Solid, Sharp, Simple

by ajhend , Sep 28 '00
Pros: Price, Reliability, Quality
Cons: Not sold everywhere.
It is elegant simplicity. I have owned my Yashica FX-3 Super 2000 for about five years. When my old Topcon finally broke in 1988, I bought a used FX-7 (older but very similar) for cheap and was impressed. I wanted a second camera body when I bought...

Pssst....You Wanna Know A Secret?...

by neofusion , May 13 '02
Pros: Metal chassis and mount. Ability to accept Carl Zeiss lenses. Fully manual.
Cons: Plastic top and bottom plates. No DOF preview. Fully manual.
...The Yashica FX-3 Super 2000 is perhaps the best camera for the money out there! A true sleeper, it has a metal chassis covered by a plastic outer veneer. The fact that it's an all manual camera shouldn't scare you. This is one of the best ways to...

This is the second Yashica FX-3 super 2000 I have owned. The first one fell in a frozen lake in the Catskill mountains in upstate New York. This camera is so affordable, that it enables Pro's and amateurs a like to really get the job done right at a minimal...

Dropped - reassembled with glue -works 15 yrs later

by sobolik , Oct 28 '04
Pros: Simple camera if you are not into computer age gizzmo surprises at every turn.
Cons: Not a lot on the market but once armed you are ready to go.
I am very bored photographically lately. But I cannot venture into the realm of the computerized cameras and abandon my old faithful manuals. They have survived so long while many electronic gizzmos have entered the land fills. I cannot stress that as a ...

a classic reborn

by zaheerneph , Mar 04 '03
Pros: affordable classic, a brother of contax, learner's delight
Cons: none
Well guys, if u wanna be a real man with a 35 mm, this is the horse to ride on. 35 mm SLR is an entity INVENTED by CONTAX (1940s). LENSE is an entity meaning only CARL ZIESS (Germany). Yashica FX-3/super/2000 is a boy even NIKON would respect for NIKON...

One of the great bargains of our time

by vdipiet , Apr 05 '03
Pros: Compact, Lightweight, sturdy, takes great Ziess lenses as well as Yashica and third party lenses.
Cons: They don't make this camera any more.
This is a sweetheart of a camera. I purchased my first one in 1990 and gave it to a lady friend a couple of years ago because she didn't have a camera. I use Contax cameras which are great. With the Yashica FX 3 Super 2000 you don't need batteries to...

Yashica FX-Super 2000
by yadevolkram ,Jun 25 '06
Pros: It is reliable for day to day use.
Cons: The mirror slap may be intrusive.
I bought mine in Tenerife in about 1992. I had no previous experience with the brand, having used an old Pentax MX up until then. OK, it's a rather plasticy build, but it's light and has never let me down. The standard lens is a 50mm 1.9 and more than adequate. I have always found the metering to be fine.

The camera is a good piece of equipment and I now have a second-hand FR1 as well, which is obviously more substantial.

Would I recommend this camera? Well that depends on what it will be used for. For general photographic use it is fine, but the mirror noise can be intrusive and does tend to attract attention.
