Comcast customer service is awful. They underbilled me several months ago and without warning decided to shut off my service.
I called them to ask why my service was shut off, I was informed that I was underbilled MONTHS ago, and the operators acted as though it was MY fault that they underbilled me!
They said it's a customer's responsibility to fix error's with the monthly bill.
Anything and Nothing is better than Comcast by techmaster55 ,Dec 23 '09
Pros: stealing from hardworking americans Cons: Disjointed customer service that needs an overhaul
I jumped on board with what I thought was a great deal, the comcast triple play. It came with a $200 rebate and free HBO. After 6 months i have learned what a junker of a deal this was. There are all sorts of hidden fees and add on charges. The phone rarely works. The HD channels go out randomly due to bandwidth issues. The rebate never came and never will. Finally cancelled due to the poor service and worthless customer service reps. Save yourself the frustration and go with directtv or even digital rabbit ears.
Reasons to avoid Comcast:
- Random HD channel outages - Glitchy HD channels - phone service works 50% of the time at best - hidden charges - don't honor their rebate - low IQ customer service reps - bandwidth limitations - 1080i max - $250 cancellation fee
Charging me for my own cable modem by nlightfeldt ,Mar 28 '06
Pros: Service is fairly reliable. Cons: Absolutely no concern for the customer.
When I started their Internet service several years ago, I took the time to research and make sure I was buying a compatible cable modem, because I didn't want to pay their monthly $3 charge for a modem. A year went by, and one month I took the time to really go over the bill. Lo and behold, they are charging me the monthly $3! I call them, and basically they say "okay, prove the modem is yours". I say "wait a minute, you prove it yours!" They read off the serial number on the back of the modem as "proof". Well, of course they have the serial number because the installer copied all that information when he came to install the cable/Internet service. I have called 4-5 times to argue with them, to no avail. My sales receipt for the modem is long-lost. The fact that it is only $3 a month makes it a low-priority, but what happens when I want move? I have to give them back my modem that I have been paying on month after month? It's crazy. I am contacting the local franchise board to see if I can get a resolution.
Pros: NONE Cons: Terrible Service, Do not show up at all, Costs Too Much
Internet Service is just as bad as a modem. My service Fades in and out and the Customer Service is Twice as Bad.... I had scheduled an appointment for 5-8pm. At 5:30 I had received a phone call to verify that I was home. AT 8:30pm still no Technician....(I called and asked where he was? no one could tell me). What made this even worse was that I didn't receive a courtesy call telling me that he would not be making it. Maybe everyone should start just making appoints and not be there that would waste comcast's time and money just like they do to everyone else. And all they want to offer me is $20....that chump change compared to the $12,000 a year I pay for cable and internet. If there were other services available I be on it in a heart beat.
Who hasn't had problems with Comcast? by erinmpolzin ,Mar 18 '07
Pros: great "On Demand" selection Cons: Everything
When we heard that Time Warner Cable was being switched to Comcast in our city, we were very happy. We had been having problems with Time Warner for years and years, but living in an apartment we're not allowed to have a satellite dish. Time Warner was our only option. Then Comcast came along, and we thought our problems were solved. Boy, were we wrong!
Every month we find something else wrong with our bill. When we call customer service, we're on hold for 20 minutes or more, and when we finally are able to talk to someone, they are rude, they blame the mistakes on us, and don't do anything to change it. They've been charging us $5 a month because we DON'T have digital phone service through them. I don't think that's very fair. Each month our bill gets higher and higher, but since they won't explain the charges to us, we have no choice but to pay it.
The only good thing about Comcast is their great "On Demand" selection. Lots of movies, tv shows and music videos.
All in all, Comcast is awful. But for us, there is no other choice.
Pros: None Cons: Bad service. Bad quality. Bad value. Bad attitude. ....
Comcast is not worth half what they charge you. I have recently gone to Direct-TV and do not regret it one bit. Way better picture (and service). I recently heard that Comcast is like Home-depot. They fire all their experienced, higher paid employees and then hire a bunch of newbees. Comcast won't be around for ever. Watch and see.
Pros: None - You just don't have an alternative cable choice. Cons: Everything - products and service.
This is the worst company that I have ever dealt with. The phone and Internet service is terrible. The customer service and the way that they deal with their own customers is even worse than the cable, phone, and Internet service.
Wouldn't wish HSI on my worst enemy! by skinipup ,Apr 20 '06
Pros: Only in their law offices. Cons: High speed claims that you can't actually use it!
Comcast has been berry berry bad to me...here is my breakdown of their offerings...
-Basic Cable: Overall not too bad, reasonable price (when it is working properly).
-Digital Cable: Overpriced since there are not many actual digital channels. Most channels are the same quality as just using Basic cable! And the boxes have terribly slow response.
-HD Cable: N/A (haven't tried)
-High Speed Internet(HSI): They claim it's fast but you can't actually use it! I got a call saying I was using too much bandwidth, but they wouldn't tell me how much is too much. Conversation goes like this-He gives me the amount of usage saying it's too much and to cut usage "considerably" or my service will be cut off; I ask what is too much, he says he can't give me a number! I ask if the service is unlimited and he says no. I ask him what the limit is and he says I can't give you a number! HUH?!?!?! (Then the conversation goes around in circles for a long time)
So they set arbitrary limits but won't call it either limited or unlimited until they cut you off...total BS! I hear a lawsuit coming...
I've been a Comcast customer for one year now by surfandsand ,Jul 15 '07
Pros: one bill for 3 services Cons: poor quality HD broadcasts. very poor quality telephone (digital voice) service. Louzy customer service.
I've been a comcast customer for a year and it's been a painful experience. Their internet service is great but that's because all my neighbors have DSL so I don't have to share bandwidth. Their High Definition digital cable is very poor quality. I switch over to a dog ear antenna to watch local broadcasts in HD simply because comcast HD is so poor quality. Lots of little boxes all over the screen. My TV is a brand new Sony that looks great when watching DVD's so I know it's a comcast problem. Their digital voice telephone service is the biggest disappointment. The voice quality is very poor with lots of background noise and strange random beeps and buzz. I know all the comcast techs on a first name basis and they are just as frustrated as I am. I plan to switch to BellSouth service but I'm afraid the process is going to painful.
Terrible customer service...rates keep climbing by jerry_kaiser ,Dec 24 '03
Pros: More channel availability than with an antenna Cons: Just about everything else.
Goodbye Comcast, hello DISH.
We've struggled with Comcast and it's predecessor, ATT. Customer service and tech support seem to be made impossible to access, with interminable waits and a maze of automated prompts to wade through. It's totally impossible to identify programming on community access channels (not that it's a frequent concern); however, the degree of frustration in problem solving has been maddening.
Several channels have been plagued by static and poor picture quality, none of which has been resolved by the provider.
We've gotten a decent deal from DISH, so we're bailing out of Comcast ASAP.
Pros: Nice Looking Black Boxes Cons: Their initial response was good to set up the cable box and lines.
I preface my review of Comcast by saying that prior to this incident, I never had any issues with their equipment or customer service. That being said, my latest cable adventure began with the cable installer drilling holes holes in my garage and leaving the sheet rock dust all over my garage... This pro mechanic connects the cable and doesnt check to verify if all cables were working...there not..
A call to customer service reveals that they might be able to fix the problem while were in the phone. I'm told at the end of the call that my box needs 30 minutes to reset and it will be okay. I have been lied to..it doesn't work..2nd call into customer service center and I am told that they will have to put a ticket order in to fix and it might take 2 days to get a call back. .i ask if that means they will fix the problem. The customer service rep tells they will try to fix the problem over the phone. Huh?
Needless to say...i might have to consider dish network
Comcast could care less about you!!! by twinreg1 ,Jun 27 '08
Pros: Only at the windows. Cons: Overpriced, incompetent and they don't care!!
Comcast in Philadelphia knows they are a monopoly and they treat their customers as such. Tech support is quite ditzy at times. Comcast just announced they are upping their rates by 3.2% Jan 1, '06. This is their usual blanket statement of how "increased value for their services" is supposed to be good for us. Even though the Philadelphia Inquirer 's 11-23-06 article mentions their poor customer service. It shows Comcast could care less about the masses. I live in an apartment bldg so I have no choice but to have Comcast if I want to see clear tv. It's a shame.
Comcast/communists,,,state monopolies are guaranteed to be HORRIBLE !! by cal48boy ,Sep 12 '05
Pros: The 800 # for customer service is for frequent complaining. Cons: Overpriced, ill mannered, monopolistic mediocre, politicians saddled us with this ???!!!
We have a relatively new tv, but the picture quality and wide variation is sound level from station to station on Comcast cable tv service is driving us ,,,very very unhappy !!
And when you phone their customer service 800 number there is the usual-background message is we really do not want to talk to you-tedious long 8-10 button phone tree to go thru without any chance to just dial "O" for a live person,or even a dead person !! Usually the attitude of the rep of Comcast is bored,,,impolite with out a good morning or good afternoon, plese and thank you ,customary civility,,,so you just want to yell and scream,,,which doesn't seem to work cuz Comcast probably gets alot of very unhappy customer monopoly phone calls.
Oh, if you want a laugh, read mallow6's review,,,a college student here in Silicon Valley also ,but obviously he thinks terrible service that he describes is 4 star good!!,,, Drugs,,,or just immaturity,,,or payola,,,???
How can they NOT screw it up by brhbrh ,Dec 19 '03
Pros: Decent high-speed Internet Cons: Horrible on-screen interface and customer service screwups at all levels
My problems with Comcast relate to their uncanny ability to mishandle nearly every part of their business.
From the disconnect of the previous homeowner happening 2 hours after my new connection (killing the service for the weekend) to their inability to take credit-card payments after 3 separate attempts, and finally to their slow, cumbersome, frustrating on-screen user-interface and PPV software which is so prone to glitches, errors, and unexplained outages, it is like running Windows 95 version A.
And today, even though all these issues were documented, the customer service rep refused to offer any kind of compensation. I've had it with this company. I dropped down to basic $7.95 cable and high-speed Internet (which does work decently). I dropped their phone service and going with VOIP. Why reward the monopoly with any more business than is necessary?
If you can get TWC Cable or Dish, the user-interface on the on-screen programming is much faster and intuitive, and that is the thing that rubbed me wrong on a daily basis.
Pros: cant think of any Cons: very slow high speed internet extremely, extremely, lousy customer service and extremely, extremely long hold times
Its a shame we, consumers/clients, are not able to pick and chose cable tv providers. I inherited Comcast from Suscom, currently living in putnam county, new york. I have some many horror stories from their horrible customer care I can't even tell you.
You know the current COMCAST commerical where comcast refers to its compeition as the "slowskiees", well sorry, but in my opinion COMCAST ARE THE SLOWSKIEES! I started with the bundle service (from previous owner) great, no problem, then here comes comcast. With one call and THEIR mistake, i went from a reasonable price good channel selection program to a piece of nothing to speak of cable programming for a lot more money.
I had to jump thru hoops when I decided to go with a new telephone service provider, COMCAST continue billing me and it was HORRIBLE to get my credit.
The actual service is ok, I get cable, very slow high speed internet and extremely horrible, no good, very bad customer service.
My advice; if you can stay as far away from COMCAST that you can!
