Pros: Good channels Cons: Satellite costs the same but with more channels
It seems to me that all of the opinions I've read so far seem to be from Comcast customers on the east coast. So I'll offer my Comcast West coast opinion. I have no choice as to my cable TV,it's Comcast or no one. I live in a very mountainous area...

Pros: Wanttoberippedoff? Comcast is perfect for you. They steal 1000s of hours of your life. Ifnotyourtimetheystealyourmoney. Cons: TheirExistence.Don't have internet? It's $4.99 to pay your bill with a person. IcouldwriteabookontheCons15wordsisnotenough. Summedupinoneword: EVERYTHING
If only there was another provider of HighSpeed internet without a satellite dish I would never deal with Comcast again. Signing a contract with the devil himself would be better. It, at least, would be easier to contact the devil than Comcast and the ...

Pros: convenience, many channels Cons: price
When I moved into my new apartment I called the cable company to hook up my cable and the service man proceeded to tell me about Digital Cable. I had never heard about it so I asked him to explain it to me. He said that the sound and picture quality...

Stay away if you can!
by hikihome ,Mar 23 '08
Pros: nothing Cons: everything.
It is a company with terrible Internet service and customer service!
* the technicians are untrained. One spent 3 hours to set up my service. The other spent 1 hours to understand my service was disconnected when Comcast set up the service for neighbors. I spent 3 hours on phone in order to activate my service.
* the phone service staff are terrible. They promised to do anything (setup/cancel services, fix billing errors, etc.) However, nothing could be done before calling on the same issue 4 hours and spent hours of explaining.
* the billing errors happen frequently. If you don't look at your bill carefully, you probably paying much more than you think. And each error takes unlimited phone calls and forever to fix.
* Comcast overwrites a lot TV ads and insert its own ads and programs

Comcast. Great service? Or the greatest service?
by redmage2k ,May 02 '07
Pros: Great picture
Loads of channels.
Fast internet.
Awesome customer service. Cons: They don't have more services to which I could subscribe.
I've had Comcast cable and internet for more then five years and digital phone service for 18 months. In this time I have seldom had any issues with the service, and anything that did come up was promptly taken care of, the people on the phone are always nice, polite, and willing to help.

Horrible customer service
by dlangness ,Nov 04 '06
Pros: Ok as long as you don't have problems with them. Cons: HORRIBLE customer service! Company does NOT care about their customers!
I've been a comcast customer since 2003. I had broadband internet, digital phone and cable television service. Everything was fine until I put in an order for additional outlets for cable tv. They said I could have digital cable for an additional $5.00 a month. This was a lie, it was actually $20.00 a month more. The digital cable never did work right, I couldn't get the one channel I wanted plus the reception was crappy. Finally they came out to change my huge cable box for a smaller one. Things were better then until I had more problems with comcast. I got misinformation from several of comcast reps when I phoned. When I complained, all I got was "I'm sorry someone gave you the wrong info". Basically they told me it was my problem. My repeated requests to speak to a supervisor were refused. Anyway, I am no longer a comcast customer. I would rather go to the trouble of getting new carriers for all my services than continue to do business with them.

Comcast Has Ups and Downs!
by therobiscool4 ,Jun 13 '07
Pros: Great Picture, Many Channels, Helpful Customer Service Cons: High Price (On a budget? DONT GET!!!)
I have the Comcast Digital Cable. I cancelled my HBO subscription because of the high price. I just have the basic digital channels and also Encore service. I love the digital picture its great. I hate the high price, and occasional service outages. I would recommend just the digital cable because if you get additional channels that means digging deeper into your wallet.

Comcast does not care
by alang7822 ,Dec 09 '07
Pros: non at this time Cons: not dependable - poor service -rates to high
My cable/internet/phone stays on the fritz more often than not. When you call for help you are given an appointment days in the future. Cannot talk to anyone local.
Problem is never corrected. Keep raising rates. Now, a new rate increase and my cable/internet/phone being out for 3 days running is not acceptable. We NEVER had this problem until our company was bought out by Comcast. The previous company would take care of you the day you called.
I was told that I could not get digital quality with my T.V.. I know that but I should be able to get better than rabbit ears quality. When the cable goes out it takes out my phone many times in the middle of important calls. I would not recommend Comcast to anyone, mainly because of their poor service.

cable not reliable for phones.
by desk11 ,Jan 15 '08
Pros: initially less expensive than at&t Cons: not reliable and support staff are rude.
It seemed like a good idea to have my phone service bundled with my cable and internet. I did not realize that when the cable goes down, it could take quite a while for the phone to work again. It does not go back on instantly, it could take several hours.I wish I had not changed. I would be better off just using my cell phone instead of a flaky landline connection.
The calls to customer service take a long time and the staff can be rude. They try to use technological words to explain the problem, but are using them incorrectly. My cable went out entirely, later that day when the cable service was restored, my phones did not work. The operator tried to tell me that it was the phones that I was using with convoluted arguements that made no sense. It is the baffle them with nonsense approach to customer service. When called on that, they become surly. I cannot imagine how that serves the company.
The phone company is just fine, and a cell phone would be more reliable.

WORST online payment system I've ever seen
by slowman ,Aug 27 '09
Pros: None Cons: WORST online payment system I've ever seen
The online payment system is very confusing and terrible to use. For example, if you use their EcoBill system and a few months later you want to go back and check which credit card you actually used, you won't see it. You call them, the customer rep doesn't know either. Every time you set up or update the information, even if it's just a tiny change on the billing address or a new expiration date, there will be a 2-3 months gap when automatic payment won't work, and you'll have to manually pay for your bills. Making it worse, you have no idea when the auto-payment starts to work, so you risk paying one bill twice.
This is the WORST online payment system I've ever seen.

every shady practice available
by jdune ,Feb 06 '07
Pros: Sometimes fast internet Cons: poor service, poor quality, billing errors
Comcast has a monopoly where I live- in the nation's capitol.
Service and billing are both bad.
Initially, they missed the THREE hour window for two different appointments. The third appointment a guy showed up and did a less than perfect job. Free installation is promised in these situations. Comcast DC offered only $20 per visit. This amount was never credited until I called and complained.
I had a promotional price for my internet. Comcast somehow did not receive this part of the order. I was charged full price. A fax was required to change it. No email, no mail. Only a fax.
After that was over, I was charged for my own modem. I called to complain. No way to fix it without another fax.
I wanted to downgrade my service- no information given on the help page. Only on upgrading. AND you CANNOT mail the digital tuner. It must be delivered in person in a not so great part of the city.
In addition to these problems, they are really expensive. About $50 a month for internet (with taxes, etc) and 70-80 for decent cable (no premium channels) with taxes.

Comcast charges cancelation fees even when you are not under a contract
by srsjr ,Sep 22 '09
Pros: none Cons: Their service is not great. Their prices are high. Their support is horrible.
I canceled all services except internet and was charged an $11 "Service Change Fee" even though I was not under any special contract requiring me to keep the services. None of the employees that handled the cancelation bothered to mention I would be charged. I guess they were hoping I would not notice.

Appalling broadband service
by lonewolfpc ,Oct 12 '06
Pros: Good speed when it works, HDTV is great. Cons: Poor reliability, customer service is a joke.
Comcast is the only cable broadband provider in my area, so my fellow IT co-workers refer to them as "the circle of pain". Once you are inside, it just keeps hurting. I pay $42.95 for Internet alone that includes 8Mbps download and 384Kbps upload speed. I must say that when my Internet is up, the speed is great. That's just it, my service goes down almost daily, sometimes for several hours. To make matters worse, when I call customer service and finally get through to a human, they lie about the service being down and tell me it must be my computer. On one service call, the customer service agent wanted me to put the system restore CD in a PC that was in perfect working order to reload my operating system. Comcast must realize there is a problem, because they recently sent a letter stating that due to network issues in my area, they were offering HBO or STARZ free for 6 months. I don't need more channels, I need a working Internet connection! If you live in Northeast Kansas and you are considering Comcast, don't, unless you want to join "the circle of pain".

Earth to Comcast
by mrusamike ,Apr 08 '07
Pros: Nice Looking Black Boxes Cons: Their initial response was good to set up the cable box and lines.
I preface my review of Comcast by saying that prior to this incident, I never had any issues with their equipment or customer service. That being said, my latest cable adventure began with the cable installer drilling holes holes in my garage and leaving the sheet rock dust all over my garage... This pro mechanic connects the cable and doesnt check to verify if all cables were working...there not..
A call to customer service reveals that they might be able to fix the problem while were in the phone. I'm told at the end of the call that my box needs 30 minutes to reset and it will be okay. I have been lied to..it doesn't work..2nd call into customer service center and I am told that they will have to put a ticket order in to fix and it might take 2 days to get a call back. .i ask if that means they will fix the problem. The customer service rep tells they will try to fix the problem over the phone. Huh?
Needless to say...i might have to consider dish network

Customer service is very poor and frustrating
by ernestforman ,May 13 '09
Pros: Available in my area Cons: The mess up too much and can not be relied on.
Installation of high speed internet was scheduled for Monday 5/11/09. Somehow, it was cancelled INSIDE comcast.
Customer service responded by scheduling for Tuesday 5/12/09. Same thing happened. They don't know why. So they appologized again and scheduled it for Wednesday 5/13.
When I called on 5/13 to verify that they were coming, they told me that the appointment was for a week from Wednesday, 5/20. Another mistake.
Is anyone listening? I originally was ordering internet and cable TV -- high def, recorder, premiums etc. But since they are so poor in response, I'm going with DirectTV for the TV portion -- so at least they lost $1K
per year of my business to DirectTV. Maybe someone at Comcast will wake up.
