard to get in the ear, amazingly accurate, very detailed/full/warm/complete sound, decent bass ...no thumping but present, surprising imaging, lots ...
Pros: Incredible noise reduction capabilities, portability, durability Cons: In-ear-canal design isn't everyone's cup of tea, require minor maintenance
I researched long and hard before purchasing these, and haven't regretted the comparatively high cost ($269) for a second. Why? Well, to put it simply, these are THE best noise reduction headphones on the market, period. Their simple, battery free pas ...
Pros: great sound, portability, isolation Cons: high price, cord noise, high maintenance(?)
my favorite headphone is the koss portapro, but i needed a headphone that is more portable, more efficient with my minidisc player (not requiring that the volume always be at the max), that would block out outside noise, and that wouldn't bleed a lot...
Pros: Great isolation, wonderful, clear sound. Cons: Great isolation, learning curve on proper insertion.
I found the ER-4Ps to be exactly what I was searching for in a set of headphones. They reduce external noise, from my experience, down to the level that regular earplugs do. This is a plus, because it allows the listener to hear the details and...
Pros: Sound, Size, Isolation Cons: Microphonic Cord, High Price
The Purchase
I had been looking for some new headphones to replace my Sony MDR-D22s. The Sonys sounded fine, but they were too big for me to carry around with my mp3 CD player. The Sonys were also semi-open, meaning that some sound...
Pros: Excellent sound quality (except cable noise distracts from this) Cons: High price, comfort and best performance requires custom earpieces (even more $)
I am a frequent flyer (1,000,000+ miles), and I enjoy the advantages of noise-canceling headphones for music, movies, and just sleeping (connecting them to nothing at all). I bought the Etymotic ER-4Ps hoping that they would be worth the high price...
Pros: The sound... for home, travel and especially airplane use. Cons: Either you can take having something in your ear or you can't.
First, I would never have found this product if not for Epinions! I was looking to upgrade my early version of the Sony noise-cancelling headphones (model 5)and wanted to get an opinion on the Bose unit. That led me to a review of these.
Pros: Unbeatable for travel, clean sound, very sensitive Cons: microphonic cable, low bass is absent
Undoubtedly these (or perhaps the ER-4S) are the best headphones for folks who travel frequently. It's half earplug, half headphone. The sound damping is good enough that I sometimes just use them as earplugs on the plane. I really wouldn't want to ...
Pros: Sound like you oughta hear it Cons: Pricey, needs more than passive maintenance
Etymotic ER-4P Earphones
I'm writing this review at 24000 feet, plugged into my laptop and listening to B.B. King and Diane Schuur's "Heart to Heart" CD--hearing only the music and, faintly, the white noise of the airplane's flight. I cannot...
Pros: Sound quality, portability, isolation Cons: Price, but you get what you pay for here.
I purchased my Etymotic ER4P's a week ago. Since then, I have been going through my CD and MD collection non-stop, rediscovering many new tones and intricacies of the music that I had been missing. The quality of the sound coming from these little...
Pros: Great with binaural recordings Cons: very limited use, bright with stereo recordings
The Etymotic ER4B is the most specialized of Etymotics 3 ear phones. Designed to work with binaural recordings, their equalization circuit compensates for the rolled off high frequencies lost due to the binaural process. These recordings use a dummy head...
Pros: great sound in a tiny package perfect for travel Cons: in canal design is uncomfortable for some
These "in-canal earphones" arrived in a nicely packaged plastic storage box. Anybody who buys these will immediately see that Etymotic intended on delivering a quality product.... and that they did!
Pros: Fancy looking, accurate. Cons: Pricey, not a good buy.
These 'phones sure are "accurate" but in order for them to work as advertised, they must fit well into your ear canals. When I first used them, I found them with no bass and strident treble. They got better after I took more care of fitting...
Pros: Sound, size, comfort, and isolation Cons: Microphonic cord
While in search for the perfect earbuds, I stumbled upon these. At first set back by the price, I looked around for some less expensive earphones, but I came back to the er-4p's. I decided to order them, finally. Coming in a white cardboard box...
Pros: Can be used with portable players Cons: Not quite as accurate as the ER4S
The Etymotic ER4P is the newest addition to the fine line of earphones from Etymotic. They are designed to be more efficient than the ER4S so that portable players can drive them to decent listening levels. Portable players have notoriously weak outputs...
Worth every penny and then some by whuffo ,Oct 14 '05
Pros: Great sound - probably the best reproduction you'll ever hear. Cons: Expensive
I never thought I'd spend so much money for a little pair of earphones. I waffled over the decision for weeks before buying these - and have been glad I did every day since then. These little things sound amazing - full, well balanced sound. It's hard to adequately describe how nice they sound...
I find them very comfortable even when I wear them for hours at a time. Some folks complain that you can hear things brushing against the cord; this is true, but it's a minor issue. Use the clip and pocket the excess cord and it won't be a problem for you. A flimsier cord would reduce this small problem but it'd also lead to cord problems; the cable that these come with is sturdy long-lasting stuff.
Only "problem" is also a benefit - these are essentially ear plugs and you won't hear the world around you while you're enjoying your music. These earphones aren't a good choice for situations where not hearing an onrushing bus would be dangerous...
Near perfect earphones by andrewkenney ,May 03 '05
Pros: Close to perfect sound.
Fabulous noise reduction. Cons: Expensive. Some people might find they take a bit of getting used to.
I fly a lot and wanted good noise insulation but without having to compromise on sound quality. These ER4P's are close to perfect. So much so that I often use them at home rather than my expensive hi-fi. I listen mostly to classical music, particularly singing. It is like having a new CD collection. So much more is revealed. They are expensive but perfection always costs a little extra.
I was worried about how comfortable they would be but using the foam rather than the plastic ear pieces, I find them quite acceptable.
Pros: Great for classical music Cons: Very uncomfortable - Noisy cord - Very poor bass
I paid a high price for these headphones and they turned out to be very uncomfortable and low on the bass end. The highs are excellent so if you only listen to classical, you could be quite happy with the sound, but if you call for bass you should forget these headphones. Also don't plan on moving while you wear them and any movement of the cord sends the noise straight to your ears.
Pros: Sound quality second to none. Cons: Small amount of cord noise.
I worked for Sony for five years and have yet to hear a headphone like this! They are worth every dime. I have used them on several sources and have found a new best friend for my MD player and my I Pod. I find nothing wrong with the cord. Some people complain of noise from the cord.A small price to pay for the sound quality these headphones provide. They also have incredible noise canceling ability, the best I've heard. I own several pairs of high end headphones and these are by far the most accurate in my collection.
WOW! Superb earphones, worth the price... by trairden ,Mar 16 '04
Pros: Sound quality
Lightness
Compactness
2-year warranty (with registration... 1-year without...)
Great support from the company Cons: Airline 2-prong adapter ($4-$12 aftermarket) not included.
I've got two sets of Sony noise-canceling headphones (one set in-ear and one over) and some pretty decent "living room" earphones, and these put them all to shame. The detail and fidelity are by far the best I've heard. Total in-use package including pouch is less than an ounce, which makes them really ideal for travel.
I paid $233 for mine, and have subsequently found them on eBay for $200 (Buy it now) shipped ground.
