Pros: clear picture and sound, affordable Cons: not fancy
I have recently had the time and great opportunity to check out this DVD player from Phillips. DVD's are certainly becoming the wave of the future and I personally have noticed a great deal of quality features that they provide over traditional VCR's....

Pros: Truly Incredible Image Quality and Superb Sound Reproduction !! Cons: None, It pulls you in by the eyeballs and throat and doesn't let you go until the action stops !!
Hot from the factory comes the Phillips DVD825AT, sporting enough sizzle and pazazz to thrill any home movie fanatic. After observing the quality of the player at Rex TVs and Appliances, a local audio video store about 30 mins away from where I live, I...

Pros: Great all-around DVD player! Cons: Where's my remote? (Oh! I'm sitting on it!) =Þ
This is my first DVD purchase and I'm just glad that I made a good decision! The Philips/Magnavox DVD825AT is cheap and offers the necessary features to enjoy a movie on DVD.
I did a lot of research before buying this one, sure I could've...

Pros: Essential features, reasonable price Cons: Remote control somewhat unintuitive
I was looking to get into the DVD game and was somewhat short on cash. I found the answer to my problem with this item.
The Philips DVD 825AT was my first and only DVD player purchase. I've had it for about 9 months now, and I can say that I...

Pros: Video, sound, slow-motion, everything. Cons: No zoom option.
I have been following the path of DVD players since they've first came out. The players have always been extremely expensive, up to $500, which is insane. I, not having the most money in the world, was very distraught by the excessive prices, and...

Pros: PRICE, PICTURE, SOUND, APPEARANCE Cons: NONE
My husband and I previously owned a 13" TV/VCR combo that had literally been around the block and was starting to eat all our VHS tapes. At about the same time (as Murphy's Law seems to dictate), our CD player hit the fan and we were out of luck as...

Pros: Fantastic sound, easy scene access, etc. Cons: Have to watch the commercials, don't get a scratch or it skips BAD!
My wife and I had been kicking it back and forth for quite some time. "DVD's are a fad. They're evil. It'll never catch on. Same way that the 12" video disc player I have is now a large paperweight in my basement."
Well, then...

Pros: Great picture and sound. Very reasonably priced. Cons: Remote takes getting used to, although nice and compact.
I was so glad to see how many people "Loved" this DVD Player. I have owned one for several months and just ordered a second one.
I am a video addict and a gadget addict. I bought the first 825 for my bedroom, since I hadn't yet...

Pros: Great sound and and picture quality! Cons: No S-video c able in box
I got this unit mostly because it claims to play CD-R VCDs. Within a week of getting it, I was ripping VHS tapes on my computer and writing VCDs, and it does indeed work. No more tape wear on the kids' favourites, and instant rewind, too!
I have...

Pros: inexpensive; easy to use; well engineered Cons: lousy remote
BACKGROUND: This review is not intended for the True Video Maven. I'm a regular-joe movie buff: cheap TV (component video inputs, though), sound through a cheap boombox. In this review, I focus on the usability features of the 825AT, not on the video or...

Pros: Perfect Picture and Sound, no rewinding needed Cons: Cannot record as of yet
I bought my first DVD player last week, and have been wanting one for a long time. I have waited for the prices to come down, and sure enough they have finally gotten to the point where they are well worth the price.
I wanted to have that digital...

Pros: Price, Features, Dual RCA Outputs, Quality, Compatibility, User Interface, Upgradability Cons: Remote Layout
While this model normally retails for about $250, I managed to pick it up on sale at Best Buy for only $195. Even at full price, it's worth every penny.
Unlike most DVD players, the DVD825 has TWO sets of RCA (cinch) outputs -- allowing you...

Pros: Easy setup and use Cons: Minor problems when DVD is scratched
Philips has always been good to me in the electronic field. They are both customer friendly and the make excellent working products. The DVD 825 is another beautiful example of their quality.
It plays DVD's, audio CD's, CD-R's and DVD-R's....

Pros: Great picture, flawless performance, unbeatable price! Cons: Confusing audio CD menu, Remote is a bit lacking....
I've never been a big Philips/Magnavox fan, but the 825AT DVD player has totally changed my mind. The picture is clear and crisp w/ the s-video and composite jacks, but it does lack component output...(what do you expect for $199). The onscreen menus...

Pros: You'll never go back to VHS Cons: Nothing at all. I'm telling you.
I'm telling you right now, Once you set your eyes on the picture and sound quality of a DVD player, you'll never go back to VHS ever again.
We bought a DVD player for my parents for Christmas and I'm telling you right now that the picture...
