Pros: These entry level speakers will blow you away! Cons: Slightly lacking in the extreme high frequencies but still a standout performer.
Not too long ago my good friend Brent came up to me at work and exclaimed..."Hey, Petey!! Guess what I did!!" At 7 AM in the morning and barely completing my first sip of freshly brewed Dunkin' Donuts coffee it definitely widened my eyes and pumped the ...
Pros: Small, attractive, clear sound, solid construction/manufacturing, still working in 2004! Check out my update! Cons: Mounting brackets sold separately
Let me open by saying that I am not a techno-geek. I do not write in scientific or technical terms. I write for the lay person like myself. I bought my Bose Acoustimass 3 system in about 1994 from HH Gregg. Since I love listening to all kinds of ...
Pros: compact size, delivers quite a bite, Looks beautiful, easy set up, revealing. Cons: lacking in midrange but can Eq. Bass module chuffs. acoustimass has higher frequencies.
received as a present, i think this system is great. i use these speakers for my PC audio and they sound wonderful. as many times said, these are easy listening speakers. in my opinion, they arent made to deliver the impact and experience of bookshelf ...
Pros: Excellent bass reproduction even at the quiets volumes, clear treble. And obviously there size Cons: Spring clips are a problem for some.
Ive hooked these up with a NAD 320 (40W) and believe me i think 40W is plenty. Ive got the amp connected to my PC and i can only manage a quarter of a turn on the volume control, before it gets too loud. I cant see how anyone can say anything bad about...
Bose Team up with Wurlitzer by wakeboard1 ,Apr 29 '06
Pros: Good performance from a small package, ideal where the small size is important Cons: Price as stand alone system
Wurlitzer, the most famous jukebox manufacturer in the world, have teamed up with Bose for their limited edition "One More Time" ipod model. The amplifier system is standard wurlitzer however unlike other wurlitzer jukeboxes the speaker system is an Acoustimass 3 IV system (specified by apple for the ipod addition. The whole package is housed in the traditional jukebox housing as standard however the small cube speakers can be removed and placed outside of the jukebox to give a truer stereo rendition. Across a whole range of music genre, from Rock 'n' Roll to modern "garage" (not sure of the modern terms here) the system performs magnificently. The bass is enhanced by the main Bose module being housed within the jukebox and the satellite speakers give a good mid range performance. Compared side by side with a "B & W" system (1 sub woofer 2 satellite speakers & much more expensive!) the Bose system is superior in my humble opinion. Unless you are after house rattling bass (which is not how most music is provided on CD's) then the Bose system is an excellent choice.
Pros: Hmmm. Well, I suppose size does matter. Cons: Tinny, thin sound. Price is out of proportion to performance.
First I need to say that I am not an audiophile or an expert on speakers. My husband and I simply wanted to replace our huge KLH speakers with something much more compact since we moved to a smaller home. After reading the reviews here and on consumer reports we thought the bose acoustimass 3 speakers would fit the bill. Well, we were wrong. Not even close. We set the speakers up at home (don't even think you can judge the quality at the bose store as the place is a noisy zoo) and played a variety of classical music (cello, orchestral, opera). I could barely tolerate the tinny sound. I doubt that I am particularly sensitive and certainly not knowledgeable about sound but I know a headache when I feel one coming on. These speakers are awful.
Excellent sound small package by stevedeleo ,Aug 12 '04
Pros: Small, excellent sound, respected vendor, good looks, easy hookup Cons: Make sure to put bass module in a place to sound right for you.
Instead of using strange and poor computer speaker solutions, I wanted to use speakers that are meant for real listeners. Speakers that would make my computer work areas enjoyable. Speakers that are made by a company that knows what they are doing. Bose comes to mind. So I bought a little stereo receiver, hooked my two computers up to it, and added these Bose speakers. Got the floor stands too. The all white set. The speakers blend in so well with my home office and the sound is excellent Bose quality. I plan to keep these speakers for a long time as I will be able to use them in a variety of situations as my needs changes. Very happy!
Note: Make sure, as with any speaker separates, that you put the bass module in a place that gives you the best listening pleasure in the place you most frequently sit. Depending where you put it and where you sit and because of the acoustic of your room you could hear no bass or too much boomy bass. This is true with any room and any subwoofer based speaker set.
PRETTY GOOD FOR WHAT IT IS.... by charliepercoco ,Oct 15 '07
Pros: Tiny and cheap. Cons: At the price, none really.
They are tiny, sound good and are cheap.Hooked up to a good budget receiver or amp they will suprise you but do need some tone control help to sound their best. Perfect for the apartment dweller who really can't blast it to 110 db,down to 25HZ,they are a perfect fit.Got mine used and six months old in like new condition for $102.00 including shipping on ebay!Just don't except them to sound like Martin- Logan's cause they ain't! But for what they are and for what they were intended to be matched up with, they are pretty good.
Excellent for Classical and vocals, mediocre for everything else by jgoldenboy ,Oct 01 '04
Pros: Outstanding for Classical, Opera, and vocals Cons: Awful for pop, rock, hip hop, and rap
After owning the original Bose 901 speakers (from 1970) I was in the market for new speakers. Loving Bose I purchased the Acoustimass 3 Series IV. For classical, opera, and vocals (Dean Martin, Perry Como, etc) these speakers are outstanding! However, they are awful for pop, rock, and hip hop/rap. I can't understand how a speaker system that is so superb for Dean Martin' vocals is so awful for Tupac Shakur, but it is. This system is excellent in bass, but the lowest notes in Also Sprach Zarathustra are audible only when the bass module is in the corner of the room.
Overall, if your musical tastes are classical, opera, or vocal, this is an outstanding speaker system. If your taste is hip hop, rap, pop, or rock, .. pass on this system.
Pros: Treble and mid-range is open and clear
Bass is rich and balanced out well Cons: 2 wires from amp to Acoustimass and 2 out to the cubes
This is a great compact system with big open sound for small to medium sized rooms. I have heard better audio systems its the simplicity of hookup and ease of listening to the system what makes the Bose AM3 an enjoyable piece.
