I am a Bose fan and I got this VCS 30 to add along with my 501 Bose speakers so I can get good surround speakers along with a great center channel speaker and to tell you the truth I'm very much pleased with this equipment, it adds more life like sounds...

I have never been seriously interested in any BOSE products
until I started reading all the negative comments about them.
That alone sparked an interest, and I wanted to find out
why some consumers had such strong negative views on these...

Pros: Rear speakers are fantastic. Great bass, wide sound and loud.
Cons: Center speaker is weak and lacks range, and this kit is expensive.

These speakers produce a rather good sound for rear speaker or a main background speaker.

However, as mentioned in my VCS-10 review, which is the center speaker included in this package - I am rather dissapointed.

It lacks the power and range for a center speaker and is often driven into clipping with a moderate amount of power.

Oddly enough, I find the 161s which are a similar speaker very, very hard to drive into distortion.

Great rear speakers.. Poor Center speaker.

Buy the 161s, but listen to the VCS-10 before you choose this package.

I own an acoustimass 15 and bought this set to improve upon the sound. It simply didn't do a great deal of improvement. I even called Bose Tech support to be sure I connected everything properly. Don't get me wrong, the system sounded good, but, I wanted it to sound GREAT. I ended up giving all my Bose Products to my dad (who loves them incidently) and got Polk Audio. I finally got the sound I wanted..but to be fair, It cost me 3X what I paid for the Bose. If you are happy with the Bose sound, then you should get these speakers. If you are not sure..then avoid them...they are simply more of the same.

Awesome! Like everything else Bose makes. After enjoying the system for several months I discovered to my horror that carpenter ants had nested inside the center speaker. After much shaking and banging it, I finally put the speaker in plastic bag and left it inside my freezer overnight. This did the trick, It killed the ants, but I also was expecting to have to buy a new speaker. To my surprise the speaker worked like on the first day, when I connected it again. (Maybe I should sell this to Bose for a comercial...) LOL But it is true!
