Rio PMP-500 (64 MB) MP3 Player

Pros: Plays MP3s and Audible audio books
Cons: Defective products, no support past Windows 98, Customer service sucks

Avoid RIO players at all costs, they're junk. My Rio 500 broke within weeks and I had to have a replacement sent out by the company. The replacement was all scratched up and I had to ask for yet another replacement that was new like the one I had.

Everything with the replacement's been okay, but it doesn't support any other versions of Windows beyond 98. SonicBlue seems to think you should buy a new player every year to keep up.

Even at $49, there are much better players out, don't waste your time or money with any SonicBlue RIO.

The sound quality is great and featurs are good. Light and small in size, it can use 128MB SmartMedia external memory that can be changed in seconds, this MP3 player is just Great !

The sound quality is great and the expandability is a plus. The windows software is horrible but with a Mac it hooks up seamlessly with ITunes. A good buy if you can get it for a cheap price.

This has been a great mp3 player for me. I own two other mp3's and the rio's sound and ease of use is quite a bit better. I have also been able to upgrade the internal software, this is a big plus.
