As President of a non-for-profit association, we take A LOT of pictures! Seminars, parties, meetings, new staff, you name it, and I need them FAST and good! The Sony digital cameras that save to floppy disks give me the quality and speed I need and...

Pros: Easy to Use. Cons: I'll let you know when I find one!
This camera has to be the best purchase I have made in my life. It is so easy to use and makes emailing pictures a snap. When I first decided I wanted a digital camera I knew I wanted one that the floppy disk fits right into. I didn't want to deal...

Pros: Ease of use, regular diskettes, quality Cons: none I can think of
I bought the Sony Mavica73 in February 2000, after "lusting" after it for a year. In January 1999, my first grandchild was born, and I was away from my husband and younger daughter, as I attended to the new Mom, Dad and baby. A friend had the...
Pros: Super (the best) macro on the market. Cons: Limited picture capacity on floppy.
I bought my Sony FD73 in Alaska while on vacation, it is a wonderful digital that takes clear high resolution 640x480 pictures, has a 2 speed floppy drive and can format disks as well. The best feature of this camera is the auto macro, if you want...
Pros: Stores in jpg to 3 1/2 inch floppy disks Cons: A little large, but light weight even so
Sony gets it right with their Mavica cameras. The other's should take a lesson.
Built in flash, automatic focus, hands free timer, light weight, and friendly feel -- these are the characteristics you'll find in the Mavica camera. Sony's...
Pros: easy to operate Cons: less pixels than other models, so less picture quality when printed out
I purchased this model because I wanted something very easy to use and at the same time gave a quality picture. All my research on which one to buy led me to go for the 10 x optical lens over a higher digital lens for picture quality.
Pros: Floppy disk storage Cons: Does not come with a camera case.
I bought the Sony MVC-FD73 for job related activities. I am an electrician for an electrical contractor. Part of my job is to bid on new work and to coordinate work progress. This camera fills the need nicely. The feature that is most useful to me is...
Pros: Price and accessories Cons: Features do not include a movie mode.
I owned a Sony MCV-FD91 and found that the 91 is more camera than I needed. I compared the prices and the features and decided to sell the MCV-91 to my boss and to purchase the FD-73 for myself. This is a great little camera. It lets you take a clear,...

Pros: fairly economical for the features, easy to use, good results Cons: pic resolution not up to par as compared to 35mm. image
I had been looking for a fun and easy digital camera for sometime when I asked for this one for Christmas. I am quite happy with it. It is very easy to use, basically a *point and shoot*. Pics are clear enough for publishing on the Web. They do lack the...
Pros: Ease of use & price was right! Cons: No cons that I've encountered!
We bought this camera to do online auctions but find it extremely easy for other things as well. My wife & I love to fish & hunt. Now we can capture our finest moments as they happen! This camera was recommended by a friend...Thank goodness...
Pros: Easy to download images on any computer. Cons: Resolution, price.
Got this as a gift - was recommended by computer-whiz friend. Rather pricey at the time of purchase. Now, there are so many better versions out there for the same price or less with much better options.
I bought this camera for convenience. And I got what I bargained for. With the zoom all the way out I get pictures good enough for my web page or for my online photo gallery. With the zoom on you would need a tripod to hold the camera steady enough to...
If your just getting into the digital imaging thing and you'd like an easily accessable camera with little or no difficulties, this would probably be one of this best cameras out there. This camera has a 640x480 resolution, which yes is less than one...
Pros: 3.5 FD Storage, 10X Zoom, 2 hour Battery life Cons: Size, Must use LCD for display
Looking at purchasing a digital camera I decided that I needed more information. Several of the camera's pm the market use memory packs that must be purchased in addition to the camera. One other disadvantage is the short life of the battery offered...
Pros: 10X Zoom, Floppy Drive, Reasonable price Cons: Larger form factor, no through the lens view finder
Digital photography has arrived. You probably don't need to hear this or you would not be researching the purchase of a digital camera. The higher initial cost of the camera itself is more than outweighed by the savings in film and development costs. ...
Pros: Great Pictures, Great time saver Cons: expensive
I purchased this product for two reasons, The first of which was being able to sell stuff on eBay and the second was being able to send pictures to my family out of state. I was really frustrated every time I tried to list an auction on eBay, I would...
Pros: fast, easy, and fun Cons: I haven't tried printing the photos yet, so I'm not sure of the quality there.

Pros: Ease of use, floppy storage Cons: picture quality
The main selling points of this camera are the floppy storage and ease of use. It is incredibly easy to use. My wife who never wants to have to bother with manuals and messy hookups loves it and was a master in a matter of minutes. Being able to just pop...
Pros: Allows floppy disk usage Cons: Uses a floppy disk as media. Poor resolution. High price
In the beggining it seemed this might be a great camera. It had resolution and allowed you to store your pictures on a floppy disk. But then you look at the true details and find that this camera isn't all that.
Pros: Floppy storage, good lens Cons: Might feel "bulky" at first
The floppy disks make this an easy to use digital camera. The only downside I have found (and it is NOT a big one) is that the bulk of the camera makes it a bit awkward at first for those of us who are used to using small, point and shoot cameras....
My husband and I bought this camera because we had a new baby boy. My husbands parents live 200 miles from us and we wanted to be able to take pictures of our son and email them. This camera was recommended to us by a friend. We like the fact that we...
Pros: great for close-up shots Cons: bad for anything not close-up
If you are fairly specific about why you want a digital camera, and your reasons match mine, then this is a great camera. If you want a camera that is versatile and dependable then spend more money on something else. Here's why i think that:
Pros: floppy disk image storage system; cost Cons: no zoom; power usage issues
Sony Mavica is a good digital camera with an easy to use interface. The biggest advantage of this camera is the method of storage for the digital images. All digital data is stored on floppy disks making the transfer of digital image data to the...
Pros: Easy, quick & fast turn around! Cons: It could be a better priced!
This is my second Sony Mavica digital camera. It has many improvements over the last generation, lighter, slimmer, quicker retake, easy disc slide-in, and effects options that make it fun and creative to use!

Pros: ease-of-use, stores images on floppies Cons: larger than some, use a square view-finder versus an eye-piece
I'll be the first to admit that I was leery of getting a digital camera. I love my 35mm camera and the feel and look of real photographs! On the other hand, I found myself more and more using my own scanner to scan photos and then e-mailing images; I'm...
When digital cameras were first coming out, I was eager to purchase one. Upon doing so, I looked for features such as slim, inexpensive, use of floppy disks, quality photos. This only met one and a half of those requirements, use of floppy disks, and...
This is a great camera barring the price about $450.00 - $499.00. The LCD screen located on the back on the camera is like a miniture television that allows you to see the picture in a viewer instead of a small hole with one eye closed. The thing that...
Pros: Wonderful close-ups Cons: Could do a little better on distance
I'm definitely an amateur in cameras. I bought this camera to use on the Internet auctions. I feel it takes very good close-up pictures and does a better job than my scanner. I save money on development and time on scanning. It was very easy to use...
I have had experience with both the fd-83 and the fd-73. The fd-73 is the earlier of the two versions. The one thing that is great about the fd-73 is the zoom feature. It has 10 X optical ( not digital )zoom, which can come in very helpful. The fd-83...
Pros: Easy to use, durable, reliable. Cons: Not 35 mm quality, price.
Let's start with digital versus 35mm film cameras: Digital cameras will
not give the clarity and depth of color of a photographic image. Film
paper is something like 2500 dots per inch of color where 600 dots per
inch is the best you'll...

Pros: Ease of use, floppy disk storage medium Cons: Price
I noticed I needed a camera when my old 35mm simply stopped, no reason why, it just stopped. My wife told me she would buy any camera I wanted, so I went shopping.

Pros: Ease of operation, no downloading required. Cons: shoulder strap was hard to install until I read the instructions
This is my first digital camera and I will never go back to film. My Sony is easy to operate and I don't have to mess around with USB cables or software if I choose not to . Simply put in a 3.5 inch floppy, take 25 to 40 pictures, change disks and take...
Pros: Pictures taken stored on floppy disk Cons: None that I have encountered

Pros: No Interface, Great Zoom Power, Easy to Use Cons: Rechargable Battery Life (suggest buying another battery, for backup)
Hi-
The Sony FD73 may seem pricey, but it makes up for the hefty price in Convenience. Just the fact that it utilizes a floppy disk instead of clubmsy USB or Floppy Chips is a great plus with this model. It's a simple as taking the picture, pulling...
Pros: This camera is great for new computer and digital camera users. Cons: Rather expensive for the picture resolution.
The Sony Mavica FD73 is a great starter camera but rather expensive for the camera's picture resolution. The floppy disk drive is great because you do not cables to download your photos. The battery life is impressive and holds up well compared to other...
Is that how the saying goes? I must extend an apology to the Sony Corporation.I had my camera inspected by a professional and he has come to the conclusion that the Mavica had nothing to do with the disk breaking in my camera.
Pros: Easy, zoom lens, no computer hookup, Cons: Quality of picture

10X zoom optical lens versus the 3X optical
zoom on the FD88.
It is easy and quick to use. The best...

I have had my Sony Digital Mavica FD-73 camera for almost two years now and I love it. It is very easy to use and takes a 3.5" floppy disk to store the pictures on. The only bad thing about that is that one disk can only hold around 25-30 pictures vs....

Pros: use of floppy disk over memory cards Cons: it could have had a little better resolution
This is a great all around camera. I use mine mainly for online auctions, but I also use it for personal pictures. Its ease of use is fantastic. While it does not have the greatest resolution, I have seen worse though. I like the use of 3-1/2 inch floppy...

Pros: Ease of use, special features Cons: fair price but i hope they go down some
First I must admit that this is the only digital camera that we have used, but that also speaks well of the camera in that it has been very easy for us to learn to use. Even my computer illiterate husband has been taking pictures and printing them out...
Sony usually provides a superior product at a reasonable (not inexpensive price). But they dropped the ball on this one. If you are a photo buff, look elsewhere for you won't find the quality in your images, there are better cameras at cheaper prices....
Pros: Uses a disk, no printer cable needed Cons: None

This camera offers convenience at the cost of bulkiness by dvergallito ,Dec 13 '03
Pros: Floppy drive, durability, many photo options Cons: Slight delay in "snapping" photos, some photos grainy or dark
This camera performs like a champ. It is durable and resilient. It is larger than most, however, for business purposes and for photo sharing, it works wonders. The built in floppy allows for ease of use with regards to the above. I have used this on sandy beachs, in dusty fields, and the like, and have found the floppy drive to maintain its integrity. The photo quality is marginal indoors, a little better outdoors. If you don't require high resolution photos, but simply want to capture memories, a good choice.
Best brand of digital camera by lildebisnack ,Mar 22 '04
Pros: easy to use, dependable. Cons: I cant really think of anything bad about this product. I loved it.
I have owned this camera for 4 years last month (2/2004) I have not had one single problem. It has never needed any repairs. I am so impressed with this camera that I would probably only ever buy a Sony digital camera. I love the fact that I can take really fast action shots. Now I cant Take them fast one right after another. But I can take good ones while they are in action poses. A floppy disk can hold anywhere from 25 to 44 pictures , depending on what settings you have on it. This camera is also very user friendly, very self explanatory. And I think with as much use that I have gotten out of this camera, is was worth the money I paid for it.
A good camera for all... by willy_dt3005 ,Mar 17 '02
A good camera for all around use where high resolution is not needed. Takes great outdoor shots and good indoor photo's. Easy to use and especially handy in creating photo's for online use. Overall and excellent camera. Uses economical 3.5 floppy's for pic storage with a 2.5 hr battery life. I use the camera to create photo's for the internet. The photo's load quickly from the 3.5 floppy and can be easily processed for printing or online use. Recommended for the novice photographer, due to its ease of use. Even a novice can turn out quality pictures. The only drawback that i have found concerns the viewing screen. In strong sunlight the screen can hardly be seen, in order to take a picture.
This camera is easy to... by andrew_dt3003 ,Oct 04 '02
This camera is easy to use and the built for the novice. The lack of internal disk space and a USB drive is a serious drawback. It is annoying to have to carry an extra disk around to be able to take more than 28 pictures. This camera is also not capable of shooting video, which is becoming a standard feature on digital cameras. The biggest advantage of this camera, the built in disk drive, can also be found on the docking ports of much cheaper cameras.
