Pros: Loud, tough Cons: Needs volume adjustment often
Deep bass that shakes the room? Got it. The Velodyne CT-100 is a real rumpshaker of a subwoofer. It sits about 3 feet from my regular listening post, too, which doesn't hurt.
Complaints: No remote, which means constant, backbreaking...
Pros: Good impact Cons: Doesn't blend very well with my Magnepans
When I bought the Velodyne CT-100, I though it was a fantastic sub, when used with my Magnepan MMG speakers. It had good output, didn't sound too boomy, and helped to deliver the "punch" in DVD movies.
Pros: namebrand quality, low frequency response,BOOM! Cons: cheap rubber footpads
I have heard a lot of the subs out there in the 10" range. I have listened to the rivals from Acoustic Research, Klipsch, JBL, Infinity, and Paradigm. NONE of these can even touch the CT100. The sound is rich and clean. I listen to the CT100 running...
Pros: Huge upgrade from passive sub, Loud & CLEAR Bass, Fully Adjustable Cons: Need to reprogram stereo
For all of us Circuit City buffs out there; it may be helpful to know that I have the Kenwood HTB-203A. It's they're cheapest Dolby Digital package. With five satellite speakers and a passive sub.
Now back to the Velodyne CT-100!! I went to...
Pros: Clean and Tight Velodyne Sound. Frequency Response Down to 22hz. Under $400. Cons: No Remote. Can Upset Your Neighbors.
This is the best 10" subwoofer that you can buy. The amount of bass that comes out of this unit for a 10" model is insane, and the bass is clean and crisp. The frequency response goes down to about 22hz in my living room. Running a test with an action...
Pros: Great sound and a great deal, previously owned. Cons: Nothing, small scratches on cabinet but not affecting the sound.
Well I purchased a previously owned one at a Pawn Shop in Indianapolis. The people running the shop had given the previous owner $100 for it. The had it on the floor for a year or so and it never sold, they had never heard of the brand and lowered the selling price to $69.00. It was in great shape and played excellent in the store. I purchased it and took it home, cleaned the cabinet and checked the woofer for movement. No problems at all and it sounds great with my Boston A 40's. Great sub and a great deal obviously! I would recommended Velodyne to anyone looking for a great sub.
