Pros: Inexpensive. Small. Nice remote. Cons: Mine broke after 2 years. Batteries wear out too easily. Remote glitches.
I bought my Sharp MD-MS702 player/recorder for $225 in March 1999. It lasted me around 2 years. While my friend was ejecting a disk, the laser broke. The cost to fix the laser would be more than buying a new more recent model.
As a professional classical musician, decent recording equipment is essential. I have used this unit to record anything from lessons and rehearsals to demos, and it has consistently performed well since I bought it 2 years ago.
Pros: Great sound, slot-in loading, pretty easy to use Cons: Rather large and heavy, risk of UTOC error if you're unlucky with it
The Sharp MD-MS702MK portable minidisc recorder provokes strong reaction from the MD user community. For some, it symbolizes the worst in Sharp MD recorder design, due to the unforgiveably high number of UTOC errors that have prematurely ended the lives ...
Pros: Good Sound Cons: BIG, Bad battery life, MALFUNCTIONS, falls apart at the seams
Ok...For all you who don't know, Sharp has discontinued this unit because of many reported malfunctions in the TOC (table of content..its the thing that reads tracks and titles). I heard that this problem happens in about half of these recorders so I...
Pros: Small, good quality, well specced Cons: Some other MD's are less high
This is one fine, fine piece of kit. I got it a couple of years ago in a sale for £150 and it’s been faultless. I did a sound engineering course at night school during my A-Levels (Thats the bit just before uni folks) and this device was a huge help. At...
Pros: Loaded with features, great sound Cons: entering music info is a bit of a pain
I love the Mini Disk format. For those who don't know much about it, I would suggest the following site to see just what everyone loves about the format. (http://www.t-station.net/md_links.html)
Pros: It plays MiniDiscs, It comes with a decent set of headphones Cons: Poor layout, Low-quality design
I was looking for a portable music device and I couldn't decide on either an MP3 player or a CDplayer. When I traveled to Japan I saw all these people with minidisc players and I fell in love. I hurried home and bought this Sharp and was amazed by it's...
Pros: Loading Mechanism, Remote, Ease of use Cons: Headphones, Remote got scratched.
About 2 years ago I started getting intrigued with the Minidisk technology. So, I started shopping around, and found the 702 model to be the best for the money. I was very happy with its ease of use and the superior material used in its construction....
Pros: good sound quality while it lasted, lit remote, headphones are pretty nice Cons: broke in 4 months, big, heavy, no belt clip, cheap screws fall out on their own, price, confusing to operate, bad battery life, the list goes on and on...
Well i bought this MD because of both the price and the look. Well looks can be decieving, because this minidisc has been the biggest waste of cash i've ever spent. I bought it back in May of 2000, with the money i got for my birthday (also in May). I...
Pros: Inexpensive, Functional Cons: A Little Bulky
The MD-MS-702 is a great entry level portable recorder. I have used it to record live shows, in my car, at the gym, hooked to my stereo and my computer. It was very inexpensive when I bought it, but it never disappointed me at all. It is a popular...
I've had my 702 for a year now,and have zero complaints. I had originally purchased a Sony home deck/player bundle and wanted a portable recorder as well. After finding the 702 to be the cheapest,I decided to go with it since I've always had good luck...
I don’t own, but frequently use a Sharp 701 portable minidisc recorder, and I have to say that although it’s old now, has only 10 seconds antishock, and uses ATRAC 5, I think it is still one of the best minidisc recorders there are, and if you see one...
Pros: Plays and records MiniDiscs without too much hassle. Great for long car rides, jogging, and various other activities. Cons: Possible mechanical problems, scratched plastic, less than CD quality.
The Sharp MD-MS702 was my first encounter with the world of MiniDisc. I needed a way to make my MP3s portable, without the limitations of an MP3 player's memory. The ability to rewrite MiniDiscs almost endlessly was a huge selling point for me. Never...
Pros: long battery life, operates Cons: no known PC interface, a little fatter than current models
I wish it had a PC interface. Aside from that...Good price. All the bells and whistles. No 'door' to mess with like the Sony. I bought my MS-702 in Dec 98 when shopping for the best all-round MD player. When I asked a salesman to help me compare the...
Pros: Everything but the power supply. Cons: The power supply, of course, and battery life is only 6 hours or so.
The Sharp 702 was the first MD recorder I bought, and for a year or so I thought it was better than sliced bread. I paid $300 for it at Circuit City, but that was back when the 702 was top of the line. The unit is fairly tough, the sound is good, the...
