Pros: None. Cons: Virtually no stability. High price. Company based on profit and not delivering a decent product.
Cox Cable is THE worst internet provider I have ever experienced. Their service is all based on profit and how much they can squeeze the customer for. They don't invest in their backbone and put massive amounts of users on crap networks. The stability is laughable. It's ok at say, 4 in the morning. But I would rather not have to schedule my internet surfing based on some horrible companies convenience yes? Other then that, Cox's internet service is reprehensible.

Pros: NONE Cons: They lie, charge you for customer support, and have even given donations to political parties.
They have to be the most crooked company on the eastern coast. They claim that the modem that you get from them is "FREE" but they actually charge you for it on your monthly bill. They have also been known to illegally cut additional cable lines under people's houses. They do this so that when the line stops working you'll call them up and then they can charge you to install another line. They actually did this to my parents.

I have used Cox for my phone, high-speed Internet and cable TV service for the past 16 months. Since I live in a small city, they are the only service I can use.
Unfortunately, I have had numerous problems with Cox. I have had a service person come out to my house five times due to a faulty modem and have had it replaced three times. Pros: a little cheaper than at&t Cons: frequent outages in my area (LV/Henderson), left w/out service frequently,
In the 2 months I owned it, I've experience at least one weekly outage that leaves me w/no service. Nice. If you also have cox Internet, be prepared for outages as well, and when you go to fix that problem, you have to shut your phone service down too because it's all tied into the same freaking modem. Basically, I've switched my phone back to regular phone service, even though it's more expensive. If they didn't have outages all of the time with cox, it may have been worth it. Automated phone service of for cox will take years off of your life. I also heard echoes, but can't say for sure. Anyway, I had cox before and after acquiring the @home service, and I'm now back after having moved back to their coverage area. It's the same crap system as back then, and it's not exactly cheap.

Ex Employee
by cox-ex-emp ,May 12 '08
Pros: Cox has a great cable plant and some employees that really care about the customers Cons: Cox's employees are to busy kissing up to managers instead of taking care of customers
Cox sucks as an employer and a provider. As a provider they are re-active verses pro-active. Most of their employees wait until customer complaints become escalated before they even consider fixing the customers problem. I also called due to my cable tiling and freezing. Three trucks showed up. First on sight was a lady that said she didn't see anything wrong without even testing the equipment. The two techs that showed up found a bad span of cable that was causing the problem. I was told they would turn it in for replacement, but needless to say I still have the problem. My internet and telephone goes out without any warning or notice, which leaves me without "911" access. As an employee I was fixing customer problems that the customers had called in years before I was even hired such as bad cable spans, temps placed across customers yards/over roof tops and powering issues. It appears that most of the employees are to busy kissing up to their managers and/or hanging out with their buddies around the office or where ever they can find free food.

Ready to Hate Someone?

Pros: The hope that everything Cox represents will be burnt to the ground Cons: The whole thing
Gosh, where do I begin? First your selection. Cox Communications has a monopoly in the Central Florida area and they noticably abuse that. The price for their services is rediculous, you could go to Satellite and save more money. They overcharge for everything and want to charge you for walking into their lobby. The TV and phone quality is OK, no problems there, the internet gets slow a lot. This is IF its working. I get service maybe 5 days a week if I am lucky. They cannot keep service to their customers and do we get a discount for the time we did not have service? NO!! The Billing dept graduated from Pre-K and went straight to Cox. I have a $300 late fee that should have been taken off 4 months ago, plus a $400 porno movie charge that was suppose to be taken off 2 months ago. I call everytime I get my bill, they say they will fix it, and it is there next time I get the bill. Dont bother messing with this company unless you want to kill yourself at the stupidness that makes Cox Communications

Best deal for the money
by dmoranok ,Jan 19 '07
Pros: One bill for everything Cons: Bills can be confusing, a little pricey.
I get digital cable, internet, and phone for around $188/month. It is a bit expensive, but for all I get, I think it's worth it. The channel selection and the DVR is great; I use the DVR extensively. The internet service is really fast! I am a meteorologist and constantly load weather maps on my computer. I can pull up any map in less than 10 seconds. The only beef I have is that it's difficult to check your mail if you're not checking it from home. The phone service is the best I've used; I've never used a phone that was clearer than Cox's phone service. All in all, I am very satisfied with my service; it is so much easier to have one bill for 3 services that I use every day.

Once you finally get to an actual person, Cox is not so bad. But to get there, plan on spending a lot of time pushing phone buttons. 1 for english, 1 for service, 1 for customer support. Last four of ssn, etc. You can not even push the buttons before the computer finishes talking either.
Then is is 1,2 3, or 4 for tv, phone, billing cable, internet and such. Then 1 what type of help, then trouble shooting, or outage, or whatever. Once you think you are on your way. The voice prompt gives you a warm fussy that you are on hold for a human, you get another helpful voice de-recognition program that speaks of another 4 promps. Ignoring that will only waste more time. You must say Agent, (even though it won't tell you that until you ignore it for 3 passes). Once you do say "Agent" it starts over with "You must tell me what type of problem you are having so I can direct you to the correct agent".

Good Service--Bad Website
by courtnec ,Jun 19 '05
Pros: Good service. Good customer service (if you can reach them) Cons: Incredibly poor website. Unclear pricing.
I have digital cable (almost all channels), and high-speed Internet (premium package 6MB) services.
Although I have a few problems with the service, overall service is pretty good.
However, the website has the worst design I have ever seen. It is virtually impossible to get any information you are looking for. For example, look for a Cox location in Wichita. There are several. However none are listed on the website, including the HUGE building in OldTown (downtown Wichita). Even worse, try to find the cost of a Pay-Per-View program. Although you can get a partial schedule (it ignores some stations), you cannot get a price list unless you actually purchase it.
No wonder customer service lines are so busy. The answers that are easily placed on the website aren't there.

Cox Cable and Broadband
by goog-1 ,Dec 05 '05
Pros: None ! Cons: To many to list !
Cox Broadband service was the worst company I have ever had from any company. Customer service in none existing. You call and you wait and wait just to be insulted by a tech that blames everything on your computer. I sincerely hope that Verizon runs Cox out of Fairfax County. Good Riddance !!!

Hidden Charges
by fornax ,Apr 21 '05
Pros: Comparable packaging even to DirecTV (I have both), fast internet. Cons: Slow customer service, lower channels not digital even with digital box.
My latest adventure with Cox forced me to complain to the BBB. Basically, a service technician came to my house to troubleshoot my internet service mysteriously dropping throughout the day. Even though my signal power readings were in spec, he recommended that I remove a splitter that I had in my house. Much to my surprise, I received a $50 charge the next month for this, which doubled my monthly bill. Cox refuses to refund it claiming that I declined the internal wiring insurance; which I did decline. However, my wiring was fine as stated by the tech before and after his visit. Also, the tech failed to notify me that his further troubleshooting would involve me getting billed, nor did he have me sign any service agreements for charges. At least the telephone companies tell you when you're about to get charged for troubleshooting.

Cox Communications
by npilv ,Mar 06 '07
Pros: Nothing of value received. Cons: Surely phone and tech service.
For 12 years we have had TV reception issues with their poor service. The last three years it is poor service with the TV digital and high speed internet. We don;t have any options in our area.
COX just plain SUCKS. They don't care about service. They have an exclusive franchise with the cities around here.

not for me thanks
by mchlmrtz ,Jan 18 '06
Pros: Not sure, never will be a customer Cons: add-on costs, rude customer service
Well, I was thinking about Cable when we move out to California. I called up Cox to get some pricing info. They want to charge $40-$50 to have someone come out and plug in my TV. I didn't want to pay for something I can do myself. Of course, the person on the phone said thats the only way I can get a cable box hooked up. I said I want to think about it, and he then asked if I wanted to set up an appointment. I said, if I want to set up something, I'll set it up online. He then, very rudely, said *whatever* and hung up. That made my decision very very easy. Looks like DirecTV has my business now.

Keep One Hand On Your Wallet When Dealing With These Guys
by steel6a ,Nov 04 '03
Pros: Cable and highspeed internet quality is adequate Cons: They may try to screw you out of every dollar possible.
I won't say don't deal with these guys, just keep your guard up when you do. Take the adversarial approach every step of the way because it is clear Cox is not trying to win any popularity contests. They are not your friends. Watch out for offers of "free" HBO for a month. They conveniently forget to mention that there is a sizable disconnect fee if you decide after a month that you don't want it. And they may try to slide Cinemax in as well, probably hoping you will forget the terms of the free month and think Max is free too. Of course, it's not. The reason I don't say 'don't deal with Cox' is because 1) you may not have a choice and 2) their cable and high speed internet quality is not bad. Just be prepared to fight with them.

Cox sucks!
by chimpypvd ,Dec 12 '08
Pros: Their name makes for easy jokes. Cons: If you have any--ANY--other options, I suggest you pursue them.
The worst customer service ever--and that's saying someting these days. They're rude, indifferent, and incompetent--quite a combination. That aside, the actual product kinda sux too. My internet service goes from a very respectable speed to a crawl whenever it feels like it: you pay for one thing, you get another (more often, the other). Did I mention their incomprehensible website?

Worse service possible
by aiavorovschi ,Jun 08 '09
Pros: Nothing Cons: The whole service and equipment all together.
We had Cox service for almost 2 years now, and I can't say it has been easy. Customer service gets a star at its best, equipment is not the best(I have internet as well and the modem is not one of the best, goes out of connection on and off). Problems with the bill, hidden charges, and they put things to charge you on the bill when you don't even know that you are being charged. They do promotions, but you have to call bacj to cancel, not them. Otherwise, you end up with a charge. Argumentative agents on the phone, it takes forever to get un understanding through to them, they play damn and they act like is your fault for not paying attention. I am the customer, I pay the bill, they need to provide what we ask for, not what they want to give us. Overall, a bad experience all around. I am on the verge of canceling and go Direct tv. They are cheaper and provide more incentive opportunities. I don't recomend Cox to anyone, a royal pain to deal with.

useless cable provider
by mgcho ,Sep 07 '08
Pros: nothing Cons: will empty your pocket
All I can say is this cox cable is one of the biggest money-sucking hidden-charges-prone, so many other charges adding, useless sucker company which just want to make money, nothing for its customers.
If you think electric company are charging much, just join the cox and you would thank electric companies for rising fees at much slower pace than the big-sucker company cox is.
Feds should take a hold of the rate this company's rapidly rising charges policy.
I am done with them!

If you have options, go elsewhere,
by kungsgarten ,Feb 07 '09
Pros: I simply can't think of one unless you just like bad service. Cons: Terrible HD picture, slow internet, and constant mailings and phone calls to buy their services.
I find Cox Cable's services to be dreadful with both the internet and cable. The customer service is equally bad. The harrass you on the phone and with constant mailings when you don't purchase all of their services.

WORST CABLE PROVIDER EVER!
by coxsucks1 ,Nov 11 '09
Pros: NONE Cons: SLOW, BREAKS, RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE, BAD PICTURE/SOUND, HIGH COSTS, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF CUSTOMERS
If you want your cable box to cut out one to two times a day then Cox Cable is who you want to use. Lets put it this way, Cox was the sole provider of cable for the apt complex I moved into in Northern VA when I moved here. I broke my lease purely because I did not want to give Cox Cable anymore of my money! I hope everyone heeds this warning.
