Awful service - I do not recommend Comcast
by fairbusiness ,Dec 29 '06
Pros: I haven't had the opportunity to find any pros about Comcast.
Cons: Awful customer service. Very long wait on phone calls. Inadequately trained professions on the phone.
I tried getting a quote from Comcast for internet connection and cable. They transferred me 7 times between adelphia and comcost (took about 35 mins). At every transfer they got my address etc. and every time I was at the wrong department, apparently. I am not sure how can I reach a wrong department when I was transferred by a customer service agent everytime. At the end they got my information and told me they suddenly can't hear my voice (even though they could hear everything perfectly while taking the address etc.) and hung up on me. Either they have inadequately trained professions on the phone or there is something wrong with the company. I am not at all satisfied with their service and I will not recommend Comcast to anyone.

Frequent Billing Errors
by kenhsieh ,Dec 17 '06
Pros: Quality Product
Cons: Terrible Customer Support; High Prices
The main complaint that I have with Comcast is that they do not inform you when a promotion is about to expire. Instead, they simply bill you with a much higher rate, and you would have to find out why yourself. Even with that, there are frequently billing errors. Their customer support is unhelpful over the phone, and the prices of their service is not regulated as they are the only cable internet service provider where I live.

Third World Quality
by nedhop ,Jun 26 '06
Pros: If and when a signal is received, it is very good.
Cons: Enjoying local monopolies, the company reminds me of a Soviet bureaucracy.
Only government regulations, establishing local monopolies, keep this incompetent company in business. We've had to return three boxes -- none of which came with a manual -- because they were defective. Service requires waits of up to two weeks. Even the telephone company in Haiti, under the Duvaliers at least, was less inefficient than Comcast. No wonder so many people are switching to DishTV. (I write of the Comcast operation in Stockton, California.)

Comcastcableoffers.com SCAM

Pros: Absolutely nothing nice to say!
Cons: Shifty
After making several attempts to deal with these folks, I got suspicious and during further investigation, stumbled upon the previous epinion.  Surprise! My experiences have been almost exactly the same.  The only difference is that I didn't pull the trigger to order.  They are shifty to say the least. You cannot get a straight answer when you try to pin down the costs. I guess they cover their behinds, by saying "prices vary by market" and being otherwise vague when you attempt to get a "total".  I can't help but wonder if anyone has been successful getting the rebate promised.  I also have to say that if Comcast allows such firms to represent them, they don't deserve our business.  I suggest getting a dish!

WORST online payment system I've ever seen
by slowman ,Aug 27 '09
Pros: None
Cons: WORST online payment system I've ever seen
The online payment system is very confusing and terrible to use. For example, if you use their EcoBill system and a few months later you want to go back and check which credit card you actually used, you won't see it. You call them, the customer rep doesn't know either. Every time you set up or update the information, even if it's just a tiny change on the billing address or a new expiration date, there will be a 2-3 months gap when automatic payment won't work, and you'll have to manually pay for your bills. Making it worse, you have no idea when the auto-payment starts to work, so you risk paying one bill twice.

This is the WORST online payment system I've ever seen.

Comcast - restroom attendants provide better customer service
by tlins ,Nov 22 '06
Pros: Internet service
Cons: See bullet points
Reasons why I cancelled cable service today:

1. Terrible customer service.
2. Service goes off the air every other week.
3. Fictitious pay-per-view charges.
4. When given the chance to retain a customer, Comcast did nothing.
5. The ability to buy the same TV shows on iTunes, hassle free.

Horrible customer service
by dlangness ,Nov 04 '06
Pros: Ok as long as you don't have problems with them.
Cons: HORRIBLE customer service! Company does NOT care about their customers!
I've been a comcast customer since 2003. I had broadband internet, digital phone and cable television service. Everything was fine until I put in an order for additional outlets for cable tv. They said I could have digital cable for an additional $5.00 a month. This was a lie, it was actually $20.00 a month more. The digital cable never did work right, I couldn't get the one channel I wanted plus the reception was crappy. Finally they came out to change my huge cable box for a smaller one. Things were better then until I had more problems with comcast. I got misinformation from several of comcast reps when I phoned. When I complained, all I got was "I'm sorry someone gave you the wrong info". Basically they told me it was my problem. My repeated requests to speak to a supervisor were refused. Anyway, I am no longer a comcast customer. I would rather go to the trouble of getting new carriers for all my services than continue to do business with them.

Be smart, don't let the price scam you!
by nsuri ,Oct 25 '06
Pros: nothing
Cons: everything!
I got Comcast triple play in May 2006. The man who set it up for me was so rude, that I signed the damn paper just to have it get out of my home (he was here for 6 hours). He left behind so many large holes in my walls that I had to have an Terminex come twice. It is now the end of October, and my cable is awful and hard to figure out, and the damage has yet to be repaired. They have documented my requests poorly, but have been 'kind enough' to sent 5 different people to determine the damage. Trying to get them to do anything is a full time job. Not only have they cut my phone line twice, but they have also messed up my bill and overcharged me. Be smart, do not use this awful company!

What's worse than awful?
by chb310 ,Oct 07 '04
Pros: None
Cons: Service, Reliability, Service, Reliability, Service
Comcast...that's what! We have had their high speed internet for two years now because they are the only game in town. The service works about 80 percent of the time. Lately, we are down to maybe 25 percent of the time working. Tried to get a service call..they canceled it because the service worked that day. Got another service call scheduled. They never showed up! I don't think I've ever seen anything this bad. If you can stay away from Comcast...DO! By the way, our TV service is through Dish Network and works really well with an outstanding picture.

Comcast- EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER RELATION
by unhappya ,Dec 03 '07
Pros: What pros? Please let me know if there is any. thanks
Cons: Prices stinks. Techs. lack Proficiency
This company is very undesirable. I am actually trying to have an installation done at my house; we have gotten nothing but a run around. I think the technicians might just be lazy, lack of communication and incompetent. This is their job and they can't make an installation! That means INCOMPETENT! They schedule to come out between 10-12pm to do a custom install, when we just needed a simple wireless install of a transmitter. So we tell him this and so he said he knows nothing about this, (So excuse who is supposed to know about this type of installation? Am I a COMCAST TECHNICIAN)? And he has no equipment for that installation. Does Comcast not need customers and their money? Due to this type of customer relation they portray a real fabulous company to deal with. NOT! VERY UNSATISFACTORY.

Extremely Poor Service
by buckeyecal ,Oct 06 '09
Pros: Phone service and voice mail good, picture quality good. Internet service ok.
Cons: Poor customer service
Too Expensive triple pay
Do not disclose all costs
Have Triple Play service from Comcast for ~$140/mth.  Had reception issues, called support and was told they are "migrating to digital" and I will need another new box to get the same channels I already get!  The box they send does provide service but channel changing is slow and I lose all TV features, i.e. P-I-P, etc.  To get more features, like channel menu etc. the box costs $7/mth per TV!  I already pay >$130/mth and they want to charge me another $14/mth to get the same features I have today!  I feel that if they seek to upgrade and new boxes are required, they should give their loyal customers the boxes for free to keep them as customers.

I will be swtiching to ATT and U-Verse and save $40/mth!

Comcrap Sucks
by BigFatHairy ,Oct 18 '03
Pros: Court TV and Discovery Channel
Cons: Price, service, willingness to permanently correct a problem, I could go on...
Satellite is not an option in my neighborhood (due to trees), so if I want more than three local, infomercial-filled channels, I am stuck with Comcrap.

Monopoly much??

Since 1996, when I moved here, I have not been able to get a clear picture on the USA network. It's now a ritual to call in and get a credit for lacking this channel. They say, its a known problem in my area and they will credit me the few cents per month for the channel. Ridiculous.

For the past two months, FX, TNT, TBS, HIST, TLC, Bravo, Disney, A&E and several others are fuzzy during the evening. I mean they look like a blizzard in Montana. Calls to Customer Service? They send a tech, the tech gets the channels clear, then a day later, the channels are fuzzy again. Grrr...

Appalling broadband service
by lonewolfpc ,Oct 12 '06
Pros: Good speed when it works, HDTV is great.
Cons: Poor reliability, customer service is a joke.
Comcast is the only cable broadband provider in my area, so my fellow IT co-workers refer to them as "the circle of pain". Once you are inside, it just keeps hurting. I pay $42.95 for Internet alone that includes 8Mbps download and 384Kbps upload speed. I must say that when my Internet is up, the speed is great. That's just it, my service goes down almost daily, sometimes for several hours. To make matters worse, when I call customer service and finally get through to a human, they lie about the service being down and tell me it must be my computer. On one service call, the customer service agent wanted me to put the system restore CD in a PC that was in perfect working order to reload my operating system. Comcast must realize there is a problem, because they recently sent a letter stating that due to network issues in my area, they were offering HBO or STARZ free for 6 months. I don't need more channels, I need a working Internet connection! If you live in Northeast Kansas and you are considering Comcast, don't, unless you want to join "the circle of pain".

Comcast is Mediocre at Best
by neveragain431 ,Jul 15 '06
Pros: Never found any.
Cons: Extremely poor customer service and overall poor service quality.
I've been frustrated with Comcast TV and Internet service since they installed it last November. I had to wait 5 weeks for them to install it, and then it didn't work properly until March. Now the set top box went dead (3 months later). I called Comcast customer service (is that like a bull servicing a cow?) and they couldn't get a tech out for another week. They told me to take it to their local office (10 miles away) for an exchange. They gave me the wrong directions, and it took me 1 1/2 hours to get there. Once there the customer service (that word rings true in the bull/cow scenario) rep gave me this old box that looked like it went through a war. I told the rep to disconnect the service immediately. I went home and called Dish Network and they had a tech out to install the service in less than 2 days. I now have more channels, features, clear picture and overall about 200% better than Comcast. Dish Network is absolutely fantastic (I don't know what benefit there is to be comcastic). Never again! Comcast sucks!

Worst Ever
by obeseotron ,Oct 06 '06
Pros: Cable internet more or less works, speeds are as advertised.
Cons: Expensive, defective DVR, rude ignorant customer service
I moved from an area served by Time Warner to one served by Comcast and I am simply shocked at just how much difference there can be between cable companies.

To get the same level of service I had from Time Warner cost $35 more per month. Strike 1. I picked up a box from a service center, but they neglected to include a power cable, and the box did not have outputs that could be connected to my TV. Strike 2. The DVR functions on the box barely work at all, programs are often not recorded, any type of series recording is nearly impossible because it is incapable of distinguishing new and reruns, and the box will not delete old shows automatically. Strike 3. Trying to get a show On Demand works only 50% of the time, and they are a week or two behind updating the system at all times. Strike 4. Everyone I have spoken to at Comcast has been ignorant and rude. Strike 5.

Earthlink and DirectTV for me.
