Third World Quality
by nedhop ,Jun 26 '06
Pros: If and when a signal is received, it is very good.
Cons: Enjoying local monopolies, the company reminds me of a Soviet bureaucracy.
Only government regulations, establishing local monopolies, keep this incompetent company in business. We've had to return three boxes -- none of which came with a manual -- because they were defective. Service requires waits of up to two weeks. Even the telephone company in Haiti, under the Duvaliers at least, was less inefficient than Comcast. No wonder so many people are switching to DishTV. (I write of the Comcast operation in Stockton, California.)

comcast can't get it right
by oldsport1000 ,Feb 09 '04
Pros: It usually works if they don't accidentally delete my account!
Cons: Service and support suck
I returned the leased cable modem 9/03 and have tried to get the charge removed for the past 5 months. I've contacted them at least 5 times. Each time I was told something different and that the problem was resolved and each month, it was on my bill.

The final straw came Friday when I got home and found that the internet wasn't working. I called Saturday to find out that they had deleted my account! It took several hours and multiple calls to get it reactivated.

At the end of the call, the technician said that rather than trying to figure out how to issue a credit for the modem back to Sept., he would credit me with a months service.

I looked at my account online this morning and find that even though I had just paid for a months service, I've been charged the full amount for the "new acount" service and it includes the charge for their modem that I haven't had since Sept.!

Bait-and-switch artists
by kilimanram ,Apr 29 '04
Pros: None. I'm switching to satellite service
Cons: Lying, unethical, stonewallers
This company is one of the worst I have ever used. When we moved into our new house in Menlo Park, I was trying to decide whether to go with cable or satellite for our TV signal. A promotional offer made me go with Comcast. The sales rep selling me the service told me that the offer was good for one year from installation. But today, just three months after getting the service, the promotional price got yanked and full-price charges applied. The customer service department has been worse than useless, offering only to disconnect the service. They advertise about how they are changing their business practices. Don't you believe it. They fully deserve their terrible reputation.

Pulling basic cable channels on comcast
by bundschubob ,Jun 16 '06
Pros: none
Cons: service stinks.
Well I also think comcast stinks. I have the service right below the digital which should offer all the basic cable channels, but nooo. They put some of them on their digital lineup so you have to pay them more money just to get the freakin basic stuff. And then they start removing some channels from basic cable and put THEM on their digital lineup. I am NOT gonna pay them more money just to get more of what should be basic cable service. I am tempted to go to satellite service but that seems to go out when it rains heavy. Plus last year during hurricane wilma we lost our cable service but not once not even for a second did we loose our telephone. I wish Bellsouth was able to offer tv.

Comcast Billing Problems
by mspearl ,Sep 11 '06
Pros: I have nothing good to say about this company. They are buying up cable companies.
Cons: Billing problems, customer service problems.
After Comcast bought Susqcomm I was overbilled by one months service. After 6 phone calls, they now owe me $112. They drafted my checking account for too much money, and were given ample time to put the money back. I cancelled my service, and they didn't show up to disconnect me. When I called they said I wasn't scheduled to be disconnected. Well they did disconnect me and sent me a statement showing a $70 credit balance. I should have cancelled my service a whole lot sooner. I have a complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau for the $112 they still owe me. Here is the link in case you have problems.

Comcast is Mediocre at Best
by neveragain431 ,Jul 15 '06
Pros: Never found any.
Cons: Extremely poor customer service and overall poor service quality.
I've been frustrated with Comcast TV and Internet service since they installed it last November. I had to wait 5 weeks for them to install it, and then it didn't work properly until March. Now the set top box went dead (3 months later). I called Comcast customer service (is that like a bull servicing a cow?) and they couldn't get a tech out for another week. They told me to take it to their local office (10 miles away) for an exchange. They gave me the wrong directions, and it took me 1 1/2 hours to get there. Once there the customer service (that word rings true in the bull/cow scenario) rep gave me this old box that looked like it went through a war. I told the rep to disconnect the service immediately. I went home and called Dish Network and they had a tech out to install the service in less than 2 days. I now have more channels, features, clear picture and overall about 200% better than Comcast. Dish Network is absolutely fantastic (I don't know what benefit there is to be comcastic). Never again! Comcast sucks!

Bad quality
by comcast_sucks ,Oct 15 '06
Pros: None
Cons: Loss of money and time but no option!
I have never experienced such rude customer reps in any other company. There is no integration between their tech support and their sales department. Everyone gives you their own solution to your problem. I had subscribed for premium channels from the very beginning with an HD box but all I land up getting is basic cable. Then I have to go and collect the HD box. I get premium channels but only for a week. Then when I call they schedule an installation which is cancelled automatically by them. Finally when I get premium channels after more than a week of running around the quality is very bad. Its like watching a movie stored in a heavily scratched DVD. There is another installation scheduled but don't know whats gonna happen then.

COMCAST CANT LIVE WITH OUT IT
by barbiebbb ,Dec 15 '04
Pros: great - unlike satelite you dont lose picture when the wind blows
Cons: none
Comcast cable has to be the best cable service provider I have ever used. Their prices are a great value given the services I have. Video on demand is a must have and the internet service blows away the competition in speed and quality.

Need to watch those bills - deceptive billing
by shopp8r ,Oct 31 '09
Pros: Easy to sign up
Cons: Expensive service, deceptive billing.
I've only had Comcast for 6 months and in that time, they have overbilled me three times and increased my rate without any notice twice (these were UNRELATED to the overbilling so yes, in 6 months, I was charged more than agreed FIVE TIMES.)  This should (and maybe is) illegal.  Although each time, they've admitted the error and given me a credit, it was a hassle (a total of ~1 hr on the phone for the incidences combined) and I've had to pay for the overbilling in order not to get an overdue fee before they issued the credit so it's like I'm loaning Comcast money.  Their billing system is so confusing and correctling is so incovenient (the online chat can't fix, you have to call) they must assume people don't notice or can't be bothered to call.  Honestly I can't believe they haven't been faced with a class action lawsuit.  Any, any other service is better than this.  You have NO idea what you'll be charged by them!

Crap-castic!
by rups161181 ,Sep 18 '06
Pros: are you kidding me?
Cons: 15 words is not enough..
If I were to rate brands, I would not even bother putting Comcast last coz it sucks.

Comcast is worst company I have done business with. Their customer care reps are outright rude, the company squeezes money out of people without caring for the service and I hope it dies eventually.

ITS CRAP-CASTIC!

Shift to Satellite for HD + Dolby + DVR
by hd2006 ,Jul 15 '06
Pros: No long term commit, so you can return the lousy Comcast box to them.
Cons: DVR freezes, no Dolby sound.
I have recently tried the HD/DVR box from Comcast. Actually, I tried two. The first one worked so bad I assumed something had to be wrong with it, so I exchanged it. I did discover that Comcast is handing out two different version of their HD/DVR, both look the same from the front panel. However, the "improved" box has an HDMI output. The first box froze up and went blank whenever I tried to pause programming or shift channels using the up/down on the remote, along with other issues. The second box would simply not deliver a picture. In both cases, Comcast could not deliver the Dolby sound they indicate is available with select programming. What's the point in having an HD + surround sound system if you cannot get Dolby? I have tried with Comcast; I am done. Now shifting to Direct TV for HD + Dolby sound + a DVR based upon Tivo software.

I have never been so unsatisfied
by Jessica1231 ,May 13 '05
Pros: The prices are cheaper than competition.
Cons: Highly unreliable, bad service
As a whole, the Comcast is highly unorganized and unreliable. So far, it has taken four weeks to try to get my cable tv installed. The workers that come are definetly not on the same page.

Comcast = Ripoff
by akus1 ,Mar 01 '04
Pros: Only cable in my area thanks to local politicians
Cons: Price, service
They get you signed up and then raise the prices through the roof. This year their Preferred package (which is the normal cable channels) went up by over $110 per year in my county (Montgomery County MD). I'm sure the local politicians are getting their cut too. Meanwhile, Comcast waited a month and then also removed Fox News Channel, FX, and TNT from their Basic package so there was nothing left in it but ABC, NBC, and CBS, and a couple local crap stations.

comcast is worst ever!
by pjs518 ,Sep 13 '08
Pros: cant think of any
Cons: very slow high speed internet
extremely, extremely, lousy customer service and extremely, extremely long hold times
Its a shame we, consumers/clients, are not able to pick and chose cable tv providers. I inherited Comcast from Suscom, currently living in putnam county, new york. I have some many horror stories from their horrible customer care I can't even tell you.

You know the current COMCAST commerical where comcast refers to its compeition as the "slowskiees", well sorry, but in my opinion COMCAST ARE THE SLOWSKIEES! I started with the bundle service (from previous owner) great, no problem, then here comes comcast. With one call and THEIR mistake, i went from a reasonable price good channel selection program to a piece of nothing to speak of cable programming for a lot more money.

I had to jump thru hoops when I decided to go with a new telephone service provider, COMCAST continue billing me and it was HORRIBLE to get my credit.

The actual service is ok, I get cable, very slow high speed internet and extremely horrible, no good, very bad customer service.

My advice; if you can stay as far away from COMCAST that you can!

Compared to Direct TV
by darrelltwo ,Dec 22 '03
Pros: No weather related outages like satelite. No contracts.
Cons: Price. In Atlanta, didgital cable $90/month 4 everything.
I have have graduated from standard cable to Direct TV and now to Digital Cable. Our experience has been one of real growth. When we went to Direct TV, we were in love with all of the channels that were available. The drawbacks were the obvious ones, limited number of sets on the system (we have 5 kids), and rain/weather effects on viewing. We now have been on digital cable for 6 months and love it! We don't have weather issues (underground utilities in our area), and we still get hundreds of channels like Direct TV. We also get true Hi-Def for our local channels now which was not yet offered in Direct TV when we switched (they had local channels, but not in Hi-Def). We make use of the Fiber Optic connections to our surround sound system and enjoy movies in a true home theater enviroment. We don't enjoy the billing practices of any of the companies traditionally involved with premium television, so I won't go into that since it's the same song as everyone else.

We have not had Dish network, so I don't have a basis of comparison for them.
