Pros: It holds up to 200 DVD and or CD Dics! Cons: It is a large unit!
With this unit you do not need a CD player and a DVD player because it is both built in one with a library storage of 200 discs. I know all DVD players will play a CD but this one is especially made for both so you don’t need two units.
Pros: 200 DVD changer, sound Cons: Picture, GUI, Remote
After my DVD collection hit 140, I decided to go out and buy a DVD changer that could handle this many DVD's. I decided to go with Sony's 200 DVD changer after having good luck with Sony products.
Pros: 200 discs, 5.1 Analogue out Cons: 200 discs?! overpriced.
First of all, for this thing to be of any real value you'll need 200 DVD's, and one hell of a memory. I have a 6-disc CD player in my car, and I forget which disc is after number 2 all the time. Now I have no Idea how I would ever figure out 200 DVD's,...
Pros: great video & audio & component outs Cons: User unfriendly interface/Too bulky
I purchased this player about a month back for just shy of $500. We already owned a Toshiba DVD, and our collection of movies was growing to the point where my wife was tired of all the DVD cases accumulating in our apartment. I also wanted to upgrade...
with this 200 disc cd / dvd mega changer, your entire digital entertainment collection is stored, organized and available for play at the touch of a button. No need to search through sleeves, storage books or jewel cases anymore. you can control a sony...
Pros: Huge storage capacity Cons: Some interface problems
Being able to store an entire DVD/CD collection is cool, but it's pretty clear that the user interface is not yet mature. Many features work only in particular situations, which may not always be obvious. (e.g. it's far from obvious how to select a disk...
Pros: Convenient Sort method for DVDs Cons: User interface needs a little work
Generally speaking I have usually had good luck with Sony Products but the Sony DVP-CX850D is not quite ready for "prime time." When I say that I am referring to the user interface more than anything else. The audio and video output quality...
Pros: ...Convenient Storage, Electrophiles will love it... Cons: ... Poor interface, Complicated to use at first...
... The Sony DVP-CX850D is a great DVD player, once you can figure out how to use it. I pride myself on being technologically savvy... I never read the instruction manuals to figure out how to use things. I definitely met my match and then some...
Pros: Don't have to get off the Lazy Boy to change discs Cons: trying to remember where they all are
Well, I was looking for a new DVD Player (you wouldn't believe what happens if you put a mini-pizza in a DVD player...but it made sense to my son until about 5 seconds after he did it) I figured I would buy a Sony. Are they the best? Yes. Are the...
Pros: Fingertip control of on-screen display, space saving Cons: None
When I was shopping for a dvd player, I was looking for as many features as I could get for the money I was willing to spend. I also wanted a multi-disc changer.
When I found the Sony DVPCX850D, it was all I wanted and more. I have...
Pros: ease of connection of this combo unit Cons: none
The Sony DVP-CX850D is excellent when it comes to the number of possibilities for home theater entertainment. I have my unit connected to a Sony STR-DE935 for a awesome five-channel home theater experience. The massive capacity allows you to keep all...
Pros: Stores 200 discs, can organize them into folders Cons: Hard to remove discs, price, having to type in titles
I recently started a home business which really took off at Christmas time this year, and I was able to buy this for my husband for Christmas. Wasn't he surprised?
He had been looking at multi-disc CD changers for over a year, and when I saw...
Sony has taken home theatre to a new level, integrating DVD-video into movie lover's home theater systems and included a built-in solution for storing extensive DVD and CD collections, too, with their DVP-CX850D -- a 200 DVD/CD changer that simplifies...
Pros: Works great Cons: Confusing instruction manual
Functionally, this unit is great. The only problem is the instruction manual and the remote control. The manual is the worst written "guidebook" I have ever seen. Further, none of the controls or functions of the remote control are close to...
Pros: holds up to 200 CD/DVD Cons: will not play CD-R or RW media
Your discs just keep piling up. With a DVD/CD changer such as the Sony DVP-CX850D, you can store up to 200 discs in the player. All of your DVDs and CDs (or at least 200 of them) will be at your fingertips. No more sorting through your collection for...
Pros: 200 DVDs, Folders, Easy to use interface Cons: Big, Interface is slow
I bought this DVD player when my collection was at about 50, thinking "It'll take forever to buy 150 more DVDs." Oh, how wrong was I? But, I'm not talking about that here.
The first thing I'll mention, which is the obvious feature, is that it...
Pros: Holds 200 DVD's and/or CD's!! Cons: Onscreen Navigation a little slow
I only have about 50 DVD's right now, but what I love about this player is that I can put all of the DVD's in the changer, put the box in cold storage, and watch whatever I want whenever I want! I really saves a lot of shelf space. Do you know how much...
Pros: Convenient storage for CDs and DVDs, image quality & sound Cons: Be careful if using with a Sony receiver!!
I purchased an ES series receiver with the 200 disc dvd/cd changer. The lower ES series receiver comes with a handy remote that (supposedly) controls all of Sony's products and many products from other manufacturers.
After my DVD collection hit 140, I decided to go out and buy a DVD changer that could handle this many DVD's. I decided to go with Sony's 200 DVD changer after having good luck with Sony products.
I thought that a DVD changer would be a great thing to have especially if it holds 200 dvd's. So when I found out that Sony was coming out with a DVD changer--not 5 or 6 discs, but 200, I was excited. So I went to pick one up when it was available for...
Pros: plain and simple, it allows you to put 200 dvd's in one player Cons: The player is too big for an average entertainment rack system.
The 200 dvd/cd changer is a lifesaver (actually spacesaver)! It lets you keep your dvd's all in one box and lets you select by title, disc #, or type of film. The disc explorer option makes it different from any other dvd player. It also has more...
Pros: Great for DVD storage.Loads of features. Cons: Power this unit up it auto plays last Disc.
I bought the Sony 850D in December of "99". I've read the other opinions, and after owning this unit, I'd have to say that I found a few flaws in it.
Number one: This is purely a 200 DVD changer. Why? The 850 forces you to use the on...
Pros: Easy to use, organized, saves space Cons: Small lag when scrolling through list of Disks in player.
I recently got this DVD Player for Christmas, and it definitely has some awesome features. First of all, it holds up to 200 DVD's, CD's, or Video CD's. This is very nice for anyone who has a large collection of Compact Disks (or DVD's or Video CD's)....
I got one of these about a week ago. It is my first DVD player and I got it because I have a huge collection (150-170) of CDs. What this allowed me to do is retire my old CD player and replace it with the DVD. I simply put all of my CDs in there and...
Pros: good storage Cons: no CDrs, disc changing is difficult
We bought this DVD player because of its ability to hold 200 CDs and/or DVDs. We got rid of our regular CD player and now use this as both our CD Player and DVD PLayer. It is great for that reason alone. There are a few drawbacks however. It is not...
Pros: The speaker management capabilities. The Video NR and adjustments. Title management on-screen. CONVENIENCE. Dolby Digital 5.1 descete outputs for a Dolby Digital ready receiver. Cons: It's a bit big, but I made it fit in my stereo cabinet. Once I have 200 DVDs, I guess I will have to buy another DVP-CX850D.
I had a Toshiba DVD player with Dolby Digital output. I hooked my receiver up with 6 channel descrete(5.1) and turned it on. First thing I noticed was compatability problems with certain disc. Some would not play in Dolby Digital mode. Some would not...
I looked at a couple of different products and finally decided on this one because of the disc capacity. After getting it home and setup I too noticed the cumbersome controls used to enter the titles I guess I expected it to automatically grab all of the...
Pros: Space saving, onscreen disc explorer, DTS sound Cons: Entering titles and time to learn all the features
I waited for a year for Sony to bring out a 5 disc DVD player with DTS. When they did (DVP-C650D) they also brought out something I hadn't even dreamt about the 200 disc changer/player. Although the first one I got had a defective changer mechanism,...
Pros: Space saver Cons: expensive for non-DVD collectors
200 disc DVD player that also plays CD'S. Why not? Purchased at 799.00, you could not ask for a much better offer from Sony. In my experience this player has it's ups and downs as like all the rest. First, you can load it to the max and has almost every...
Pros: Shows sharp crisp images Cons: price is a bit high
I like this product because it displays sharp images. The images are so clear and precise that they will blow you away. And the sound it so clear, it doesn't compare to regular DVD players. Though the price is a bit higher that other regular priced DVD...
Pros: Load up to 200 DVDs.
Great for TV series. Cons: Large Unit.
Heavy.
I've had this DVD player for about 6 years. I purchased it on Ebay, for $72 including shipping. Barely used, it looked absolutely brand new.
It is FANTASTIC! Just load the DVDs and the player will read them for you. It will not read and add the title for all (those you will have to enter manually). It's extremely easy to navigate, once all your dvds are in the player. You can also sort by CD, DVD, Genre, etc.
I have a long way to go until I reach 200 dvds but it is so very nice to be able to turn on the player scroll through the list, pick a movie and play it, without having to rummage through my dvds.
It is especially great if you have TV series that have 8 or more DVDs. No getting up and changing discs.
I personally have not had any type of issues with this player. No audio, visual, mechanical problems of any kind... and I use it.... A LOT!!!
I don't know what I will do once the HD/BluRay is war is decided. I am not willing to give up my Sony 200-disc DVD Player.
Pros: It's a neat product, but suffers from the failings of how Japanese product groups operate. Cons: Time-to-load on random play and the remote; too many buttons.
This thing rocks! It has the odd bug; the PRNG is very predictable the time to load on 'random' play is annoying and the 'one disc / all discs' button which also does 'load' can ruin your whole day.
However, I have a mail-order DVD that has a 1cm square of scratches on, but it just plays it.
Now if they could have just added an an IP interface so it could 'talk' to the CDDB. That would be cool, 'cos very few bands [Aerosmith, Offspring] put icons and titles on their CDs.
It's now playing the double live DVD of Led Zep and Kashmir has kicked in :)
Most DVD players have the same features, with only a few differences (zoom, title, ect). While this model does not offer a zoom, all other features are present (multi-angle, multi-audio). One big plus (which is also a minus) is the digital audio output. Many recievers (especially the "home theatre in a box" types) have inputs for 5.1 channel audio, but not an input for digital. Just double check that the audi inputs/outputs will match the system you have or are looking to buy
