cable not reliable for phones. by desk11 ,Jan 15 '08
Pros: initially less expensive than at&t Cons: not reliable and support staff are rude.
It seemed like a good idea to have my phone service bundled with my cable and internet. I did not realize that when the cable goes down, it could take quite a while for the phone to work again. It does not go back on instantly, it could take several hours.I wish I had not changed. I would be better off just using my cell phone instead of a flaky landline connection.
The calls to customer service take a long time and the staff can be rude. They try to use technological words to explain the problem, but are using them incorrectly. My cable went out entirely, later that day when the cable service was restored, my phones did not work. The operator tried to tell me that it was the phones that I was using with convoluted arguements that made no sense. It is the baffle them with nonsense approach to customer service. When called on that, they become surly. I cannot imagine how that serves the company.
The phone company is just fine, and a cell phone would be more reliable.
Pros: The picture looks pretty good. Cons: No follow through on promises, nightmare customer service, billing overcharges for already returned modems/cable boxes.
Recently moved, and attempted to bring my bundled service with me. Comcast disconnected my old phone number and did not provide a forwarding message as promised. 3 weeks after the move, Comcast still hasn't ported over a Verizon number that was pre arranged. No follow through, sales guy disappered. To boot, Comcast is billing me for the old equipment that I personally handed to their own technician. I've been a good customer for years but can't take it anymore. Will be switching over to FIOS. Comcast is an absolute nightmare that will eat hours of your time. Their lobbyists have served them well, but the customers get hosed. Avoid them at all costs.
Pros: None. I'm switching to satellite service Cons: Lying, unethical, stonewallers
This company is one of the worst I have ever used. When we moved into our new house in Menlo Park, I was trying to decide whether to go with cable or satellite for our TV signal. A promotional offer made me go with Comcast. The sales rep selling me the service told me that the offer was good for one year from installation. But today, just three months after getting the service, the promotional price got yanked and full-price charges applied. The customer service department has been worse than useless, offering only to disconnect the service. They advertise about how they are changing their business practices. Don't you believe it. They fully deserve their terrible reputation.
Pros: They are the only cable company in my town. Cons: Where do i start...they suck.
After just 20 short days of no cable, phone or internet, 3 service appointments (1 they actually showed up for), one used up vacation day from work, at least a dozen calls for service some lasting an hour or more we have our stuff almost working right again.
This is the worst customer service experience I have ever had. About half of the reps answering the phone were polite, none gave accurate or consistent answers to our questions and a few were very rude and insulting. I still dont know how it got fixed. I think it healed itself.
I have told my 20 day story to everyone and anyone who will listen to me. At this point I have no faith that my service will continue uninterrupted and see no reason to continue to send Comcast hundreds of dollars each month .do you?
every shady practice available by jdune ,Feb 06 '07
Pros: Sometimes fast internet Cons: poor service, poor quality, billing errors
Comcast has a monopoly where I live- in the nation's capitol.
Service and billing are both bad.
Initially, they missed the THREE hour window for two different appointments. The third appointment a guy showed up and did a less than perfect job. Free installation is promised in these situations. Comcast DC offered only $20 per visit. This amount was never credited until I called and complained.
I had a promotional price for my internet. Comcast somehow did not receive this part of the order. I was charged full price. A fax was required to change it. No email, no mail. Only a fax.
After that was over, I was charged for my own modem. I called to complain. No way to fix it without another fax.
I wanted to downgrade my service- no information given on the help page. Only on upgrading. AND you CANNOT mail the digital tuner. It must be delivered in person in a not so great part of the city.
In addition to these problems, they are really expensive. About $50 a month for internet (with taxes, etc) and 70-80 for decent cable (no premium channels) with taxes.
I have been a cable customer for over 12 years first with warner and then comcast came to town. As long as you dont need to talk to the customer service you may be ok.
The people they have in the "customer care" dept, don't
care. Had Internet and cable T.V, wanted to add phone,
and add movie channels. the only package they could offer
me was very expensive and they could care less what I wanted to add, it was all about what "they" wanted to sell me. There are a couple issues with the customer care personal, Hardly could understand them, really thick
broken english, come-on for what they charge get me
someone I can talk too!
Horrible Customer Service vs Good Quality by ser26ser ,Jan 15 '07
Pros: Good quality, number of channels Cons: Customer service
I am sure that comcast has one of the worst customer service, I have ever experienced. They never care about the customer. I used the service for 6 months but paid my bill for 7 times. I called them several times, nobody explained my service charge except one who had just said something. I changed my service to Direct tv and verizon for internet which are extremely friendlier than comcast. I just wanna say beware comcast, if something happens to you, you will never be right with comcast. They say the things and you need to listen them!!!
Comcast charges cancelation fees even when you are not under a contract by srsjr ,Sep 22 '09
Pros: none Cons: Their service is not great. Their prices are high. Their support is horrible.
I canceled all services except internet and was charged an $11 "Service Change Fee" even though I was not under any special contract requiring me to keep the services. None of the employees that handled the cancelation bothered to mention I would be charged. I guess they were hoping I would not notice.
Pros: When it works, it's not bad. Cons: Horrible picture, Comcast will not fix the problem, yearly rate increases, expensive.
I had the extended basic cable and internet service. Thankfully, Comcast doesn't force you to subscribe for a year because neither worked very well.
It started with my internet connection. I was getting 3kbps (not a typo) download speeds. Comcast came out, test my signal and said, "I'm surprised you can even connect with this signal because it is so weak." Several months later, several more visits from Comcast with the various techs all saying the same thing.
My TV picture is absolutely horrible. I cannot watch about 15 channels due to complete snow. I get about 80 channels and the first 6 or 7 are clear and the rest progressively get worse as I move up the channels.
I got rid of the cable modem access after about 2 months of complaining and Comcast doing nothing to resolve the problem. I've had a horrible TV picture for about a year now. I cannot get satellite where I live. :(
I have given up on calling Comcast. They apparently cannot or will not fix the problem. I am moving in 2 months and hopefully, will never have to subscribe to Comcast ever again.
Comcast Customer Service is just about the worst I have experienced by jayssss ,Sep 12 '07
Pros: NONE Cons: Very Poor customer service.
My cable box goes out. I call, and it is determined that a technician is needed to come out and fix the issue. An appointment is made for Saturday between 2-5PM. My wife walks in the door at 2:02PM and a dispatcher is leaving a message on our answering machine. She wasn't able to get to the phone in time. They cancel the appointment, even though we call back immediately after to let them know we are there. It gets rescheduled for Wednesday between 11:00AM-2:00PM. They don't show up. Now that's customer service. NOT!
This is just one example of the experience I have had with Comcast in the years I have been a customer. I have had at least 3 appointments where they have not shown up. If there were an alternative in my area for cable that would work with my Tivo S3, and true high-speed internet, Comcast would be left by the wayside. Unfortunately, they are the only game in town in my part of town.
No simplicity in Triple Play by comcast_sucks1 ,Jul 02 '09
Pros: None Cons: I hate comcast
I signed up for triple play watching an ad on TV. It seemed like a simple solution - pay 100 bucks a month for TV, Internet and Phone. I signed up for it and started getting bills of $150 a month a few months out.. Apparently there were free services which kicked in after 2 months. I tried to get Comcast to credit my account but to no avail. Why can't consumers get honest straightforward service without getting hit with a huge bill?
Comcast Customer-no-service SUX by conhed ,Jun 16 '06
Pros: None Cons: The whole company is a group of cons.
Comcast is my only choice for TV and high speed internet. It hasn't worked continuously for a week. Repeated calls resulted in repeated assurances that the problem was fixed. All lies. A repairman came out and replaced the entire box (outside the house) last Monday. Today is Friday and I've already had three separate outages since then. This company doesn't have a single employee capable of outsmarting a box of rocks. I can't schedule a service tech to come out more than one day out. It's tomorrow or I have to call back. The technical people are idiots and the customer-no-service reps lie, have no manners, and are incapable of understanding simple english sentences formed by a six year old. You can't ever get a supervisor on the line when you call, and they NEVER return calls.
Comcast is reason why monopolies are bad by leeofb ,Dec 29 '06
Pros: It works most of the time. Cons: Way, way, WAY overpriced. Poor value.
Comcast is the only cable provider in Denver, per a sweetheart deal with the government. As a result, it's way overpriced. Rates go up at about the twice the inflation rate. Currently, Comcast cable TV costs twice as much in inflation-adjusted dollars over what I was paying 20 years ago. Where's the competition? Why doesn't the government allow other cable companies to compete? Comcast can sell phone and Internet service, why can't other companies sell cable TV service? Without question, Comcast cable TV is by far the absolute worst value in home services, compared to phone, Internet, even utilities.
Awful service - I do not recommend Comcast by fairbusiness ,Dec 29 '06
Pros: I haven't had the opportunity to find any pros about Comcast. Cons: Awful customer service. Very long wait on phone calls. Inadequately trained professions on the phone.
I tried getting a quote from Comcast for internet connection and cable. They transferred me 7 times between adelphia and comcost (took about 35 mins). At every transfer they got my address etc. and every time I was at the wrong department, apparently. I am not sure how can I reach a wrong department when I was transferred by a customer service agent everytime. At the end they got my information and told me they suddenly can't hear my voice (even though they could hear everything perfectly while taking the address etc.) and hung up on me. Either they have inadequately trained professions on the phone or there is something wrong with the company. I am not at all satisfied with their service and I will not recommend Comcast to anyone.
Pros: Quality Product Cons: Terrible Customer Support; High Prices
The main complaint that I have with Comcast is that they do not inform you when a promotion is about to expire. Instead, they simply bill you with a much higher rate, and you would have to find out why yourself. Even with that, there are frequently billing errors. Their customer support is unhelpful over the phone, and the prices of their service is not regulated as they are the only cable internet service provider where I live.
