Pros: Some of the best sparkling wines in America Cons: The winery can be difficult to locate.
The S. Anderson winery is a relatively small winery in the Napa Valley in California. Built (and still operated) as a family winery, S. Anderson produces some of the finest sparkling wines (sometimes incorrectly referred to as Champagne) in North...
Pros: Top Quality estate grown wines and sparkling wines. Cons: Production is very limited on some products- Chambers Cab especially
To bring you folks current: The Anderson family no longer own the winery, it was sold to a lovely couple from the Northwest during 2002. The products are currently Sparkling wines, Brut, Blanc de Noir, Blanc de Blanc and when available DIVA. They also...
Pros: tiny tasting room, very informal and intimate, excellent tasting Cons: wines are so tasty you have to buy one in spite of price
We were partway up the silverado trail when we decided to take a very slight detour when we saw a sign we thought we recognized on the side of the road. It turns out I had *never* heard of these guys. But boy I was glad to have stopped.
Pros: Has become my all time favorite Sparkling Wine! Cons: It is extremely rare to find this one at a restaurant.
Our first trip to Napa, S Anderson was recommended by the Concierge at our hotel. Boy do we owe him! Really, I can't speak highly enough of any S Anderson wine we have tasted. This time, we even splurged and went for their "Diva." I'm still saving...
Pros: It's lovely setting and the staff are helpful. Google maps will get you there. Cons: When it is eventually gone..that's all, folks.
We have been fans of S. Anderson sparklers for about ten years. Since Carol Anderson, the winemaker, has died the winery has been sold, and the new owners are selling off the sparkling wine stock as it ages under the label S. Anderson. It is my understanding that they will not be making more.
We tasted the sparkling wine today and were not disappointed. The 1997 Diva was extraordinary and we also enjoyed the others. Get it while you can!
Still great sparklings despite new directions by scubed0127 ,Jul 24 '06
Pros: super sparklings, great setting, friendly people Cons: hard to find, focus less on the sparkling now
The S. Anderson Vineyard is now Cliff Lede Vineyard. While, they still produce the S. Anderson sparkling wines, there are now three distinct product lines: Cliff Lede still wines, S. Anderson sparkling wines, and Poetry flagship proprietary Cabernet Sauvignon. I haven't really delved into the still wines, but continue to appreciate the sparklings as one of the best American Sparkling Wines. The phone number is 1-800-4BUBBLY, making it easy to remember when ordering cases of sparkling wine, which I do with some regularity. They also have wine club options, great for getting to know a range of wines or as a gift. The setting of the vineyard is very beautiful and they now also operate an inn, The Poetry Inn, a fabulous upscale B&B.
2006 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir, Wiley Vineyard In the glass, the Wiley Pinot Noir displays a warm ruby red robe. Aromatically, the heady, deeper spectrum is evident: earth, figs, pine needles, hard...
