Pros: Very cool look, feel great, not too heavy, excellent bass response and no annoying treble. Cons: expensive
I've had these for a while now and they are great! Good bass response and they get loud. They have awesome style, the way it folds up is cool and it twists perfectly for DJs.
They have good base, no tin sounding treble and great response. Despite...

Pros: Great Sound Quality. Keeps out most sounds. Comfy for the first couple of hours. Cons: PRICE.
I got my headphones cheap at Best Buy with my discount. Otherwise they're 129.99. I recommend these headphones to anyone wanting to DJ or already DJing. I would not recommend it for just regular music use. Only because after awhile of use they don't feel...

Pros: Cool styling, rotating ear cups Cons: Extremely poor quality, uncomfortable
I just had these headphones for about a year and they broke. For $120, it seems like they should last a little bit longer than 1 year, especially considering that I have other headphones I've owned for 5 years !
The fault in the design is the...

Pros: sound is good, look is sharp Cons: HOT earpieces after 1 hour
Sony is unusually good at designing products for end-users, except in this case. I was surprised at how nice this headphone folds up, and how it comes with a stylish carrying bag, and gold-tip plug (with supplied 1/4" converter).
HOWEVER:...

Pros: LOUD BASS, clear concise sound. I like em with techno music and thats it. Cons: Highs are there, mids are there, they just dont bounce the way the bass does.
These headphones will surpass any others in this price range for quality of bass. After listening to many songs filled with ear ringing bass explosions I have decided that I have never heard such impressive bass sound from any source. For example, a...

Excellant sonic range and comfortable.
by m3gtr ,May 01 '09
Pros: Sonic Range is excellant. Comfort is awesome. Cons: Construction may not hold up to constand abuse of studio use.
There are two things that I look for in headphones. Primarily, can I wear them all day and not feel pain or discomfort. Secondarily, do the speakers sonically represent the deepest bass and highest trebles accurately and clearly? Hooked up to these - I have found that they do both very well. I'm a bit disappointed in some of the plastic and not aluminum construction however.
I have several "Pro" level headphones - these are very good quality and comfortable to listen to.

MDR-V700DJ
by footsbro ,Dec 29 '06
Pros: Very good value for professional headphones Cons: None other than there needs to be a protective cover/s for the jack/s.
I bought the Sony headphones from the Sony Centre in Belfast (Northern Ireland). The product is very reasonable in price for the professionalism that it holds. The very handy two plugs in one is a very good idea as i have a mini hi-fi system with only the standard 3.5 mm jack. With this handy feature people who are DJ's can use the same headphones for DJ'ing at clubs and then relaxing by listening to music on their mini hi-fi using the 3.5mm jack
Also the product comes in a nicely presented box with protective film, the headphones also come with a high quality carrying case (white/cream).
But I found it cheaper online, the Sony centre sold it for £94.99 and found it for as little as £49.99 and I'm sure you can find it somewhere else for less than that.

DO NOT BUY THESE HEADPHONES!
by demandmore ,Feb 03 '05
Pros: Shiny Cons: Will ABSOLUTELY fall apart. Sony will not take responsibility for poor quality and design flaws.
While the Sony MDR-V700DJ headphones have an appealing look (c'mon, that's why you want them...I was duped as well!) there is an inherent flaw in the quality of the construction. The casings around the 'swivel cup' WILL eventually crack rendering the headphones useless (do a quick online search and you will see how many consumers have complained about this exact problem). I have used mine for home listening purposes which should be well within what Sony would consider normal 'wear and tear'. Despite the fact that the cheap design is a common complaint, Sony will charge you $78.65 to exchange your useless headphones with a 'refurbished' pair...this on top of the original $150!
I sincerely hope this review will save other consumers from throwing their money down the drain. Do yourself a favor and invest your money in a product that will last!

Good sound, TERRIBLE build quality
by rhinosaurus ,Jun 13 '05
Pros: Good sound, loud. Cons: Built like a toy from mcdonalds. Fall apart for no reason.
Got these at a best buy in Florida, then took them back to Canada. At first I was really happy with them, they are hella loud and sound real good. Then, I had them hanging out an amp with a regular SONY stereo-mini to 1/4 inch adapter on them, and the weight of the cord snapped the plug off. WTF? So I took them to the Sony store and they REFUSED to fix them, even if I paid them, since I bought them in another country. I said "I got them in America, not from a counterfeiter in China", but they wouldn't touch them. So, I bought a plug somewhere else and soldered it on myself, which was a pain because the wires are really small and coated with something. All was good until a few weeks ago (about 2.5 years after I got them) when the casing around the swivelling ear pieces broke. Now I'm trying to fix them with epoxy putty and it's just annoying. It's a solid plastic bit and should be made to NEVER EVER break. It's just stupid construction, plain and simple. Don't but these headphones, go for sturdier non-SONY phones.

Excellent, Sturdy, Lightweight, Great Sounding
by indago ,Feb 26 '04
Pros: Excellent fitting, Excellent sound, Excellent all around Cons: Haven't found any yet...
I read some of the reviews here before purchasing a set of these headphones. I am not a professional sound engineer, but enjoy music at home.
I was concerned about some of the reviews that spoke about the overemphasized bass with these headphones. I use the headphones with a system that has equalization for sound. I can trim the bass, trim the highs, or just let it roll. The headphones will blow you away with bass if you want it that way, and you can trim it down if your system can equalize.
They are very comfortable to wear, and I can wear them all day if I desire to listen to the music all day long while I do work on my computer. The earcups are very comfortable and outside sound is practically eliminated. I can adjust the pressure against my ears so that it is in the most comfortable position.
The coiled cord on the headset is just right for the installation that I have, with the tuner within reach.
It's just an all around excellent system.

Solid electronic equipment
by hardnozehockey ,Sep 29 '03
Pros: Bass, general sound performance, accessories Cons: Bass is a little overwhelming, but not that bad.
I read many of the reviews before and I just had to support / negate the other reviews. First of all, the money you spend on these headphones mostly goes to the Sony name. I've noticed that they tend to price their products anywhere between 10 to 20% more than their competitors. However, this pricetag does come with it's benefits. Aside from the superficial aspects of the unit, the headphones do a very good job at sealing the ears and blocking background noise. The bass is a bit high and tends to muffle the mids and lows, but unless you are listening to classical music, it won't make much difference. Most people don't have perfect hearing; in fact, if you are one of the millions that have attending a few night clubs or a outdoor music event, you most likely have lost a good percentage of your hearing already. As far as the rest of the package concerns, the length of the cord is nice, the bag is handy, and the additional sized jack is always a nice addition. Either way, this is definetly a good product even with the slight expensive nature of Sony.

Loved 'em but they fell apart
by cemp2000 ,May 01 '05
Pros: Sound quality; zero distortion; looks. Cons: They fell apart.
I wish I'd done more thorough research before buying these headphones! It seems the problem that I suffered with is seriously common. Have just thrown mine away. Casing cracked around the swivelling ear cover. What a pain; they were 6 months old. In those 6 months I'd grown to love them. The sound quality is awesome. Just the right level of max volume... with zero distortion. I travel across the Atlantic a lot for work and they were a godsend on these long flights with iPod/iTunes.
Having now done more thorough research I am going to order some Sennheiser HD 280 Pro's and hope they can match the Sony's sound but be a bit more durable!

Sound great, built cheap
by linty ,Jun 08 '04
Pros: Sound great, wonderful sound reproduction, look slick Cons: Temporary headphones...the swivel ear joint breaks after a few years
Well the short and quick version....
I got these headphones to replace my MDR-7506 studio monitors....for doing turntable mixing and wanted a more dj oriented headphone.
So they serve me wonderfully for about 2 1/2 years. Eventually the plastic swivel joint on the ear cracks and the speaker falls off. As I sit here and write this, my 700's are donned by high performance rubber bands and jb weld.
Like I said, the sound of the headphones is absolutely stellar. I don't think I've heard a better set before. And that's whats so disappointing.....such a great device in such a cheap shell.....
I will be replacing them with a pair of MDR-7509's, the studio monitor model. Same exact headphone internals, better, more comfortable, and MOST IMPORTANTLY NO SWIVEL EAR THINGEY.
