Mini Monitor: BIG Sound

by brentv , Sep 04 '03
Pros: Beautiful highs and mids; affordable; attractive
Cons: None at this price point.
THE COMPANY The Canadian manufacturer, Paradigm, is quickly becoming my favorite speaker company. They've become famous in the audiophile world by providing excellent performance at extremely affordable prices. Paradigm can do this because they produce ...

Bought these for my rears, ended up as my mains!

by kendslat , Mar 15 '02
Pros: Small footprint. Great Imaging and soundstage. Cost to Value ratio is unbelievable!
Cons: Hard to place.
When I first began listening to speakers to replace my old Yamaha mini's for the back 2 channels in my 5.1 setup, I made a list of everything I wanted to hear.

Boston Acoustics, B&W, Mission... I went to a few different shops and listened to...

You could pay $1000 for speakers that sound this good...why?

by jawzx , Jan 18 '02
Pros: Affordable, natural mids, great bass, excelent imaging.
Cons: Ever so slightly limited high end detail...but this is easily ignored.
I work in a stereo store that happens to be an authorized Paradigm retailer, and when the Mini Monitor was a brand new model I was in the market for my first pair of "entry audiophile" speakers. I was prepared to spend close to $1000...I even had the...

The Mini Monitor v3 (this looks like the first review for v3?)

by babyfootchamp , May 20 '03
Pros: very clear, natural, "flat" sound.
Cons: need decent power to push them, long break-in period
This review is for the mini v3, and, based on the dates posted, it looks as though every other review listed was for the original mini, or the v2...

I do not know what changes the v3 brings to this wonderful speaker. I heard that at some point...

Good Little Speakers

by agent86a , Jun 20 '00
Pros: Smooth, unfatiguing sound, good bass extension
Cons: A bit slower than others, collapsed timbres at lower volume levels.
The Mini Monitors are great little speakers for jazz or rock music. They have reasonable bass extension and they are fast and taut if placed on good speaker stands. They have a very smooth and listenable sound that is never bright or harsh, and they...

Paradigm Mini Monitor v.5 ruined my ears.

by bimmaguy , Sep 09 '08
Pros: Clear, uncolored sound. Good bass extension. Room-filling sound, not size. PRICE!
Cons: Long burn-in, the woofers look like condoms. Grilles are USELESS.
When I first encountered the Paradigm Mini Monitor v.5, my first thoughts were, "meh... another small bookshelf speaker with a good brand name, and little else." On the advice of a friend, (now my BEST friend) I elected to audition a pair before ...

Small in Size, Not in Sound.

by PJCig , Sep 29 '00
Pros: Big sound from small speaker, inexpensive, good bass
Cons: rear port makes it somewhat difficult for perfect placement
The Mini-Monitors from Paradigm have been a top seller if not THE top seller for their company for the last two years. So it comes as some surprise that there have been only three reviews written to this point on these bookshelf speakers. I will add my...

Paradigm Mini Monitors don't sound Mini

by J49307 , Jan 02 '00
Pros: Clean and Clear
Cons: none
Paradigm Mini Monitor, a classic 2-way speaker design in Paradigm's "Quiet Enclosure". It has a 6 1/2" co-poly woofer with a die cast chassis and one 1" titanium tweeter, crossed over at 1800hz. The port is in the rear, which makes it...

Why wouldn't you buy them

by gwog , May 14 '01
Pros: Great price, great value, audiophile sound
Cons: none at this price
This audiophile quality speaker will amaze you. The bass response is amazing for such a small unit. The 6 1/2 driver is the best response size for accurate reproduction, so you will hear things as they were played.

Highly rated by those...

Beautiful sound, small price.

by audiophileguy , Jul 16 '01
Pros: Incredible bang for buck, extremely clean sound.
Cons: Can't think of any.
I purchased a pair of these wonderful little boxes a couple of years ago, and they still impress me every time I use them.

My taste varies widely when it comes to music, and the Mini Monitors sound good with everything I put through them,...

Great Front Channels!

by SnakeEyes , Nov 08 '99
Pros: Great balance for Home Theater and music
Cons: I really can't think of any
I wanted to set up a system that wouldn't break the bank and also provide great sound for my Home Theatre experience. I purchased a paradigm system. This included the Mini-Monitors for the fronts, the CS350 center, and the ADP350 rears (in the ceiling)...

Paradigm Mini-Monitors are a true work of art.
by ragmop ,Nov 22 '04
Pros: Highs are flawless, mids are present yet balanced, lows rock for a 6"er.
Cons: Cons eh?..........hmmmmmmmmmmmm that I don't have a set in every room in my house....
I have only owned my Mini-Monitors for about a month now, and each day I cannot wait to get home from work and crank them up. They sound awesome - and for the price I paid (475 CAD) ,they were worth every penny. I am so glad that I decided to go with Paradigm once again. These are my second set of speakers (I own some Atoms which I have hooked up to my PC through a NAD 320BEE Integrated Stereo Amp). I was so happy with my Atoms that I couldn't resist the Paradigm / NAD combo once again....

These speakers bring new life to your music.
by bballfanatic ,Dec 03 '05
Pros: Great clarity in sound, great value, quality appearance.
Cons: Hard to find a store that sells them.
After owning Bose Acoustimass 5 speakers for more than 10 years, these Mini Monitors are really impressive with their clarity and full range sound. I am using them with a Yamaha SW305 powered sub woofer and Yamaha center speaker, and they sound better than the Bose. I hope to eventually replace all my speakers with Paradigm.

If you don't care about mega bass, you can easily use the Mini Monitors without a sub woofer. They sound like speakers twice their size and price. And they should get even better as they become fully broken in.

WARNING: you will want to sit and listen for hours to all of your old CDs to hear what they should really sound like.

I ordered mine from 6th Avenue Electronics and paid about what some used ones go for on Ebay. You won't find any other speakers that come close to these for the price.
