Comcast - restroom attendants provide better customer service
by tlins ,Nov 22 '06
Pros: Internet service
Cons: See bullet points
Reasons why I cancelled cable service today:

1. Terrible customer service.
2. Service goes off the air every other week.
3. Fictitious pay-per-view charges.
4. When given the chance to retain a customer, Comcast did nothing.
5. The ability to buy the same TV shows on iTunes, hassle free.

Comcast Nightmare
by hawkmoon77 ,Feb 01 '04
Pros: 1 out of 8 representatives that I spoke with were friendly
Cons: Made constant billing mistakes, and attempts to squeeze every dollar out of you
Comcast has consistently over charged me and made many billing errors. I found myself somehow signed up for services I didn't order and could not get an explanation as to my charges. I had to call them every day for a week once to get them to fix a mistake they made, and then a month later, I found out that not only wasn't the mistake fixed, but none of the representatives recorded my complaints, even though I specifically asked them to make the notes on my account.

I wish there was an alternative, because Comcast has been unfair and unreasonable to me in many regards.

Worst Ever
by obeseotron ,Oct 06 '06
Pros: Cable internet more or less works, speeds are as advertised.
Cons: Expensive, defective DVR, rude ignorant customer service
I moved from an area served by Time Warner to one served by Comcast and I am simply shocked at just how much difference there can be between cable companies.

To get the same level of service I had from Time Warner cost $35 more per month. Strike 1. I picked up a box from a service center, but they neglected to include a power cable, and the box did not have outputs that could be connected to my TV. Strike 2. The DVR functions on the box barely work at all, programs are often not recorded, any type of series recording is nearly impossible because it is incapable of distinguishing new and reruns, and the box will not delete old shows automatically. Strike 3. Trying to get a show On Demand works only 50% of the time, and they are a week or two behind updating the system at all times. Strike 4. Everyone I have spoken to at Comcast has been ignorant and rude. Strike 5.

Earthlink and DirectTV for me.

I think it depends upon where you live.
by driker2 ,Jul 11 '06
Pros: Good product, good service.
Cons: A tad expensive.
The quality of Comcast service seems to vary by area. When my son's cable service in Washington, DC was bought by Comcast he was, initially, unhappy with their service. Of course he had been very unhappy with the original company.

I live in the Philadelphia area (Home of Comcast. In fact the new Comcast Tower is rising right outside my office window.) and I have been entirely happy with Comcast's cable and high speed Internet service. We have had both services ever since they became available so, I must admit, I have little to compare it to, but I don't intend to experiment for comparison purposes.

My several year old TiVo is starting to electronically mis-behave, so I am thinking seriously of switching from TiVo to Comcast's DVR service.

Is Comcast expensive? Yes! Has it been reliable? Very! Have the Comcast service people been helpful and courteous? Definitely!

DVR hoax
by sneetcher ,Jul 16 '06
Pros: Recording in HD is great, record two show at once in HD.
Cons: Navigation is horrible. Picture skips in time. HBO in demand rarely works at night.
I have had Comcast Cable for quite a while and must say they never hesitate to disappoint. I'm sure as most places they are the only monopoly, I mean cable choice available. I have friends with satellite but the rumors are true, one good rain storm and you're paying for internet coverage of "the big game". I recently switched from TIVO to Comcast DVR because of the ability to record in high definition, and I record a lot of shows instead of watching 'live'. I think I made a mistake. Although recording in HD is sweet, the software and navigation of comcast's DVR box is equivalent to playing an Atari with Xbox contols. It's horrible! It really must be a first line beta version in disguise as a real product. I guess if you never had TIVO you might not know the difference, but if you have, the IT department should be embarrassed.

Cornered and angry
by wfpabst ,Jul 03 '06
Pros: Consistent internet and reasonably good TV clarity
Cons: They are killing the golden goose by pricing themselves out of the market.
1. I have had basic comcast (TV) cable and internet(PC) for over two years w/ my monthly bill now at over $95/mo. The price for both services has been gradually creeping up almost on a monthly basis.

2. Recently Comcast has pushed its subscribers to sign-up for their Digital service which requires at least one digital box (at a charge) and a reg. monthly charge of over $12. I have refused this. However, now it seems they are moving many of the cable channels we normally watch to the digital realm, thus forcing me either to pick-up digital or give up those channels. When I complained about this, their respose was that it was cheaper and more profitable for them. No shame there!

3. I switched my phone service from Verizon to Vonage at $16.99/mo. Comcast offered me an internet phone service for $39.99/mo bundled with my current 95/mo. I asked them how they considered a service priced at twice the competition's viable... their answer was "that's just our pricing." Again, no shame!

Comcast has had a monopoly. They have just about killed this golden goose, since I am considering Dish and cell phone.

Pros: Absolutely nothing nice to say!
Cons: Shifty
After making several attempts to deal with these folks, I got suspicious and during further investigation, stumbled upon the previous epinion.  Surprise! My experiences have been almost exactly the same.  The only difference is that I didn't pull the trigger to order.  They are shifty to say the least. You cannot get a straight answer when you try to pin down the costs. I guess they cover their behinds, by saying "prices vary by market" and being otherwise vague when you attempt to get a "total".  I can't help but wonder if anyone has been successful getting the rebate promised.  I also have to say that if Comcast allows such firms to represent them, they don't deserve our business.  I suggest getting a dish!

FCC is probing pricing policy of Comcast and others....
by ciaotebaldi ,Nov 08 '08
Pros: We get cable
Cons: Comcast is allowed to build their future on our backs. Sweet deal for them
Finally, the FCC is looking into pricing policies of major cable companies. They spend our money to set themselves up tomake big money... they they hire lobyists to keep themselves there. "We the people" become "we the suckers" because they make deals with towns that exclude
competition...., What happened to the "PRICE FIXING" laws? Comcast is allowed to build their future on the backs of our bucks because of the lack of competition.
Are we this stupid to let our legislators continue this rot? I think this has gone far enough!
$85 for cable tv? Outragious!
FCC, DO SOMETHING NOW!
Show your mettle and protect the citizens from corporate greed.

No simplicity in Triple Play
by comcast_sucks1 ,Jul 02 '09
Pros: None
Cons: I hate comcast
I signed up for triple play watching an ad on TV. It seemed like a simple solution - pay 100 bucks a month for TV, Internet and Phone. I signed up for it and started getting bills of $150 a month a few months out.. Apparently there were  free services which kicked in after 2 months. I tried to get Comcast to credit my account but to no avail. Why can't consumers get honest straightforward service without getting hit with a huge bill?

I really, really hate Comcast Cable!
by glennquest ,Nov 28 '03
Pros: The service is there and works most of the time.
Cons: Many channels experience digital scrambling.
This company has no concern for consumers. Their movement into the Boston area is a cable disaster. These scumbags drop channels without notice and don't care how customers feel about it. Now, they are increasing rates by 2.5% with no valid increase in service. I am livid that the Republican controlled Congress will do nothing to protect consumers from the cable monopoly.

Comcast Customer-no-service SUX
by conhed ,Jun 16 '06
Pros: None
Cons: The whole company is a group of cons.
Comcast is my only choice for TV and high speed internet. It hasn't worked continuously for a week. Repeated calls resulted in repeated assurances that the problem was fixed. All lies. A repairman came out and replaced the entire box (outside the house) last Monday. Today is Friday and I've already had three separate outages since then. This company doesn't have a single employee capable of outsmarting a box of rocks. I can't schedule a service tech to come out more than one day out. It's tomorrow or I have to call back. The technical people are idiots and the customer-no-service reps lie, have no manners, and are incapable of understanding simple english sentences formed by a six year old. You can't ever get a supervisor on the line when you call, and they NEVER return calls.

Comcast = Hidden Fees and Unfulfilling promises
by sagar1976 ,Oct 03 '09
Pros: 1. Service is good and reliable.
2. Sometimes give a good deal.
Cons: Never get credits for the false-charges and hidden fees
Rude representatives.
No deals/offers for current customers.
I have all three Phone/TV/Internet at home. Although service is good, they most of the time charge you strange fees, so please pay a close look to statements. If you call the cust-reps they are rude about 10% of the times and although they promise that a credit will be given, it never appear and then you kind of end up calling comcast every month.

Stay away from Comcast
by makeitcount ,Nov 06 '08
Pros: Fro my research and own experience... NONE!!!!!!!!!!!
Cons: Extremely poor customer service, no communication between departments to name a few...
My welcome package as a new customer was the disconnection of service a month later because they didn't process my payment on time even though it was sent with plenty of time. Their response: Pay an extra amount to reconnect service due to their negligence.

Comcast in MA is a nightmare
by epwtf ,Jul 19 '09
Pros: The picture looks pretty good.
Cons: No follow through on promises, nightmare customer service, billing overcharges for already returned modems/cable boxes.
Recently moved, and attempted to bring my bundled service with me. Comcast disconnected my old phone number and did not provide a forwarding message as promised. 3 weeks after the move, Comcast still hasn't ported over a Verizon number that was pre arranged. No follow through, sales guy disappered.  To boot, Comcast is billing me for the old equipment that I personally handed to their own technician.
I've been a good customer for years but can't take it anymore. Will be switching over to FIOS.  Comcast is an absolute nightmare that will eat hours of your time.  Their lobbyists have served them well, but the customers get hosed.  Avoid them at all costs.

Comcast has the WORST customer service
by masshein ,Feb 10 '07
Pros: They are the only cable service provider in my area
Cons: Don't care about the customer; Rude CS reps; Poor problem solvers
I have been a customer of comcast for nearly two years. During this time, I have not had one positive experience with their customer service. A few notes:

* When I initially arranged to have comcast install their services in my new home they did not show up on three separate occasions. We all know how delightful it is to wait the five hours with no result. When I called to complain I was never connected with a manager because they never had any available. If fact, the CS rep basically told me it was my fault that they didn't show up.

* I have yet to have all boxes in my home working. I have had three visits from their install team and they all insist their is something wrong with my wiring (the house is three years old). Although, I continue to pay for upgrades that I cannot enjoy. When I have called to complain.. all managers are unavailable or in a meeting. Today, they finally fixed the problem with an amp.. AH HA! It was not my wiring, it was lazy comcast employees to worried about getting on to the next appt. to fix the issue.
