solid and sensible

by thommo , Mar 23 '00
Pros: Feature packed
Cons: Nasty remote controller
I bought a DVD player a few months back, then decided to buy a Cinema amp so that I could get the Dolby Digital / DTS sound experience that DVD offers. Anyway, I figured that if I bought an amp with an FM tuner, I could retire my whole hi-fi stack and...

You get what you pay for

by JSWB , Dec 16 '99
Pros: the ability to control everything individually
Cons: remote isn't backlit, printing wears-off of it fast
The Yamaha RXV795 surround receiver is overall a very good piece of home theater equipment. It is very easy to use, and has virtually every cutting-edge technology feature available in this field. I purchased it because of the 5 separate (discreet)...

The Perfect Home Theater

by jachance , Nov 16 '00
Pros: Multiple home theater modes including Yamaha's exclusive DSP
Cons: The remote is a little unhandy, the letters and numbers are starting to fade ( less than two years of daily use)
I was looking for an up-grade to my stereo system to a home theater type of setup. I did my research for about a year comparing top end Pioneer systems, Sony, Yamaha, and most other top end systems. When it was finally time to make a choice, I took a...

Great Receiver!!!
by neo10246 ,Oct 15 '06
Pros: Great deals can be had on Ebay for this unit.
Cons: No component video but that is minor to me.
I bought this on Ebay for $37.00, and let me tell you, it was the best 37 I've ever spent. The receiver itself was in like new condition, and the performance is terrific, plenty of CLEAN power. This absolutely blows away the TEAC DolbyDig receiver I had. I also had the Yamaha rv850 Prologic receiver before the TEAC, what a mistake changing brands!! Yamaha all the way for me.
