I have been looking for a new camera for over a year and have finally found the best deal around..PERIOD!! I have only had the camera for two weeks but can tell you it was a tough decision between this camera and the Nikon N-80...If you hold both in your...

Pros: Eye controlled focus and depth of field preview, lightweight Cons: Cost (though a good deal for the money)
I love this camera, and plan to buy another one, which is why I found this site in the first place. (I just ruined my Elan, when my camera bag zipper was not closed properly (it's finicky) and the camera came crashing down onto the concrete.) Anyway,...

Pros: can do everything a more expensive camera can, canon quality Cons: nothing substantial
I have had my Elan IIE for... six years now. The only "problem" I've ever had with it is that there is some dust/debris inside the viewfinder. I'm not sure how it got there, but I've been told the camera has to be taken apart more than I'd like for it to ...

Pros: Reliable, doesn't have plastic feel & look, eye focus and depth of field preview Cons: price
I bought this camera as I was thoroughly impressed with the eye focus model. This really helps in sport/action photography. Also it really helps in candid situations where the subject especially pets and kids, who move around a lot. I also like the fact...

Pros: Durable and easy great pics Cons: frames per sec
I have used this camera professionally for 3 years now. Its been dropped banged and kicked and it still shoots like its $1500 dollar cousins.
This camera will let the newbie take proffessional pictures and make the pro users life even easier....

Pros: Ease of use, features, price Cons: none
I have had this camera for about 1 year and have never regretted the
purchase. It couples ease of use with pro like features. My first roll
of film was taken with the camera in full auto mode and with about half
the pictures taken with...

Pros: Pictures turn out great. Cons: May be a little confusing to learn at first.
If it the perfect summer vacation and you don't want to miss out on getting pictures then you will like the camera. I was a yearbook photographer and we used this camera. I learned how to use it and the way that i took pictures changed. You can learn how...

Pros: Fast and Lite Cons: None
What a camera! I have have enjoyed this camera as much as any I have ever owned. It is fast, lite, and very simple to use.
Even the built-in flash works wonders. I have used the camera in some very extreme circumstances where it came through for me...

Pros: Flexibility, ease of use, large selection of lenses/flashes. Cons: None
After a month of research, soul searching and shopping I found the Canon II. Canon has a IIE which will focus on the photographers eye. This is a nice feature but not really necessary unless you are into sports or other fast focus photography. The...

Pros: Easy to use from beginner to advanced - Automatic Flash Cons: A little pricey if you don't want all the features-bigger than the lesser priced models
The Canon Elan IIe combines form and function. The ease of a point and shoot with all to bells and whistles to a fully manual camera for the professional.
I first tried the Rebel 2000, it was a great camera with great results, my wife loved...

Love it. Purchased a new backup. Thanks digital users!
by justsayit ,Oct 19 '07
Pros: Eye control, camera shape & ease of use. Cons: Its not digital with eye control which doesn't exist yet if ever because of LCD
I paid full price for mine when I purchased mine new.
The eye control is awesome & impressive.
I enjoy the camera enough that I purchased a "new" Elan2e from an auction for $54.00
The seller claimed had taken 1 roll of film then jumped right into digital world.

i purchased mine when it first came out, and i was getting a few very minor photo jobs. overall, it's a great camera. i use it as my primary camera. i am starting to shoot baseball of high school, college, and minor league games. the one thing i wish it had is the capabilities to shoot a higher fps, like the eos 1 & 3 (which one will soon be my next purchase). other than that - it's a camera that i will keep, and soon it will be my "second."

I would recommend this camera...

I would recommend this camera to anyone interested in taking good pictures, either professionally or for leisure. It has the rare combination of ease of use in high end peice of equiptment. This camera is like no other I have owned, and will likely remain that way. I have always liked Canon products and have always placed my faith and my photos in Canon's excellence.Again, my photo experiences are for the most part outdoors, and this lightweight and easy to use camera is just what the doctor ordered. It is quite for close-ups of wildlife, yet it's compactness does not compromise it's excellence.
