Pros: Full, warm, enjoyable sound Cons: Imaging not as good as some mini-monitors
I recently had chance to listen to Polks RT55i speakers. Technically, these are bookshelf speakers, but they are actually a bit large for easy bookshelf placement. The straightforward, attractive enclosures house two woofers, nominally 6.5" each, with a...
Pros: GREAT sound for the price. Cons: A little large for "bookshelf" speakers.
After playing my CD's through a 1976 Pioneer stereo system with a portable CD player for 10 years, I decided to get serious and by a "real" stereo system. That didn't mean that I wanted to spend extremely serious money, but I wanted a system I...
Pros: clean crisp sound, well constructed, loud, professional quality Cons: none
I seem to come across good deals often. (Pawn shops are great if you have a good relationship with the owner) I was looking for bookshelf speakers to complete my surrond sound system and I couldnt believe what I saw. A Pair of Polk speakers sitting on a...
Pros: sound quality, professional level appearance, well constructed speaker Cons: Discontinued!
Due to the discontinuation of this model, it has been a while since anything has been posted about the RT55. Nonetheless, I have added a pair to my entertainment system thanks to Circuit City. They were the usual out-of-the-box special that the stores...
Pros: quality craftmanship, superior sound, solid construction, choice of colors Cons: can be a little on the expensive side
I recently purchased a pair of RT55i’s from Circuit City. They are absolutely phenomenal. The reproduction in sound is breath taking!! They have very clear highs and a natural bass that will have you craving for more. The craftsmanship is...
After our piece of junk Sony CD player/ boom box died on us, (after two years of service) my wife and I started shopping for a good stereo system. This was no small task because both my wife and I are professional classical musicians and we're very...
Pros: Great reproduction of digitally recorded sound Cons: Not enough for main speakers
The Polk RT55 speaker is a great bookshelf speaker. My only complaint was I outgrew them very quickly. I have had them as my front main speaker for over 6months with the Polk M1 used for the rear speakers and I am already looking to upgrade. They just...
I love my Polk RT55s they are they best speakers I have ever owned. Their full round sound is incredible. Unlike their counterparts from other companies Polk doesn't focus on loud bass, or a crisp upper frequency. Polk's RT55s have 2 6.5-inch drivers...
These speakers are absolutly incredible. Provided with a mediem to low end surround speakers and center speaker you can still have a good system(but you will definitly hear the difference between speakers). I f you are a highly interested consumer and...
bought them in 2001(and I'm never parting with them) by oldschool71 ,Jun 13 '08
Pros: price, power and reference quality Cons: the overall weight makes you question if they are bookshelf
although these speakers had a mixed review(as with all review),it seems obvious that these speakers are ALL THAT.A good(non-wax filled ear) will see that these babies are the best bookshelf speakers in this price range.I'm sure plenty of consumers would gladly spend twice this much on such clean sounding and gorgeous looking speakers. With 200 watt ability, these speakers will thump distortion free.Any great amplifier will thank you for matching them up with them.I personally believe they perform better with 2 channel amps vs. 5.1 and 7.1 surround.Haven't seen a pair on ebay for sale yet and it's obvious why.Only a fool would part with them. They are very heavy(about 40 pounds each). This is due to solid(REAL) wood construction and large, heavy magnets.Allthough the biampable hook-ups in the back scare people, they represent a speaker that is a monitor and loudspeaker all in one. These speakers will surprise you in a way that the old Infinity InfiniTesimal speakers did 30 years ago(allthough the 2 sound nothing alike).
