Pros: Don't need to be a techie to use it Cons: I have yet to find one
My husband and I waited over a year before finally deciding to purchase a DVD player. We'd heard great things about them, but with it being a relatively new technology we were naturally suspicious about any problems the system might encounter. When we...

Pros: Quality sound, video, good price Cons: Lack of multi-disc support
The Philips Magnavox 825AT is literally a theater in a box. It features digital DVD and VCD playback giving it the quality of a theater at the price of a regular VCR. DVD is the growing technology that will replace VHS tapes and the CD in one felt swoop....

Pros: Plays 10 bit format, Great Button Position on the Remote Control. Cons: Can't pause multiple disk and restart from where you left off.

Versatile and Dependable after 10 years!

Pros: Video and especially audio performance. Maxed-out connection versatility. Cons: REMOTE TOO SMALL!!
This was the very first DVD player that I bought and while we now have 7 DVD-capable machines in the living room alone in 2008, this will always be my favorite for the performance, features and versatility of the connections. Boasting both optical and coaxial digital connections and two sets composite A/V outputs, it may be a rare breed. I believe this ALSO have been the first model with built-in SRS Tru-Surround and a dual laser system, one optimized for CD playback and the other for DVDs.
For audio, I have the coaxial digital output connected to the home theater and the digital coaxial (fiber optic) connected to my AR Dolby Digital wireless headphone system.
The first set of composite outputs go to the TV. I've opted to use the S-video and composite audio from the the second to my VRFx 3-D system.
I've been using this several days a week for over 10 years and it's never had a hiccup, which is why I've also gone with Philips for my (much newer) DVD recorders.
